Blaring lights forced their way into her eyes, making them squint in response. A muffled groan escaped her lips as she sat up. Pain rushed up her back, forcing her to lay back down onto what felt like a steel slab. Laviania could feel her body, every muscle tense, yet she could no longer move anything.
“Has she woken up yet?” A voice asked, it seemed stern but yet there was hidden sincerity. For some odd reason it calmed her aching muscles.
Similar scents filled her scrunched nose as her senses came back to her. That mate of hers was nearby, she needed to get out of here before he found her.
She couldn’t have a mate; she didn’t want to be that close to any guy ever again.
Heavy breaths lifted up her chest as it rose and deflated, he was coming closer. Why was her body becoming so desperate for his warmth? It wasn’t even cold in here.
“It seems she just has,” A comforting voice said, it was female,” She seems a little stressed. Should I sedate her Ajax?”
“Laviania you need to get out of here,” Her wolf pleaded desperately,” The needles. What might they do to us when we can’t move?”
Laviania shuddered at the memory. Despite all of her body aching, feeling like a massive weight holding her down, Lavi pushed herself off of the slab and onto her feet. It was a quick movement that left her feeling worse than before but she had to stay on her feet- even through the struggle.
“Don’t come near me with anything,” She hissed, grabbing a sharp looking scalpel on the cabinet next to her, it burnt her exposed skin,” What the hell? This is silver,”
She didn’t let it go however, it was keeping the two guards she had only just noticed at the entrance to the small room. Now she could see it properly Laviania knew she was in some kind of medical suite.
The burning continued as she tried not to show her pain by biting her tongue. It wasn’t working, her hands were shaking and now her lip was in pain too. There were bright red marks appearing on her palm and wrist where the scalpel was resting.
Her eyes met Ajax’s. His irises were pure black, his expression was a mixture of shock, lust and anger. All three of those scared Lavi yet in a strange way the last emotion comforted her. There was a desperate protective gleam in his pupils.
“Put it down,” He growled, his voice had strong authority as my wolf struggled to overrule it.
Stepping backwards I stared him down,” No. Not until I’m out of wherever this is and going on with my life. I want to be free,”
The muscles in his face clenched in anger,” Put it down!”
Her hands opened as the silver utensil clanked on the floor. The metallic sound echoed slightly as her hands felt bare. Air that was being ventilated around the room grazed her palm, causing her to shriek in agony. Tears threatened to spill but she swallowed the lump in her throat. They couldn’t see her being weak.
“Good,” His voice was softer but Ajax still used his commanding tone,” Now come to me,”
Doing as obliged, Laviania walked towards him. Fear covered her face but she couldn’t resist his orders. This was all her fault; she should have kept running despite her pain. She could have left the territory and been safe by herself. It’s better when she’s alone.
Soon she was millimetres from his chest. His arms wrapped tightly around her, bundling her in the warmth she hated to say she craved. As she dared to snuggle closer into him her eyes caught the shine of some thin object being moved closer to her.
Eyes widened, Lavi pushed against his arms as a needle was being pushed towards her,” NO! Get that way from me!”
Screaming, she repeatedly punched his chest in desperation to get away. The needle edged closer and closer, her breathing became quicker and faster. Desperate he began kicking as well but it was useless with his strength and her tiny body.
Piercing her skin, the needle was pushed until all the liquid inside was in her arm,” What was that?”
Ajax looked guilty for a second but then his expression changed to stern,” Something that will calm you down,”
Laviania felt woozy. All her body became numb. Soon she was just laying against Ajax. With his arms he lifted her off of the ground gently and placed her onto the slab. Eyes closing Lavi felt the tears she had been holding back fall as he left.

Sat in his office Ajax rubbed his temples. Guilt resided within him as his mind played over what he had just done to his mate. His sweet beautiful mate. How he had scared her to the point holding silver was the best option did bewilder him. It was obvious she had some struggles deep within her past.
Upon seeing the injuries she had, Ajax decided that healing Laviania in the medical wing would be the best thing to do before moving her to an adequate prison cell. He still couldn’t fully trust her.
There was a knock at his door,” Come in,”
As he looked up he saw his sister walk in slowly,” Hey Ajax. You do know that Mum, Dad, Jasper and Phoebe return today?”
Growling he sat up, he’d forgotten about his siblings and parents returning after their long trip. As soon as he had become the official alpha the four of them left to relax. His other sister, Rebecca, was still at the pack-house. She had recently given birth to a baby boy named Frederick.
“No I’d forgotten Julie,” Ajax admitted, rising from his chair and walking over to her,” Do you think Phoebe is still going to be in a mood?”
Julie nodded slowly,” Yes in her eyes you took the role of leader from her. She knew that it was never rightfully hers. But you know how worked up she gets,”
Laughing slightly Ajax looked away. His sister Phoebe was his twin. She was born only a minute after him, making him the future alpha. Ever since they were old enough to talk she had ignored him and resented him. At the age of fifteen she had vowed that when he was finally happy she would find a way to take it all away from him.
“Just wait until she finds out you have a mate,” Julie joked, not really realising the weight of the words she had spoken.
Dread filled his stomach as Ajax remembered his sister’s promise.
