Katherine kept her distance in case that would be a trap. It wouldn't be a first for vampires to attack wolves, and she was a perfect target, as there was no other wolf with her. She was watching the man on the ground, but there were no signs of movement. There was also no more vampire scent in the air than his own. And blood. Not a human or werewolf, but a vampire. It looked like he was wounded. ~ Should we check on him?~ Katherine asked Lucy. ~ Are you seriously asking me that? The good vampire is a dead vampire. There is no need to change it. ~ Her wolf had a firm opinion. It was very accurate. Vampires and werewolves never get along. It was going like forever. Unfortunately, in the past, both species fought against each other, and it didn't help at all. Yet, Katherine still felt sorry for the man on the ground. ~ I need to shift and take a look at him.~ The Luna finally decided. ~ Have you lost your mind?- Lucy growled in her mind. ~ I can't just stand here and watch him die. ~ Katherine said. ~ I have no problem with that. ~ Her wolf was adamant. It took a little longer than usual to shift, as Lucy was doing her best to stop her human, but finally, Katherine succeeded. She dressed herself and started slowly walking towards the creature on the ground. She kneeled next to the man on the ground, slowly turning him around to take a better look. Immediately, she noticed a large amount of blood on his clothes. A few more minutes and he would be dead for good. Something was causing this loss of blood. And soon she found out what it was. He had a few silver bullets in his body. It was surprising that he was able to run away with those things inside of him. This vampire had to be incredibly strong, as any other would be long gone. ~ Yes, that is amazing. But he will be dead one way or another if they stay there a bit longer. ~ Lucy said, and she was right. Vampires are usually not very tanned, but this man was white as a sheet. Katherine looked around to find something to help her with what she was about to do. And she was lucky. This vampire was carrying a small, sharp knife. ~ That will do. I can also help myself with claws.~ She told her wolf while ripping off his shirt. ~ I hope he will appreciate that and won't kill us when he heals. ~ Lucy was full of sarcasm today. Katherine took a knife and slowly pushed it into one of the holes. To her luck, the man on the ground was not moving, which made her task more manageable. ~ Unless he is already in the afterlife, your work is pointless. ~ Yes, her wolf was helpful, so he decided to block her at least until she finished. The two first bullets came out quite quickly, which filled Katherine with hope. The third one was a bit harder to dig out, but her claws came in handy. There was one more left. This one was deep and was the main reason why this vampire lost so much blood. Katherine focused on taking it off, but it seemed like it was necessary to cut the wound more, to grab it. After a slight hesitation, she cut through the vampire's body. It was a bit risky, but there was no other way. She spotted the bullet and dug her claws to take it out. That was not an easy task as her hands were all covered in blood, and the pellet was very slippery. But she made it. Now the vampire's body had to kick off on healing, and he would have a chance to survive. The Luna sat next to the man, waiting for any sign of his body starting to heal, but not much was happening. ~ Why is he not saving himself?~ She was wondering. ~ I might not be an expert here, but he lost so much blood that he would need some to replace the loss. ~ Lucy said. She was still upset about blocking her but decided to help. A little, as this vampire meant nothing to her. ~ I can give him some of mine. ~ Katherine was ready to make this sacrifice. ~ Did you ever listen to what they taught you in school?~ Lucy asked her. ~ If you give him your blood, then he will be dead in a second. ~ So what should I do?~ Katherine was already annoyed by her wolf. ~ You need to find some animal and give its blood to him. ~ That is gross. ~ This option disgusted the woman. She would have to slit the throat of some innocent animal. ~ OK, so we can go home and let him die peacefully. ~ Fine, you are grumpy today. ~ Katherine stood up and ran towards the woods. Soon she was able to find two rabbits which were not fast enough to escape her. The woman grabbed them and knocked them down. She wouldn't be able to kill them any other way. Holding her unconscious pray, she returned to the vampire, who was still not showing any improvement. After putting the rabbits on the ground, she took a knife, ready to do what she had to do. But she couldn't do it. Her hand was shaking. She had never killed anyone or anything in her life, which was unusual for a wolf. ~ Let me take control for a second. ~ Lucy offered her help, and Katherine obeyed instantly. A few seconds later, her wolf backed off, and she was again in complete control. The rabbits were already dead with slight cuts on their necks. ~ What are you waiting for? Grab them and let the blood drop into his mouth. Katherine grabbed the dead animal and lifted it to the man's lips. The blood was slowly dripping into his mouth, making her nauseous. She repeated the whole process with the second rabbit. ~ I think it is working. ~ Lucy said in her mind, and she was right. Vampire's wounds were slowly closing themselves. As for any supernatural creatures, it should take much less time, but the damage caused by the bullets was severe. But at least it was working. ~ Maybe we should go already.? You did your job, and now he can take it from there. ~ As the vampire was getting better, Lucy was ready to leave. ~ You are probably right. He should wake up soon. I am not sure what his intentions could be.~ Katherine shot a last glance at the man who looked like he was in deep slumber. He seemed pretty young with brown and curly hair and full lips. His long eyelashes could make any woman jealous. Now, when his body was healing correctly, you could see how muscular it was. ~ Yes, he is pretty good-looking, but he is still a vampire. We should go. ~ Lucy reminded her. Katherine looked around after the knife she had been using before. It belonged to this man, so it should be returned to where she took it from. It was still on the grass. She grabbed the blade to put it back, but before Katherine had a chance to move, her hand was trapped in a firm grip. Luna let out a quiet growl, cursing herself for not listening to her wolf. This mistake could cost her a lot. But there was not much she could do. She raised her eyes to meet the icy blue eyes, watching her carefully. He was a royal. This vampire was a freaking royal. Only the close members of the vampire royal family had blue eyes. Every other vampire had red eyes, which turned black when they were hungry. She was trying to remember what she had ever heard about them. It was more a story than actual knowledge. The royal vampires were a mystery, as there were not many of them left. They were living in a castle, but no one knew its location. Clearly a story. But now it looked like the story was true as she was looking at the living proof of that—a vampire with electric blue eyes. And those eyes trapped her. She wanted to move away, but something was stopping her from that. The iron grip on her wrist was also doing its job. The man was still looking at her without a word, and his eyes were not leaving her face like there were seeing through her soul. It was making Katherine very uncomfortable. She was frustrated that her body was not listening to her. Lucy was right. They should leave when there is a time for that. Now she was paralyzed by this man's eyes, unable to move. But it was nothing compared to what happened when he finally decided to speak. - You saved my life. Why?- He asked in a voice that sent shivers through her body. - It was the only right thing to do. - She replied in a shaky voice. - Many of your kind wouldn't agree with you.- He pointed out the truth. - I am not like the others. - Katherine said, trying to look away, but it was impossible. That had to be some kind of magic. Some vampire tricks. - That is obvious. I would never think about being saved by the reborn wolf. - The man giggled, watching her gasp with surprise. - How...?- She asked, but he just smiled.
