It was late, dark. I couldn’t sleep. I was thinking about…well, you know who. And so, once again, I got into my outfit and ran with the shadows. The cool air cleared my head, the prospect of do-goodery a way to cheer me up. I tore through the mostly deserted streets. The school year wouldn’t start for a while yet, that part of town quiet for the time being. I stared at the darkened houses, at the moon high overhead, a smile on my face rising northward as the wind whipped across my mask. The hairs on my neck bristled, however, when I heard a noise in the distance that suddenly shattered the silence. I stopped, turning my head left and right.
