Since she had stayed up half the night talking to Gavin, Katherine woke up thirty minutes late to her one hour early school alarm. Even though it went off a lot before that.
She was very tired and annoyed that she had missed her alarm, going to the bathroom to fix herself up and then get in the shower. She had really bad eyebags right now, but she was sure they were going to go away soon so she ignored them, for now at least.
She showered then went downstairs to gather all her stuff, but she noticed that her bag was missing. She looked all over in a panic, and she still could not find the bag. It had everything she needed for the morning at school, so this was insanely bad for her, where did she even have it last? Would she ever find it again?
She was stressing a lot but she grabbed her phone and charger, setting outside to try and catch the bus, only for it to leave without her and make her walk all the way to school in the rain.
She didn't wanna bother her father with this, so she just did everything herself without any help. It was better this way, she wouldn't force anyone to deal with her issues she had created herself.
Once she got to the school, her hair was already ruined from the rain and she just looked generally terrible to everyone around her. This was not her normal day, but she could still survive it.
Some girls just stared at her, scoffing which made her feel slightly insecure, but she tried to ignore them. It wasn't like she was going to be friends with those losers anyways, her opinion was the only one that mattered.
Gavin was waiting in the hallway for her, not noticing her disheveled appearance and just waving at her. She smiled back but continued walking towards the front of the school library, sitting down next to it while still looking for her bag.
She couldn't remember where she had left her bag and it was stressing her out beyond measure, that had most of her stuff in it, if it fell into the wrong hands it would be devasting in every day for her.
Katherine tried to push the blond hair strands of hers out of her face so she could look for her bag more, it would be so much easier if she had her headphones on her head. But they were in her bag, which was missing.
The bell rang and she could not find her bag, her breathing starting to panic as she paced back and forth. That bag had a ton of important notes in it on top of it being her writing bag, this was not good at all for her and she was already having a panic attack over it.
"I... I'll fail.. I need to find it and I can't find it. This is so stupid." Katherine mumbled under her breath as she slightly banged her head against the wall of the hallway in stress, Gavin walked by her and finally started to worry about what was going on with her.
"Are you... okay?" Gavin finally got the courage to ask, in a very quiet voice of course, tapping on her shoulder to get her attention.
Katherine turned to him, her eyes looked bloodshot and filled with slight tears which made Gavin feel a little afraid but he still continued on figuring out what was wrong with her at the moment.
"I'm fine! I just... need to find where my bag is. I don't know where it went." She sounded less cheerful and friendly than she usually did most of the time, Gavin actually preferred this version of her. Nonetheless, he tried to remember where he had last seen her bag.
Which he could not figure out, he was tired himself due to staying up till 3 AM talking to her on the phone. Maybe if he had some coffee he might remember where he bag was, it was highly unlikely that he would though. He was the most unhelpful person on this earth, in his opinion.
"That... sucks. I wish I could help but right now I just feel tired from last night which... thank you. I enjoyed it." Gavin finally spoke up a little, shrugging in a bit of unknowingness as he looked at the wall behind Katherine so he could try to pretend he was making eye contact with her. He was really bad with eye contact in all aspects.
"I enjoyed it too, though next time we should probably have a schedule for when to get off the phone because clearly the no schedule isn't working for either of us." Katherine said in a sarcastic tone, followed by a small and faint laugh from her.
They noticed the bell had rang a few minutes prior to their conversation and went on their way to their different classes, since they only had math class together. And that was at 4:30 pm, it was a long way until then.
"I guess we both should get going..." Katherine sighed sadly as she looked expectantly up at the clock, getting her bangs out of her face so she could actually see what the hands were pointing to.
"Yeah... well, it was nice talking to you before class... Sorry you can't find your bag...." Gavin began, before remembering a very important detail as he forced open the door of the library.
It was all dark and dreary inside of the library so it was slightly hard to see, he saw the pink and shiny bag with stickers all over it on the table and brought it outside to Katherine.
"I knew where it was! Found it!" He said excitedly as her eyes lit up and she grabbed it from him, looking up at him with gratitude.
"Thank you so much for this... I owe you big time!" She gave him a very bright smile as she hugged him, it was a little awkward and uncomfortable at first but Gavin quickly got used to it.
"It's.. no problem... Good luck with class or whatever..." He mumbled again as he looked away from her, the touch was very new and uncomfortable to him so he just stood there like a statue.
They both headed off to their own classes, Katherine put this funny thing that happened as an idea that was in her story so she could soon make it into a book. She wondered what book she would use it for though.
She really did like him as both a person and other things, and he made it so hard to resist.
