A blinding light glared down at me as I willed my retinas to focus against the sharp pain in my head. I lifted myself into a sitting position and looked around the massive room I was lying in.
I was on a massive grey king-sized bed, everything from the walls to the rugs on the ground was modern and in grey-scale. The room had zero personality, no pictures or posters, not even a f*****g clock hung up on the walls.
This is not my room.
I glance down and let out a breath of relief. I was still in my dress. I didn't sleep with anyone, that's a good thing. Everything that happened last night was all a blur from the moment I left my room.
So where the hell am I? And how did I end up here?
I threw the covers aside and climbed off the bed and that's when I heard the shower tap turn off. I didn't even realize it was on in the first place.
Shit, I've been kidn*pped!
Why does bad s**t like this always happen to me?
Me of all people?!
Am I cursed or something?
I tiptoed past the bathroom to the front door careful not to hit anything to trigger attack mode on whoever brought me here. I slowly tried the knob then groaned in frustration. f*****g locked.
That guy could walk out here any minute so I had to make my escape fast. I crept to the window near the bed. Using my wolf strength I pried the window opened with ease and stuck my head out. The cool air licked at my sweaty skin.
I looked down and almost swallowed my tongue. I was five stories off the ground. I may have wolf strength but I'm not f*****g superman. If I jumped I could break my neck.
After a mini tantrum, I yanked the window closed and turned back to the room. I was running out of options.
As if my brain was playing the whole scene in slow motion I heard more than saw the bathroom knob jiggle then I froze.
Shit. s**t. f**k. s**t.
What am I doing?
I'm a warrior.
If you could knock out Carlos with one punch (and some magic) you could take this guy.
Then with a new sense of valour, I pressed myself against the wall beside the bathroom door, an antique lamp I swiped from the bedside table gripped tightly in my sweaty hands.
The door slowly opened and a man came out drying his hair with a towel and sweatpants hanging from his hips. He hadn't seen me. Yet.
Then I jumped on him with a fierce battle cry that sounded suspiciously like Russian (I don't know Russian). I wrapped my arm around his thick neck, trying to choke him unconscious like in the movies. But in one quick motion, he had thrown me over his shoulder and I landed neatly on the bed.
I didn't think. I bounced to my feet and lunged for him sending blows after blows. He evades them effortlessly. At one point he had me in a chokehold but I bit down hard on his arm and he'd released me with an unceremonious, "f**k," echoing around the room.
I didn't have time to react before he swiped my legs out from under me and I landed on the hard ground with an oomph. He climbed on top of me pinning my legs down with his and holding my arms above my head. "You bit me," he said in disbelief.
"No, I just tickled you with my teeth," I said sarcastically. "Now get the f**k off of me!"
His brown orbs glared down at me as I struggled under him. "Kai said you Crimsoncrest ladies are crazy but this is ridiculous."
"Let me go!"
"I don't know. Maybe I'll consider it when I'm not bleeding," he said through a locked jaw. His eyes gleamed a liquid gold as he stared down at me, his canines had elongated and his whole appearance scared the s**t out of me. He was both terrifying and divine and as much as I wanted to run for the hills my body wanted to touch him, everywhere.
Sparks were shooting up my hand from where he touched my bare skin and my whole body felt hot all of a sudden.
Something was nagging me in the back of my mind, begging me to understand something but I didn't recognize it and that only induced my already simmering rage.
I whispered a spell under my breath and the man yanked his hands from mines as if he'd been burnt.
Then lightning fast I thrust my hips upward, gripping him by the neck, I pushed him off me and he slammed down on the ground. In the next second, I was on top of him, straddling his taut waist. He didn't look the least bit bothered by my attack. In the early morning glow, I could see that he looked strangely comfortable with me straddling him.
My hand still gripping his neck I leaned forward.
"Listen closely, fuckface. I don't take kindly to assholes k********g me." The wind picked up around us and my magic sizzled under the surface of my skin. He looked up at me curiously. "I don't know what it is you thought I could give you but whatever it is, you've been sadly misinformed. I've been living off my parents for god-knows how long and I don't intend to drop the routine. Can't help it but I'm a lazy s**t. So if it's money you want, sorry to break it to you but you got the wrong Mckinley I. Am. Not. Your. Girl."
I sucked in a breath when he sat up then. We were inches from each other, my legs were still wrapped around him and my hand around his neck. This position seems to excite him, I could see more of his wolf coming to the surface the longer we share the same air. "That's where you're wrong, gorgeous. You are mine in every way."
That one word pulsated in the edge of my mind and brought a memory to the surface.
I saw a Lycan.
He was coming out of a garden. I was there, our eyes met and one word searing my skin and my heart beating out of my chest.
Mate.
My body went rigid. "You're my mate?"
"Looks like it, little witch," he said his lips curling up into an amused grin.
"B-But you're a Lycan," It came out harsher than I intended. Almost like an accusation.
"And you're a hybrid. You have any more obvious observations you want to share," he said dryly, though he sounded deep, husky and alluring, his voice gave off some unknown accent I wasn't familiar with. I forced myself not to melt in his arms and glared at him instead.
"Yeah. I have one more actually. I don't know what the laws are in Mars but here on Earth k********g people is illegal."
He narrowed his eyes at me. "You fainted last night, tesoro. I was doing you a favour. If you wanted me to leave your ass in the garden you should've been awake long enough to mention it."
I clamped my mouth shut and just stared at him. I was kidn*pped by my mate who just happens to be a Lycan who could kill me with his pinky if he really wanted to.
I'm telling you the moon-goddess has some kind of hidden agenda against me, I swear it.
I dragged my fingers into my hair, pushing it out of my face with a sigh. The Lycan watched the action as if he was entranced. "What's your name?"
I jumped a little at the casual way he asked as if seconds ago we weren't about to rip each other apart out of frustration. That and the fact that I just realized I'm still straddling him and he's shirtless.
He was sculpted to perfection. He had huge biceps the size of my head with tattoos running up and down his left arm that gave him a whole new aura of danger. Not forgetting the eight pack giving the impression he popped off a Calvin Klein ad and decided he was going to melt girl's ovaries. He was beautiful in all sense and I just realized something. He was all mines.
"Lois," I whispered, my cheeks burning with heat. Why am I flustered? I've seen plenty of shirtless dudes.
Maybe because he is your mate, i***t. My conscience argued back.
Shut up.
"Lois," He tested the name out and as cliche as it sounded he made my name sound ten times sexier. Goddess help me. "Gorgeous name, little witch."
Just then there was a pounding on the door. I hopped off of him startled.
"Yo, Mason! We need to talk! Get your ass up!" Someone hollered from behind the door.
Mason?
His name is Mason.
Mason scowled. "Hold that thought, love." He headed for the door. He ripped it open and glared at the unlucky bastard. "What the f**k do you want, Kai? I am in the middle of something."
"You were supposed to be in the middle of a meeting with the Alphas but you missed it to j******f in your room. Or—maybe someone's in there doing it for you." The man— Kai tried to peek over Mason's shoulders but he pulled in the door and with his broad frame didn't give much room for Kai to snoop.
"Does knowing who I f**k part of your job description, Kai?" Mason sighed. "Tell them I'll be down in a bit."
"If I only knew then that being your Beta would be so stressful I would've told you to shove it," Kai said. Mason laughed lightly.
"No you wouldn't."
"Yeah, you're right," Kai chuckled. "Ten minutes or I am getting your mother." Mason rolled his eyes and closed the door. I stood behind him, my hands folded over my chest. "You're an alpha and a Lycan. What next, you from Krypton?"
Mason grabbed a black t-shirt from a drawer and threw it over his head then turn to me. "I have to go now but when I get back we'll talk. And I promise I will tell you all about Krypton." I rolled my eyes. "Stay here. I'll be back." He pulled me into him, inhaled my scent then he disappeared behind the door.
I sighed.
I'm not staying here. Caleb would be worried after I haven't shown up for dinner last night and I left my phone in my room so I couldn't call him to tell him I'm still alive.
I paced the room for like two minutes before I got bored and left.
I get restless pretty quick and besides I was still wearing the dress from last night. I was in need of a shower.
I yanked the door open looked up and down the hall. It was empty. I stepped out then quickly did 'eenie meenie miney mo' for a direction seeing as I have no idea where I'm going.
Then I walked down the hall in hopes of finding my room or even better, Jax and Caleb. I needed to throttle them for leaving me alone last night. I was dreaming up ways I was going to murder those assholes when I ran into someone knocking us both to the ground.
"Ah, s**t!
