MY SECOND LIFE AS A SIDE CHARACTER

Chapter 1 Every day is the same. I will wake at the ray c***k of dawn. Take a bath, choose my suit, put on some makeup while having a phone call, skip breakfast because the matters in the office are always urgent, then drive out of the house to the company. Every day this is my routine. I don't have anything beyond that. No social life and no private life. I am always on call, overseas or local. My eyes see either a computer, tablet, or papers. I don't even have the leisure to enjoy a drink. "Yes, Chairman, I am on my way to the meeting. I will be right there in half an hour. We will discuss how this venture will take place. Yes, yes. Thank you, goodbye." With a big sigh, Leah turned off her phone. She was tired, very tired. All she had done was work. There is no time for a break. She massaged her forehead because it was throbbing for a while now. She is Leah Banks the CEO of LUO Group of Companies. She is a strict and dependable business woman. She has long black hair like a night sky. Her eyes were like stars that twinkle at night. She is a beautiful woman who was admired by many men and envied by other women. She has everything in life. Money, car, house and a successful career. But all of that means nothing to her. She is looking for something. Something that will ignite her interest and other feelings that she had forgotten. "Ma'am, are you alright?, " asked by her worried secretary. Leah didn't answer and just stared outside of the window. Admiring the morning view that she didn't notice before until now. She felt calm while looking outside. She saw a happy family walking past their car. They looked so happy. She is wondering that if she grew up in an ordinary family, will she be happy? "What an absurd imagination, " Leah said. I don't think that if I grew up in an ordinary family, I would be in this position. Maybe I will just be an ordinary employee somewhere or maybe I will be poor, so poor that I couldn't find a decent job. But maybe that is okay. Because at least I can experience the life of an ordinary family with a loving mother and father, maybe had siblings too. Leah couldn't stop herself from imagining because, although she has a complete family, she is longing for the care, attention and love of her parents. She broke off from her imagination when her secretary spoke. "Ma'am, your flight has been confirmed. You board your flight at 4 p.m in the afternoon, " The secretary reminded her. "Okay, good. Is everything in order for the meeting? You know that I don't want half ass work, " Leah replied. "Yes ma'am. I already confirmed that everything is ready." "Good. Tell me when we arrive at the office, " Leah said. "Yes, ma'am, " the secretary confirmed. And with that she closed her eyes because her head started to ache again. This is going to be a long day again. I hope that I will be able to get a little rest while I am out of the country. Anyways, everything is going to be good because of the game that we just launched. What is the title of the game again? Ah, Jue of Armageddon. I tried to play it and it was quite entertaining. While she was thinking about the game, she fell asleep. Where am I? I remember I was inside the car. Why is it so dark? Then suddenly, a bright light shone. She blinked twice then realized that she was inside of the plane. What the hell am I doing here? And why can't I move or speak? What the hell is happening? She looked outside and saw that the engine on one the wings of the plane was on fire. Then she heard the voice of the pilot but couldn't understand what he was saying. All she knew is that something terrible was going to happen. And it happened. The plane started going down. She braced herself for the impact. She woke up from her dream before the impact. She is breathing heavily. The dream was so real that she actually couldn't discern if it was real or not. Her sweat was falling down her face. She looked at her surroundings and saw her secretary with a concerned look. "Ma'am are you alright? You were tossing and turning while you were asleep. We tried to wake you up but you wouldn't. Then you screamed." Still breathing heavily, she looked outside and realized that they had arrived at the office. She calmed herself up in order to make her secretary feel at ease. Her secretary handed her a handkerchief to wipe her sweat. "Thank you. I am alright. I just had a bad dream. Let's go up. We have a meeting to attend, " Leah said while she was still panting heavily. Her secretary nodded at her. Then they went up to go to her office. Her day continued as if that dream was nothing more than a distraction to her. She went to the meeting as per schedule. Leah has so much work for her to do that she forgot the dream that she had that morning. She was still busy reading the documents that she will use when she goes on the business trip when her secretary knocks on the door. "Ma'am, sorry to interrupt you but it is time for us to go to the airport. Your plane is ready to board. They are waiting for you," her secretary said to her. Leah put the documents down and closed her eyes for a little while. "Is it already that time? I have a mountain of work that I didn't notice at the time," she replied. She sighed and remained silent for a moment. Her secretary just looked at her tired face. The secretary was worried for her because she didn't have a proper rest all day and there is that thing that morning. "Ma'am, we're going to be late," her secretary reminded her again. "Yes, I know. I will just fix these documents then go out. Wait for me in the car, " Leah nodded and replied. "Yes, ma'am," said her secretary. Her secretary left the office. When she heard the door closed, Leah opened her eyes, paused for a moment then gathered the documents and put it inside of her bag. With another sigh, she walked out of the office. They were travelling to the airport where the private plane was located. Leah looked out of the window and saw the sun started to set. She realized how time flies when you are buried with work. The airport is not that far from the office so they arrived soon. "We're here ma'am." The secretary announced. She got out of the car and went to the waiting plane. It was their private plane so it was so easy to go from country to country. They boarded the plane. She put on her seatbelt and closed her eyes. In a matter of hours, she will be in another country. They took off in a matter of minutes.
