Christopher came over to Saphirra as the party was ending, "Darling! This is our party and I feel as if I haven't seen you at all!" She laughed, "I am sorry my dear I have had so many people wanting my attention. I know you have been busy dealing with the militia meetings tonight." "At least allow me to have the last dance of the evening even if I could not have the first?"
He took her hand and led her to the dance floor as everyone moved aside to allow them to have the last dance to themselves. He pulled her close and she thought about how he made her feel. She felt at home whenever she was near him, he made her feel safe. She felt as if nothing could touch or harm her when he was close. He kissed her forehead and she felt butterflies inside. She knew she truly did love him and she knew that he needed her in his life to be complete.
There was no comparison though to the feelings Rhett gave her. He made her feel as if her whole body was on fire from one touch. She never felt like he needed her, but he desired and wanted her. One look into his eyes would send her world spinning. She had never felt with Christopher what she felt with Rhett and it all happened so quickly. She began to think of what their future could be if she wasn't a royal. She thought of their kids and what they would do to make those kids...
"Darling?" She looked up at Christopher and realized she was biting her lip and beginning to feel hot all over. "I'm sorry dear I was just dreaming I suppose. I am rather tired, escort me back to my chambers?" He nodded as they pulled apart and he waved goodnight to the King and Queen. He took her hand and they walked the corridor to her room. They talked about the day and everyone at the party, he told her of his plans for the military and how they were going to have new recruits soon. They talked as if they were each other's oldest friends because they truly were.
They arrived at her door and he took both of her hands in his, "I'm so sorry I missed our party tonight love. I promise I will make it up to you. I may not always be there for your first dance, but I promise to always be your last." She smiled at him, "I trust you will make it up to me soon. You always keep your word. We will have plenty of parties I'm sure." "I can give you my word I will be at the most important one, our wedding day. That will be the one that makes my life complete because I will have you forever." She smiled a tight smile, "Goodnight Your Highness." She stood up on her tip toes as he placed a soft kiss on her lips and each of her knuckles before letting go. "Goodnight my wife, I will see you in the morning."
She waited until he had walked away to walk to her sister's room and knock. Avianna opened the door, "I need you help, come with me?" She followed her to her room and shut the door. "I need you to help me find an outfit for tonight's meeting. I do not know what would be appropriate." Her sister laughed, "You are meeting a handsome man in the night and you want an outfit that is appropriate?" Saphirra frowned, "You're right I should not be doing this." "Of course you should, you are not yet a married woman."
Avianna walked to her wardrobe and pulled out a dress, "This will be perfect." The dress was floor length with a small train. It was black lace from top to bottom with a small silver jewel between the breasts. Avianna sat her down in front of the mirror and began to take her hair down. She ran her fingers through her hair and let her long curls fall down her back. She tied a black and silver ribbon in the top of her hair and put a black bracelet on her wrist. Avianna went to the closet and grabber a pair of flat black and silver shoes.
Saphirra looked at herself in the mirror as her sister put pink on her cheeks and red on her lips. She noticed she looked very appealing as women do when they want to make men lust after them. "Sister, am I attending a funeral? This is quite a lot of black." "Exactly it is perfect for a secret night time rendezvous. You look stunning I do not think he will be able to resist." Did she want him to resist? She was not sure what she wanted. "Christopher spoke of our wedding tonight, he is so looking forward to it." Avianna frowned, "He is such a gentleman Saphirra. I know you need to make this choice on your own, but do not lead him down this road if you are not planning to marry him. He deserves more than an indecisive woman. I know this contradicts what I said before, but choose quickly for you cannot have them both. Chris truly does love you Sister, and to not marry him may kill him. However you cannot help what your heart feels and you deserve to explore these feelings you are having."
Saphirra thought about what her sister was saying. "You're right, but I feel with Rhett what I have never felt before. Maybe this is just cold feet or a longing for something more, but I need to find out. I have to know before I make a choice."
