The moment I told my parents over dinner about my intentions asking Diana to the school dance, my Mother became so happy as if she’d never been mad at me and acted like yesterday never happened. Although it was a matter of disinterest to my father as he merely nodded and went back to finishing his meal.       “You better go shopping soon,” said Mother, an approving smile on her lips that I’ve barely received in my lifetime. “And you can take the car as well for the Prom night, and go pick Diana up. Oh, this is wonderful! I’m sure Mrs. Williams is just as delighted as I am. They think highly of you, Edwin.
