Like the criminal that I was, the mean-faced man put me in chains. I tried to resist of course, and the consequence lies in the black eye on my left eye. After that, I knew I had to behave, and the entire walk from the pack hospital to the pack house felt like a humiliation ritual. Every street we passed by, people came out to look at me with hostility. None uttered a single word, but at the same time, their faces looked like they were having an entire conversation. Must be the telepathy thing Jesse talked about. Somehow, it reminded me of the faces of everyone when I was accused of murder. That look of hatred and disgust. Except that I know I didn't commit any crime against these people. Werewolves, as Jesse called them. We stopped in front of the Pack house and my heart picked a race. The thought of meeting that strong woman and what she would do to me. My body trembled. "Will you get in yourself or do I have to drag you in?" the man growled at me, but in the blink of an eye, his knees were on the ground as he clutched his abdomen. I blinked twice, unable to believe what happened. "Come on, Axel. Don't be so mean to my dear guest," Luna Paige spoke, and I wanted nothing more than to turn and run away. She just punched a big man like him and acts like it's nothing. "Sorry Luna," Axel apologized with a bow of his head before standing up. "Oh. Look at what you did to her precious face." She grabbed my chin, her sharp nails digging into my face as she turned my face looking at it. I glared at her and jerked my face away. Her jaw ticked, and her eyes showed a glint of irritation. "Come on, go in and prepare yourself. Tonight is going to be all about you," she said before turning and leaving. I let out a sigh of relief. At least she didn't hit me. But what did she mean by that? I wanted to ask, but Axel's face didn't seem all too welcoming. Inside, the mansion seemed to be busy, all the staff going around decorating the house. Even though I was familiar with some of them, they all looked at me like all those people outside, their eyes expressing hatred. Axel unchained me before saying in a warning tone. "Go to your room and don't do anything stupid until you get called," He turned and left. With my head held up, refusing to feel intimidated, I followed the hallway back to our room. I had just sat on the bed when the door opened, revealing Gracie. She held a tray of food as she approached me. My stomach growled, and I felt a sense of déjà vu. At the same time, there were so many questions I wanted to ask her. Is she okay? How did she get into trouble with the Luna? And how a happy night turned sour. Gracie stopped in front of me, and as usual, I expected her to sit beside me. "Gracie," I started to say, but ended up gasping as the tray of food was dumped on my head. Orange juice dripped from my head down my body while spaghetti slithered its way down from my hair and dropped on my shoulders and laps. "G-gracie!" I exclaimed. I was beyond shocked. There was no way this was a mistake. I looked at her face and was faced with a menacing glare. "Do you think I was the reason you got into trouble with the Luna last night?" I asked her. It was the only explanation I could come up with as to why she would treat me this way. Gracie scoffed. "I am glad last night happened. Else I would never get to know your true colors. You human trash." "What did I even do to you?" I stood. Causing the remaining spaghetti on my head to flop to the ground. "For days. I found you suspicious. I kept asking, but you kept avoiding the question," she sneered angrily. "And what does my being human have to do with anything?!" I cried out in frustration. "It changes everything!" she exclaimed angrily. "I would never have associated with you if I had known who you were!" she said and my heart stopped for a second. Does she know that I... "But I didn't do anything, I swear. I didn't do anything to you..." "I know. But it's humans going to packs and killing everyone. I barely escaped alive after my entire pack and my parents were maimed and mutilated by you humans." Tears streamed down her face, but that wasn't enough to quell the fiery rage blazing in her eyes. "Gracie, I didn't know about any of this," I said softly. "I..." "I don't want to hear any of your lies. Humans are all the same to me. I bet they sent you here as a spy. But I hope you meet your end tonight," she spat before leaving the room, slamming the door after herself. I was left with deafening silence. So many thoughts raced through my head. Until now, I wasn't even aware that werewolves existed. The door opened once again, but this time, it was Lize carrying another tray. "What a hot mess," she smirked. "I bet you wished it happened sooner." "You should have known when she kept asking about your identity," she ignored my remark, coming over and placing the tray of food on the bed. "Are you actually being nice to me?" I asked, eyeing the tray she brought. "It's the least I can do. You gain some energy for what's about to come," she said, a hint of sadism underlying her tone.
