Saphirra could not help the disappointment she felt as she looked at man she loved. He pulled her into his arms and she could smell the familiar scent of rosewood and pine. Being in his arms made her feel like she was home. For a moment she forgot about the mysterious stranger and could only think of the man in front of her.
He greeted her sister with a swift peck on the cheek, "Darling, join me for a stroll?" Saphirra's heart leaped to hear his voice again. She placed her hand in his as they began to walk to their garden where they shared their first kiss. She watched Christopher as he moved and noticed he had changed. He was confident and certain of himself as he held his head high and nodded as they passed by others. His smile and eyes showed a genuine warmth in them as he spoke. He paused to greet some familiar acquaintances and held a firm reassuring arm around her waist. He made sure as he spoke that she was included in the conversation. His body stayed turned towards hers even as he spoke to others
Princess Saphirra could not help but look ahead to their future together. She could see them ruling along side of each other happily. She could picture their children and what they would look like with their dark hair and bright eyes. They would be happy because they would grow up seeing their parents blissfully in love. The kingdom would rejoice to have a king and queen so in sync with one another. They would join their kingdoms together and everything would be harmonious and peaceful.
But what if it wasn't? What if she spent her whole life wandering if there was something more? What if he could never satisfy her when they become man and wife? She really did not know what to expect as she had never before given herself to a man. Her thoughts continued to race as Christopher spoke to her subjects. He was everything she could ever desire so why was she so uncertain?
"Love?" he said pulling her from her thoughts. "What's on your mind?" "Well, I'm just thinking about the future and what it could hold for us." "I'm glad you brought this up. The whole time I have been away all I have thought about is you and you becoming my wife. I only think of our future together. I feel as if I have waited a lifetime to make you mine. I do not wish to wait any longer. I want to marry you and take care of you. I want to give you everything your heart desires and then some. I do not expect anything from you besides your love and support. As my queen I know you will rule fairly and I will always trust your discernment. Of all the women I have seen, you are the most beautiful woman I have laid my eyes on. I need you to be the mother to my children for I know you will be kind and caring to them. I did not want to do this tonight, but standing in this spot where we shared our first kiss I want to ask you. May I have your hand in marriage? Will you join me in creating the family and kingdom we have always dreamed of? Allow me to love you and I will lay the world at your feet. I will sacrifice my own life to save yours. I will always wake up and go to sleep loving you."
She stared at him surprised by his words. No one would ever love her like Christopher, he was her best friend and had waited for her when she was too young and unsure. She looked into his eyes and said, "Of course I will be your wife. I would be honored to love you for the rest of my days Your Highness. You are everything a lady could dream of in a husband. I will do my best to be the wife you deserve."
He smiled and his blue eyes lit up, "You will never have to try to be the wife I deserve, but I fear I will need to work every day to show you how much I love and desire you." He leaned down and kissed her. This was their first kiss in months and his lips felt soft and familiar. He always has the softest lips she thought. His hands tangled into her long curls as he pulled her body closer to him. She could feel butterflies in her stomach and felt her lips curve into a smile as they continued to kiss.
Suddenly her sister was beside her squealing, "I did not mean to eavesdrop, but I heard everything! I am so so excited sister! Oh, we have a wedding to plan! This is going to be wonderful and you will be the most beautiful bride! Wait until we tell Mother and Father, oh the kingdom will rejoice!" Her sister continued to prattle on to Christopher complimenting his speech and making wedding plans already.
Saphirra smiled and nodded as they spoke, but she could not understand why when she said yes the mysterious stranger's eyes came into her mind. She kissed Christopher, but she wandered what his lips would taste like or what it would feel like to have his hands in her hair. She felt her cheeks redden and suddenly she felt hot. "I believe we should retire to our rooms for the night sister! We can share the wonderful news with everyone tomorrow and allow it to be our secret for tonight." Her sister nodded in agreement loving that she was in on the secret. They told Christopher goodnight as he leaned down and kissed her cheek, "Goodnight my future queen."
