6. Into The Game Room

1240 Words
"...And this is the game room." Apparently, it seems that I need not pretend anymore....If dreaming of Lucifer isn't enough evidence that I'm really his reincarnation, then I don't know what is. But I can't seem to understand why I wasn't born looking like the hulk? ...No, the real question is, how could the great King lucifer be reincarnated as a measly loser like me?...if not a demon, any other human would've been much better. I mean, have a little conscien- "Sire?" Sapheme suddenly called. I looked to her, my thoughts slowly evaporating. "Huh?" Her gaze searched my face, brows knitting in worry. "May I ask what is worrying you so greatly?" 'Mind your own business.' Was what I really wanted to say, but I resisted the very prominent urge and instead, pinched the bridge of my nose in irritation. "It's nothing. What did you say this was?...the guest room?" I asked, walking by her and into the room so as to stop her from digging any deeper. "It is the game room." She corrected, walking in after me. She said it was a game room so obviously, I went in expecting to find an x-box or something... But what laid inside was anything but. The room was separated in a total of three sections, each having their own inhabitants. The first section consisted of exactly 12 men, hanging across the ceiling by the ropes tightly encasing their necks. It was currently unknown as to why, but a five second timer was above their heads and over in the far corner, there was a black bow along with a bunch of arrows tied together by a thin white cloth. Shock engulfed me at the cruel display and slowly, my devastated gaze traveled across the thick wall separating that side from the others, and transfixed on around thirty men standing in six organized lines, with the exception of the one standing up front, a vibrant red headband tied around his head. None of them had shackles on their limbs but though the distance wouldn't allow me to say exactly what it was, I could tell that something was around their ankles...Then, my eyes zoomed in on a weird-looking gun leaning against the wall. The trigger and all were there but the design completely differed from the ones used in the human world. The last section was fairly similar to the one in the middle, only difference was that the men there were dispersed and the weapon leaning against the wall wasn't a gun but a sword. Suddenly, like whooshing wind, misery sped by me and coursed around intensely, filling the room with a very gloomy ambience that induced nothing but pity and anger to rise within me. A thought then came to me and I immediately recognized it as the truth...They were using these poor, helpless humans as play toys, things that only had the purpose of entertainment. My stomach churned in disgust. "Please tell me that this is not what I think it is?" I tried to hold back the venom in my tone but my restraints deserted me as quick as anger pulsed through my veins. "Do not worry, sire. These are all humans who have committed horrid deeds. This is the punishment you bestowed upon them hundreds of years ago," she defended casually. It took a second for her words to soak in my head, and when it did, a feeling of utter relief washed over me. My gaze flickered over to Sapheme in shame. "I thought they were captured and made into play things...What have they done anyway?" "Those who have committed crimes such as r**e and gruesome murders, can receive this kind of punishment if it is repetitive, but ultimately, it all depends on the brutality of their crimes and the signs of remorse after doing so. But if you so desire, I will release them from their shackles and instead, they shall receive the simplest punishment possible. However, you must keep in mind that whether they are humans, witches, demons or any other species...there is no prejudice." I nodded in understanding. So this place is like a jail cell, I suppose. Now, I kinda feel guilty for cursing her and ashamed at the same time for defending those unworthy punks. I glared at them. I can't believe I still can't tell the guilty and the innocent apart. I'm not sure if I'm just dumb or if it's them that have a talent for deceit. I'll go with the latter. "Since we've cleared that up, would you like to know how each game is played?" I shrugged. It wouldn't hurt to know how everything works just in case I end up here whenever I die. They claim that there is no prejudice but I'm sure the past Lucifer had done a lot of unjust things. What if they take it all out on clueless ole me? I won't rule that possibility out just yet. "The first game is called countdown." She started, walking closer. I inched nearer as well then stopped, a wary feeling passing over me. "Your goal is to save these people. The timer above their heads is a countdown to their deaths. Whichever timer starts counting down first, is chosen at random. You must shoot down every single person before their timer hits zero." She moved to the right as she neared the end of her explanation. "If you save someone who's countdown hasn't started or someone dies before you can save them, you will lose...It is a bit boring compared to the other two if you ask me." "Bullseye is the most addicting one. Using the gun over there, you must shoot as many moving targets as possible. The man with the red headband is your team mate, assist him until he reaches the other side. Each target you shoot, takes him a step closer to the finish line, the more head shots the faster. However, if they manage to injure him before he arrives, you lose." I nodded, jaw slack in amazement. Who knew games like these were played in the Underworld? After taking one last intrigued glance at the gun, I mirrored Sapheme's actions as she begun moving over to the last game. "And lastly, we have freeze. The sword you see over there, was once wielded by the Ice Queen...everything it touches freezes completely. With it, you must pierce through the skin of all your opponents in order to freeze them. If all thirty are frozen for over twenty seconds, they will splatter into shards and you will win...However, they can be thawed. The number of those who are thawed after being frozen depends on the number of hits you receive. So if you freeze ten and you receive five hits afterwards, five of your opponents will be thawed. When it exceeds ten minutes in the game and your task is not complete, you automatically lose." Sapheme turned to me once she finished speaking and smiled brightly. "Which one do you like best?" "The first one." I answered a little too quickly that I fear she might've caught on that I was lying. I admit, they are each very fascinating, but the fact that these games couldn't be won by a wimp like me was the reason why I didn't like either of them. "How about you give it a try then?" I did a double take. HELL NO!
