Chapter 5: The redeemer

My eyes lit up in fury as I heard my mum mention my mate's name. "Same Bonita you despised! You and your impotent son should be happy that I gave you children you could call your own" My mum placed another resounding slap on Julia's face. Watching the scene and hearing my name attached to filth was what I couldn't take for long. This time, I let go of Stanley's hands without feeling an atom of guilt before leaving the palace. I got to my chambers and thought of what to do to save my kingdom from the reoccurring deaths. Our Oracle had died a few weeks ago and finding another one would mean going to another distant pack. A thought popped into my head and I dashed out at once. I gazed at the once lively tree with colorful leaves and fruits, now it looked as dry as a firewood. While heading to my destination within the pack, all I could see was a pile of dead bodies in a corner of the pack. They looked like they had just died. The heartbreaking scene was way too much. I arrived at the Gamma's house and was shocked to see an unexpected crowd there. They all paused in their wailings after sighting me. Swiftly, I was granted entrance into the house but I wish I only stayed outside. Inside was the dead body of the pack Gamma, his wife, and three daughters. Tears welled up in my eyes as I gazed at the gory sight. "What happened to them?" I angrily asked the question, hoping to get an answer or an explanation for the sight before me. "We heard a scream and ran to their house, only to see them dead." Their death was weird and strange, no injury or something that could have prompted their deaths. I knew something was wrong with the occurrence in the pack. Now that the gamma was gone, I had no choice but to embark on the journey of solutions for my pack. I took my best guard and started the journey with no destination in mind. My friend's pack was miles away from mine and the packs around me were the least friendly. I thought hard about the best route to take to Alpha Storm's Pack. "The shortest route would take us three days, do we go in that direction?" My head guard spoke up, ready to take my orders. I looked back at the Demonic Moon Gang and swore to go to the ends of the earth just to redeem them. "We have some visitors from the Demonic Moon Gang, do we let them in?" "Say no more, I already came in. It's been ages Alpha Storm" I gazed at my old-time friend and he was still the same, looking younger than me. His silver-colored hair and fair skin had always shone brightly. "Been a while champ! Welcome to the Bloody Hunters Pride!" Alpha Storm welcomed me with a hug and gave us a place to rest but rest was far from my mind. "Storm, my pack is dying, my oracle and gamma are dead. The Demonic Moon Gang is subject to predators, our firstborns are dying, and I recently found out that my three sons are not mine. I need your help, my friend" "That's a lot of chaos, Alpha Jon. How can I help you, my friend?" I was relieved to hear how positive he sounded. It was a sign that my journey was not in vain. "I need to consult an oracle, a powerful one that could tell me the exact problem with my pack and what I must do to save them" I asked with so much need on my face and prayed that our solution was going to be so close to us. "Our Oracle is strong and she hears directly from the Moon goddess. We'd go see her by midnight, for now, you should rest and walk around the pack. I'll come to you once I'm done with other matters" "Thank you so much Alpha Storm" I lay on the bed and slept soundly for the first time in a long time. I could see Stanley's teary face with his hands stretched out. He looked broken and alone as he called me severally, waiting for me to take him by the hand. I quickly opened my eyes and walked towards the balcony in the room. The Primal Shadows Pack was everything it claimed to be. A lively pack filled with busy people and children running around the playground. I only had one goal and that was to make my pack better than it was. "We should head out now so we can get there by midnight" Alpha Storm's voice pierced my thoughts, drawing me back to reality and reminding me of my mission in his pack. The journey through the forest was not so much of a hassle like walking through the forest in the Demonic Moon Gang. The aura and energy here were so positive that one could mistake it as a valley of positivity. "Alpha Jon, it took you so long to stand up for your pack" I heard my name and some accompanying comments the moment we got to the front of the cave. I had no idea who was talking but one thing was certain, this person had a solution to my problems. "What must I do?" I inquired immediately, hoping for a response. "May the Moon goddess render me blind if I ever tell you the solution to your problem" Filled with confusion, I diverted my gaze to Alpha Storm and hoped for an answer or better still, an explanation. "It's the oracle talking, she can only communicate with you from here for now. She'll surely help you" Alpha Storm assured me and patted me on the back. "Oracle, please help my friend. There's a lot of chaos in his pack. What should he do?" "He incurred the wrath of the goddess that's why there are so many deaths in his land. He can only be redeemed by the work of his loins" "What does she mean? I have no children so how am I supposed to redeem my pack?" "Be gone from here, cursed are you and your pack until you find the one after the goddess's heart" "I can't help you further than this" Alpha Storm's comments awoke my wolf.....
