We drove off to town which wasn't far from our estate, 'Vera outfits and collection' was always our joint, we'd buy most of our clothes from there, I showed my mom and she loved it.
"Hey Brianna" Vera the owner said and I smiled
"Hey Vera" I said while I greeted her briefly and Ruby did the same too
"I can see you guys are back, when did you come back home?"
"Just a few hours ago" I said while I walked towards the shelves
"Ooh great welcome back home, and I got some new designs you can check on the furthest end I hope you like them" she said and I didn't hesitate
"You always know my taste Vera so, I must just find something to suit me"
We checked almost the whole store, we tried a few dresses and skirts, jeans and shoes too, we bought a lot of clothes more than we had intended to, I paid using my credit card while Ruby used hers, our parents always made sure our accounts were loaded so we wouldn't get I'm trouble if we're out, that by they opened bank accounts for us though I'm their names since we didn't have the national identification cards.
It was almost five o'clock in the evening when we finally walked out of the cloths store, we put the bags in the back seat.
"I'm feeling hungry already" Ruby lamented from the other end as soon as we were inside the car
"Well you just spoke my mind too, I'm super hungry so what do you suggest?" I asked as I adjusted my safety belt
"Why don't we pass by the restaurant, grab some late lunch before we head home?"
"Sound like a great idea, let's get going then, which restaurant by the way?" I asked
"The usual one or should we try the new one, I heard they prepare some good food, let's go get their Kebab, and order for a take away pizza?"
"Too much junk food let's see what is in their menu first before you order what is not even served"
"Too much junk food as if you won't eat, anyway drive faster I'm famishing" Ruby said and I smiled
"You and I both know 60km/hr is my limit so be my guest honey"
"Whatever driver just take us to that damn restaurant I'm famishing"
One thing I loved about Ruby she was always true and never hid her feelings, she would eat a lot laugh a lot, joke around but she was never quick tempered always free and open, that's what our relationship was always about.
After fifteen minutes of driving in town, we finally got to the sad restaurant, it was a classy one and judging from the look it was for the rich people only, I didn't mind about that, all my thoughts were on the food to be served, I parked my car just beside others in the parking lot, made sure the doors are locked before we walked in the restaurant.
The waiter walked towards our table immediately we settled down, we had chosen the furthest table with a good view of the whole room, from where we were seated we could see everyone and those who entered from the doorway.
"Welcome ladies, what should I get you?" A lady in her mid forties said and I smiled.
"Why don't you get each one of us a glass of fresh and cold mango juice as we go through the menu"
"Ooh sure" she said and turned to go
"Ooh and Mrs Smith add ice cubes in one glass please"
"Okay I got you"
When she left I turned my attention back to Ruby who was busy smiling sheepishly on her phone
"You were hungry a few minutes ago you now smiling like a teenage girl on your phone huh Russell is doing wonders I see"
"Ooh please shut up Bree, we both know that ain't Russell"
"And who is the lucky guy, I know when you take to Russell you're always all smile so don't let me guess I know it's him" I said and she blushed pink
"Okay fine, it's him are you happy now?" She asked and I laughed
"Way to get your attention back, so what are going to have, I already ordered for a glass of cold mango juice as we wait for the Main course"
"Where's the menu by the way?"
"Here, and by the way bills on me today"
"I saw that coming , but bills on me next time pretty" she said and I smiled.
"Of course we shall see when time comes"
After a few minutes, the juice was brought and we asked for five more minutes to chose on the menu.
Ruby settled on sauteed mushroom soup, grilled chicken and fried rice while I decided to take fried chicken,mashed potatoes and salad.
To say the food was a delicacy was an understatement, the food was so amazing and sweet. I ordered for take she's hamburgers for my sister Eileen, I knew she wouldn't miss to eat, she so much loved burgers.
We walked out of the restaurant few minutes later, with a carrier bag containing Eileen's burger on one hand and a phone on the other hand, earphones in my ears,listening to Allan walker's 'Faded' blasting in my ears as I walked towards my car, Ruby was also following closely but glued on her phone too.
I was not even concentrating, one thing I heard was someone cussing, my phone fall down and I followed next, the bag I was carrying was lying next to me. I tried to look up but my elbow was hurting really bad. I looked up and I was met with a pair of beautiful brown chocolate eyes, they were dazzling brightly in the lights and I was lost in them
"Are you okay?" The guy asked and I just nodded in agreement,I was still drowning in the beauty of his eyes and I was too preoccupied to focus on what he was trying to tell me
"Come on let me help you up" he said and offered his hands which I took gladly, I wanted to feel the softness of his hands, I wanted to feel the touch of his hands on my skin, it was something I was craving for.
He helped me up and picked my phone from the floor, we were just close to my car and Ruby was nowhere to be seen, I tried to look around but I didn't see her.
"You are hurt, on your elbow, is it hurting?" He asked but I was floating around in his world, his voice was just something else, just enough to wake me up from my trance
"Ooh yeah ,not that much I'll be fine, can I have my phone back?" I asked trying to avoid his gaze
"Of course, I'm Bruce" he said and my head shoot up, was he the Bruce, Ruby was telling me about it was he Ruby's cousin, or maybe Bruce was a common name around so I brushed the idea off
"I'm Brianna" I said trying not to sound rude
"Ooh Bree, Brianna a beautiful name ikr the beholder, I like it" he said and I wished he said he liked me
"Ooh okay let me get going it's late" I said as I opened my car door
"Is that your car?" He asked
"Yeah it's mine"
"Ooh okay that cool, I was trying to calm my mechanic but my phone went off can I use yours please?" He asked and I nodded
"Of course here it is" I said as I handed him my phone, his Cologne was still wafting my nose
"Bruce!" I heard Ruby's voice and my head shoot up, she literally ran and hugged him so tight, so my thoughts were now confirmed
"Hey sweet cousin, what are you doing here?"
"I should be asking you the same, what are you doing with Brianna's phone?"
"You know her?"
"Of course she's my best friend the one I was telling you about"
"She's pretty just like on the pictures" Bruce said and I literally blushed
"Ooh don't don't about me as if I'm not here" I said trying to make my presence known
"Oh my God what happened to your arm"
"Fell down"
"Ooh it looks terrible, we must dress it, where is the first aid kit?" Ruby asked
"In the back seat I guess"
"Oh I'll help her with that, I was the one who made her that way"
"No not really it's fine Ruby will do it, plus I was the one on the wrong, I wasn't concentrating" I said trying to avoid his help
"No insist please" he said
"Okay fine, Ruby please get him the kit"
After a few minutes of dressing and washing the wound he was finally done
"Bruce why don't you drive along with us, I'm sure your mechanic will work on your car and bring it first thing tomorrow morning" Ruby said and he nodded
"Ooh okay thank you, I was actually heading to your home, my folks are there too, they told me we have dinner with their old friends" Bruce said to Ruby
"Ooh it's already late, why don't you pick your things and come join us, and please drive us home my hand is paining I can't drive" I said and he agreed. He went back to his car picked his stuff and joined is in the car.
He took the drivers seat while I took the passenger's seat beside him, Ruby insisted on taking the back seat and I knew her motive, she wanted us to talk and interact, and true to her words, her cousin was a walking prince charming
