"I'm not riding that." I declared, pointing to the creatures who were now lined up infront of us, some rubbing themselves against each other whilst the others chewed on the low grass that scattered over the land. I scrunched up my nose. Vegetarians? Why the long teeth though?
"Then, would you rather we walk all the way?" Delari's soft murmur caused me to move my gaze to her. She tucked her blond hair behind her ear then fidgeted with her fingers as she looked up at me from under her thick lashes.
She looked...cute. Full lips, button nose, double eyelids and small striking red eyes...every feature was the perfect, each complementing the other. I don't doubt that her looks are a rare treasure here.
I didn't need to touch her to know that her skin was soft and smooth. It all seemed so pristine that I deliberately searched for any blemishes, whether large or small. But I soon came to know that she was utterly flawless when it came to beauty. In the human world, she'd probably be labeled as a goddess...
But her cute face wasn't capable of holding my attention for too long...I did my best not to let my gaze travel downwards to her exposed cleavage and instead, fought to keep my eyes glued to her face, but my self control deserted me the moment I thought my resolve was resolute and I caved in to my desire to glance down at her breasts.
The urge to just dip my head down and bury my face between them emerged, but I was levelheaded enough to stop temptation from conquering reasoning once again.
With an immense amount of reluctance, I lifted my eyes back to her face, the action causing me to notice the slight change to her cheeks. It was faint but I could tell that her cheeks were tinted red. I swallowed. Did she just see me check her out?
I mentally slapped myself. Stupid! Stupid! STUPID!
I quickly turned in the direction where the others were standing, only to see them staring intently at me. Rubbing my neck embarrassedly, I busied myself by resuming to voice my discontent with the situation which I had momentarily forgotten about.
"Isn't there any other way to get there? Like a car or something?" I knew the question was stupid and senseless but anything would do, as long as it filled the awkward silence.
"There are no such things as cars in this realm." Sapheme answered simply, c*****g her head in a suspicious manner as she watched both Delari and me. She was too attentive for her own good.
Gylador nodded in agreement and opened his mouth to add to her words, "Yes, it is either you ride that, or you walk, but keep in mind that we have a very long way to go and there are a lot of creatures roaming the forest, creatures far more terrifying than these. If you choose to take the risk of walking, then we will follow you, but I'm afraid your life would be in jeopardy. They'll gobble you whole the first chance they get."
I flinched, squinting my eyes. If Gylador wanted to instigate fear, then he did a pretty good job. Creatures far more terrifying? The hell?! Does this place have more creatures running around than demons?
...Not that the opposite would be pleasing.
"I don't think I want to enter that forest."
"We have to, it is the fastest way to the palace."
Hearing Sapheme's words, I clenched my eyes shut and sighed. Who knew I'd have to go through so many shitty situations just to save a few lives? I shook my head in sullen displeasure as the ends of my lips turned downwards. The idea of going back to earth as soon as possible is gradually getting more tempting. I suppose these constant dangers posed against me are the cause.
I reopened my eyes when I felt someone poke me on the arm. I looked down at Delari. Her lips parted slightly, slowly allowing air to escape as her eyes met mine for a brief moment, then like always, diverted elsewhere.
"If it will e-ease your fear, I will r-ride with you," she proposed, her voice a little too low that I almost didn't catch what she was saying.
Taken aback, my lips opened and closed, my mind not putting forward any words to answer her, but instead roaming with the question: 'Does she want to help me or kill me?'
Those sharp teeth these creatures possessed aren't very trustworthy so my fear will definitely tone down a bit if she rides with me, but at the same time, it will be stressing. I've ridden a horse before but never with a woman accompanying me, a pretty demon at that. Despite how shameful it is to admit it, becoming flustered is inevitable. Riding with a girl pressed against me? I don't think a s*x deprived i***t like me will live through that.
But still, it's the only option I have.
"First of all, I'm not scared of these big, ugly looking creatures." I started, "I'm just a powerless human trying to keep myself out of harms way. Isn't that what you call prudence?"
Seeing my disgruntled appearance, she tried to retract her words, "Yes sire, my apologies for not-"
"But--" I cut her off. "...I will ride with you. The company will indeed keep me at ease."
Her eyes immediately grew wide, a rare excited smile forming on her lips. "I am glad to be of help."
She quickly gestured for me to get on first and I swallowed before taking a heavy step forward.
"Sire, we do not have all day." Sapheme reminded me, walking by me then swiftly hopping unto the creature's back without much difficulty. I sent her a sharp glare as I continued to creep closer to the smallest one which stood directly infront of me.
Once I was standing a few inches away from it, I took a deep breath to calm my nerves. Alright, let's just get this over with!
I lifted my left foot and quickly threw it over its back, my body then instantly stilling as I waited for its supposed aggressive reaction. But to my surprise, nothing followed that course of action. The creature didn't even move.
Maybe this won't be so bad after all.
I settled myself comfortable atop it and tightly gripped the horns on its head to keep myself steady. Delari hopped on after me, her arms slowly inching around my waist. My body froze for a second time.
...And then, without even waiting for me to accustom myself with her warm body against mine, the creature suddenly spun around and took off into the wilderness at a speed that was beyond anything I imagined.
