Devica CHAPTER 5 In the original lifetime, during the vessel’s graduation after-party, Raven’s friend, Aloysius invited him to the latter’s own school after-party. Aloysius will perform as a DJ. He was hoping if Raven could accompany Aloysius’ girlfriend, Irene, until the other Jockey took over for half of the event. Raven went to the party and encountered Queen. The latter drugged his drink and was almost brought into Queen's hotel room. If not for Aloysius looking for him in anger since he left Irene alone and some b*stards almost forced her into drinking as well. Aloysius grabbed Raven and punched him. But when the latter just tumbled down flat on the ground, Aloysius realized something was wrong. It was only then that he realized Raven was drugged. However, this event caused trouble one after another. It affected even Aloysius and Irene, causing the two to split up without reconciliation. This was the reason why Nephrite decided to decline the invitation. Who would have thought that the villain itself would appear on her own to invite him? Either way, he won’t let Queen get her way this time. Queen only left her hiding place around seven in the evening. After making sure that the girl was not hiding anywhere nearby, Nephrite went home. Nephrite took a shower before checking his documents and ordering some necessities online. Then, he sent Lin Ye a message asking about security cameras. The latter said he will handle the matter. Nephrite thanked him before hanging up. He then looked for learning materials about literature. Though he will take an art course, it will also include a scriptwriting program as a subject. This way, he could learn related stuff for better understanding. Also, the vessel did not have a specific type of writer job in his mind. Hence, Nephrite can use the scriptwriting route to fulfill his wish. By the time he lay on his bed, he was sleepy and had no time to think. Nephrite had no time to think about that person who probably lost his memories while in this world once again. _________ Nephrite could really not escape this fate. To his surprise, the part-time job he took the next day turned out to be in the same venue. The agency he applied to had two events that overlapped with scheduled. They had no choice but to hire extra hands. The advertisement did not reveal the whereabouts of the party for privacy so Nephrite only learned about it after he arrived at the venue. Great. What the hell was wrong in this world? Nephrite gritted his teeth. This is the first time he encountered a situation like this. Without a choice, Nephrite could only hold his horses and be careful on how things will progress. Nephrite’s job was to serve as a waiter and assist the bartender when the latter’s hands were full. After the short briefing and seeing Nephrite indeed have the skills, he let Nephrite go. The preparation for the party was a bit arduous. The guests coming were mostly heirs of different companies or dating someone from the upper community. The bar itself was partly owned by a Deneb University student so they were making sure that nothing wrong would happen. ________ “Alright, I’ll handle this.” “Thank you, Brother Marcus. You’re the best,” his brother, Jigs, mumbled over the phone. Marcus swirled the wine inside his glass, playing the red liquid as he watched the city skyline outside the floor-to-ceiling window of his office. “Just check how the preparation progressed. Up to you if you wanted to leave or stay. I just can’t leave Liz right now.” ‘Don’t worry. Just don’t forget this favor in the future.” Marcus answered before he hung up. Then he called over his secretary to reschedule everything left on his schedule today two days later in case he ended up staying in the event. Even if he had no plans on staying, it was still better to be careful than making a mess out of things. As he walked out of the elevator to the underground parking lot, he saw a man with strawberry blonde hair walk away from one of the cars. Marcus almost called out on him if he did not notice the yellow ends of the man’s hair. Marcus groaned. He did not know why but ever since he met that man in Mary's cafe, Marcus could not get him off his head. A part of him wanted to see the other person while another part of him berated himself. But what could he do? Was it his fault if he got attracted to the person right away? Marcus never believed it at first, too. Love at first sight? What b*llsh*t was that? Until it happened to him. He once read in a book that says ‘The very essence of romance is uncertainty.’ I guess that’s what happened to me. Marcus smiled to himself. Marcus tried to calm himself. Just two weeks more. With that in mind, he strode towards his car. _________ The scent of cigarette smoke and loud music blaring made Marcus frown. He rarely goes to nightclubs, even if it’s under their company. Still, a favor asked should be done. But seeing all the people at the entrance… “Sir Marcus.” “Mr. Smith,” he waved at his secretary. “How was it?” “Mr. Yun also had an emergency schedule today so he was thankful for the reschedule. The rest were handled properly.” He glanced at the crowd at the entrance. Marcus strode towards the back entrance of the building. “It’s gonna be annoying at the front.” “It is. You’ll be in the papers again, Sir.” Marcus nodded. But just as he was about to turn into the back alley entrance, he heard people talking. He stopped. “What’s with your sudden request for xxx dose?” Marcus heard the man ask. He hid behind the wall and peeked. The man handed a small bag to the lady. However, Marcus could not see her face. She was wearing a hoodie. Marcus signaled Mr. Yun to call security right away. “I saw my ex-boyfriend at the party.” The man paused, “I thought he rejected your invitation?” “Yes, but he came tonight as one of the waiters. This is my long-awaited chance!” The man grunted irritably, “Why are you so fixated on Raven Moonfield? He can't even buy new clothes.” However, the lady already left. The man ‘tsk’ before he turned around to leave. But before he could figure out what was happening, his vision already turned, his body collided on the floor. Strong arms pinned him on the floor. The man tried to struggle, “The f*ck you’re doing?!” “You better think of the consequences for bringing something illegal in my territory.” Marcus dialed Mr. Yun’s number, “Send some security after that lady. Don’t let her get away. I’ll personally deal with her later.” Marcus' face darkened. Wait for me, Raven,
