IAN WHITE POV “Ian, I'm home.” I heard that voice I have longed to hear since I returned from France and I directed my eyes in the direction of her voice. “Ava,” I called as my face lit up with a smile. “Who's she?” My mother asked, her gaze fixated on Ava. “My girlfriend,” I replied and I met her gaze when she came nearer. “Your girlfriend? But how come I've never met her?” She inquired. “I'm sorry about that mother. She's a model and is always very busy with a lot of things,” I replied, standing up to embrace my girl. I would describe her as my backbone whenever things get tough. But have I ever been in the toughest situation? No. I chuckled at my thoughts as she screamed out my name in delight. “I'm sorry I didn't attend your welcoming party. I just had to sort out more things to be with you,” she explained and I smiled. By this time, my parents were now staring with open mouths and bewilderment plastered on their faces. I dropped Ava, adjusting her bubbled blonde hair. “Ava, this is mother and this is father.” I introduced my parents to her and she rushed over to them. “Mother, Ian said a lot about you,” she said, walking over to her as she raised her hand for a shake. As we ate, Ava got annoyed and yelled at one of the servants for not knowing things she was allergic to. “Are you trying to kill me?” she snarled at her. The poor maid was terrified and literally shaking in her boots. “I…I didn't know. You didn't mention anything about allergies,” she explained. “Couldn't you have asked?” “I just lost my appetite,” mother said, walking out of the room and ignoring her open hands. My father also stood up, following his wife. What's wrong with these people? Ava raised her eyes at me and made an awkward smile. “I guess they don't like me as much as you do,” she said, holding back her hands in embarrassment. “I can't stay here.” She remarked, getting out of the house. Why would they even do that? I picked up my phone and called Franklin, my PA. “Is the house available?” ~~ “Finally, I can have the house to myself and not fear getting attacked in my dreams.” She playfully joked and I sighed while the maids packed her things into the house. “They are not usually like that. I know things came out wrongly, you could always go back but don't act like you did,” I told her and she squinted her eyes at me. I have decided to pack into my house just to avoid problems with my parents and Ava. They can be so adamant about their choice sometimes. I just have to make them like her. “The way I act? Wait,” She walked towards me and frowned. “Was that why they reacted that way? Ignoring my appearance and leaving the table?” She asked, her voice getting a little high. I held her hand and sighed. “Can we not make this serious? After all, she's going to be your mother-in-law. Or don't you want to get married to their son?” I asked, my hand on her shoulder as I stared deeply into her brown eyes. The perfect definition of beauty. I have never felt this way with anyone but Ava. Her beauty amazes me. The way she dresses. Her common sense. Perhaps because she was a model and she needed to be coordinated. Intelligence was her middle name. She scoffed at my words, avoiding my gaze. “I might not be getting involved with their son.” She muttered under her breath and I narrowed my gaze at her. “You don't mean that, do you?” I asked while she adjusted her dress, her hand folded to her chest In displease. “I'm afraid that I mean it. How can you even think of us getting married when your parents aren't in approval of me.” She rolled her eyes, not looking at my expression. “How can I make you understand things like this, Ava? I'm their only child and son at that. You don't expect them not to be so worried about my choice of wife. They are supposed to be,” I explained and she scoffed. “Is that supposed to be a persuading word? My mother agreed with you once you saw her. Why is yours this different?” She inquired, avoiding my hands on her shoulder. “I will have a word with them. Take a deep breath and in no time they will love you,” I assured and she curled up her lips, shaking her head in disagreement. “They are not even okay with my modeling. I love you, Ian and you need to make haste with your action. I have a meeting with my team on my tab,” she noted, walking out of my face as she headed into her room. I watched her retreat and inhaled deeply. I just hope she gets along with my parents. Why are they not seeing the good in her? My phone buzzed and I picked it up in annoyance. “You didn't send in the files I told you to. And you failed to acknowledge the client, Anika!” I yelled and silence eluded the place instead. “I…I'm sorry sir.” Her voice shook over the phone and I snickered. “Sorry? Do you realize I'm not Smith and you don't get to tell me sorry? I hate being begged. If you are so incompetent then you don't need the job as well. You are fired.” I said and I heard her gasp over the phone. “I'm sorry, sir. I will adjust and make…….” I ended the call before she could rant more, calling my PA to set in another secretary immediately. “I will make it known to the agent that we need a new secretary,” Franklin said and my lips curled up as a new idea crept into my heart. “How about the Ariel girl?” I asked and he shrieked. “What! She's the errand girl,” he announced and I sucked on my tooth. She's the errand girl but to me, she's the girl that rants about Virginity. “She's my new secretary.”
