Prologue
New year, new day, new life. Yes. I am ready to face the new journey of my life! Last year is like a roller coaster ride and I'm glad that I survived that. I lost so many people in my life but I'm glad because GOD let the people I need to stay. “Hi ma'am, do you want a pillow so you can have a better sleep?” the beautiful tall flight stewardess asks. “No, thank you” I politely respond. “Okay, enjoy your ride ma'am” I smiled at her, and she went to the passenger next to me. I get my phone and look at my wallpaper. For some youths, using your family's picture as wallpaper is very corny and unlikable. But I'm not like them. I really appreciate my family because they were there when nobody else was. GOD gave me them for me to never walk the earth alone and I'm very lucky and blessed for having a good and GOD-centered family. When I was a child I used to attend Sunday school with my best friend Jia. She's the opposite of me, I am cute, sweet, and charming and yeah, she's the opposite of me. Our teacher in Sunday school is Jia's mother and my aunt. Yes, Jia and I are cousins, and she had a sister named Sia. And their mother's name is Mia. Sia is sweet and lovely while Jia is rough and grumpy. But Jia has a big heart and a big butt than Sia. She's not showy, but she'll love and care for you deeply. Jia is one of a kind person that you'll be thankful that you meet because she is hard on the outside but in the inside, she is soft like a cake. Sometimes I wish I'll be able to act like Jia, to feel like Jia. I wish I can protect my real feelings with others with a strong personality on the outside, but I guess I'm bad at that. I'm the opposite of Jia because I can't manage to hurt the feelings of others just to protect mine. Saying too much about Jia made me missed her so badly. She's in the Philippines right now taking her Master’s degree, while I am here at the plane, alone. Traveling forever to the States where my father lives before. The United States of America. I smiled when I saw a mother holding her baby together with her husband. I think she's a Filipina, and she's migrating with her husband and baby. Seeing these happy families makes me missed my family in the Philippines. My father, Gabriel Lucas Fall is a soldier, and He was based in the Philippines to train the Filipino cadets. My mother, Deborah Salvador is a nurse. They met in a very unexpected way, my father went to the hospital not because he is wounded because of the war, he came to my mother because he's having diarrhea. Not a typical type of first meeting, but my father fell in love with my mother instantly, and they got married and bought a small clinic in our province in Rizal. My father migrated here in the Philippines and retired at the age of 30. He helps my mother to run our small business. My mother is a Christian and my father, well he doesn't know what he is BEFORE he met my mother. When he fell in love with my mother, he also fell in love with JESUS and became His follower. After they got married, my father became a pastor and became missionaries. They went to different places to share the gospel and the Salvation through Jesus Christ. After 5 years of serving the LORD as husband and wife, the LORD gave them the most beautiful gift that they received. And that's me, yes they always remind me every night how and why I became their beautiful treasure. My mother was having a hard time to conceive during the first year of their marriage, but it never stops them from serving the LORD. They never lose their faith, they hold unto the verse of Matthew 17:20 and it became my favorite verse too. It stated that Faith can move mountains. It simply means that if you have faith in the LORD He will make it happen. After 5 years of waiting, they received their faith. They received Fatima Faith Fall. Fatima was the name of my late grandmother, my father loves her so much, and we had the same Birthday as well. So they named me after her. Every day, they made me feel how special I was and how blessed they are to have me. When I turned 7 they went to the USA to ministry, and they build a church there. I missed them so badly, so they went back to the Philippines after a year, they left the church with my uncle Tom. When I was 12 years old, I envy Jia for having a sister, so I ask my parents for one. But my mother still has trouble conceiving, so I pray and pray to GOD to give me a sister. I became faithful to my tithes and offerings and wish for a baby sister. After 3 years of waiting, they finally announce that I will be a big sister. I'm so happy that day and gave all my money to the church as my offering. After a year, I had my baby sister in my hands. Her name is Miracle Faith Fall, yes we both have faith in our names because she is a miracle from above and because of my undying faith and faithfulness. She was born, healthy, beautiful, and lovely. After 15 hours, the pilot finally announced that we're finally in Los Angeles, California. We landed safely and I rushed outside the airport to grab a taxi. After an hour, I finally reach uncle Tom's church here at Northridge. Northridge is a neighborhood of Los Angeles, California in the San Fernando Valley. My father and uncle Tom were born here. Uncle Tom lives near the church and I'm planning to stay in his house while I'm searching for a job here at Northridge for my masters. “Faith!” uncle Tom never grows old, he is still handsome like before. He hugs me and I hug him back. “How are you?” he sincerely asks. “I'm fine uncle” I softly answered. “Have you eaten already? Your aunt Karen cooked your favorite pancakes.” “Really? That's amazing uncle Tom! I can't wait to see her.” The moment I step into their house, I smell the aroma of aunt Karen's pancake. “Faith, my dear!” she runs to me and gave me a tight hug. “How are you?” “I'm fine, aunt Karen. I miss you so much! Where's Kevin?” Kevin. He is my cousin, the only child of Aunt Karen and Uncle Tom. “He's in school.” “I'm so excited to see Him!” “Take a rest first Faith, and tomorrow I will tour you here.” “Thank you, Uncle Tom. I will just fix my things upstairs and I will be back. I can't wait to eat those pancakes!” When I enter the old room of my father which is my room right now. I saw the wedding picture of my parents. They were so happy and young. -- Disclaimer: This is a work of fiction. Names, characters, places, and incidents either are the products of the author's imagination or are used fictitiously.
