6. Fear in the mind

556 Words
BEN’S POV I would rather be anywhere else but here. Curtis says it’s a necessary evil. We have no choice but I didn’t want to be here. Even being in the room alone caused shivers to run down my spine. When the door opened the quack walked in and Curtis immediately sat down. I on the other hand remained standing by the window. The slight breeze was the only thing keeping me stable, right now. “Close your eyes,” she told us. Reluctantly, I did. “Think back to that night. Where were you?” The restaurant- Mi Amore. “Who were you with?” Curtis & Angel. “What were they wearing?” Curtis was wearing a suit and Angel was in a breathtaking silver dress. It was short but not vulgar. She had a glittery shawl to match and wore heels even though she hates them. She was wearing them for us. Her hair which was medium length back then, was curled and tucked behind one ear. “Where they happy? How were they feeling?” Happy. Definitely happy. She kept biting her lip to contain her smile. Her cheeks flushed when we both held her dainty hands and told her we loved her. “Did their emotions suddenly change?” Yes. She was whimpering. I can hear her crying, begging. “Stop, stop.” Suddenly I can see again. Angel is underneath me. I’m kissing her shoulders, roughly. I’m working my way down and when she wriggles, I hold her down so she can’t escape. I rip her dress. I need to see her. Need to see her fully in front of me and Curtis is the same. This isn’t us. We promised to take things slow. Why are we so rough? Why are we doing this? Stop. Stop. “BEN!!” My eyes snap open and the quack is staring at me, her arms on my shoulder as she shook me awake. I’m on the floor. I don’t even remember falling. I sit up and look across to Curtis who is sat there in silence. The quack walks back to her chair. “Did that help?” She asks. All we can muster is a nod of our heads. “Thank you.” We say as we leave and find somewhere we can talk alone. “How?” I asked. “Why? Why would we do that to Angel?” “We were drugged. We were fine until we got that complimentary drink. After that we totally lose sense of ourselves.” Curtis leans against the wall. “She’s never going to forgive us.” “We have to try.” I say. Curtis finally agrees with me and we head to our apartment. We managed to score the address when we set our personal assistant on the hunt to find it. We reach her door and knock. There’s an agonising five minutes while we wait and then she opens the door. The minute I see her I forget everything we’ve come to do. I just want to hold her. Be near her. Quickly realising who’s at her door she tries to shut it but I put my foot in the way. “Angel, let us explain.” “That night we were drugged.” Curtis shouts. “We would never hurt you. We made you a promise that we were going to take things slow and not rush. We don’t break promises. Please you have to believe us.” She stands up straight and I remove my foot. I think for a second that she’s going to let us in. We can finally talk. Get everything out in the open. I’m wrong. She slams the door in our faces and we hear her lock it.
