Chapter 4: A kiss of regret

1050 Words
Alpha Jon's Pov Standing on the balcony of the last floor of the castle, I gazed intensely at my once beautiful pack, the Demonic Moon Gang. It looked more like a mockery now as the trees were all withered and the families shattered because of the loss of every firstborn son of the pack. I wish there was something I could do to salvage the situation but they won't even listen to me because my firstborn son was the only person who didn't die among others. I was somewhat grateful because his life was spared but the pain of seeing my subjects all bereaved, was something I didn't know how to react to. Living with my nightmare of a wife was another problem I brought upon myself, with my hands. It has been five miserable years of pain and chaos, not a single moment of peace. I recalled how I was ridiculed on my wedding day after rejecting my mate, I was ridiculed by the one whom I chose to be with. "He has finally opened his eyes to see how much of a mockery he'd have ended up with. Bonita was nothing more than a disgrace and for two years, Jon was wallowing in misery. It's so good to see that he has finally acted like an Alpha and rejected the baggage of a girl. Now I can marry and be your right Luna" Julia didn't take long to show her real self, she made this mocking statement, the moment Bonita ran out. The statement stirred up so much laughter and made me look weak on my wedding day. It was good to know that I could freely exercise my powers as an alpha and command authority wherever I went. It seemed like cheating because my son didn't die like the other children of the pack. Everyone was too bereaved to believe something better. They all thought that I made certain sacrifices to save my son and leave their sons to die. "Dad?" A familiar voice pierced my thoughts, causing me to perceive his scent before gesturing for him to come. "Dad I miss you. Why are you all alone?" For the first time since he came, I looked him in the eye and felt happiness within me. "I have pressing needs to attend to. I'm trying to come up with a solution" "Is it because of the man downstairs Dad? Mum said he was a joker who wanted to cause problems" I gazed at him and knew that something was happening at the moment. "Is the man still around?" I probed. "Yes Dad, he's causing chaos" Holding Stanley firmly to my chest, I leaped from the first flight of stairs and landed at the last one. "Alpha Jon, you're a good man, you don't deserve this" Instantly, I knew that the man had sensed my presence before uttering those words. I approached the door and saw Julia standing in a corner with her hands on her chest and a mean look on her face. My mum and dad were in a corner, holding my two younger sons as though they were protecting them. I knew something was odd from the way my parents were holding my boys. "What's going on here?" I asked exuding a strong masculine aura and authority. "Ever wondered why you're the only person who didn't lose his first son in the pack?" This man was hitting a nerve, he was trying to poke me before giving me what I had no idea of. He was poking my unanswered questions and fears. "It seems like you came to question me, you may leave if that's all you came to do" I blurted out and turned around with Stanley before Julia suddenly spoke up. "Leave at once you clown! You have nothing to say!" "Alpha Jon, I know this is one of your fears, one of the questions you have no answer to. I'm sorry to let you know that you have no children of your own. Your sons aren't yous, they're all mine and I'm from a distant pack, that's why the first one is still alive" I felt my heart shatter into a million pieces as I subconsciously left Stanley's hands. Stanley gazed at his hands, then gazed at me with so much in his eyes. I drew Stanley close and rubbed his hair before I faced the man outside. "Come in!" Julia seemed furious as she tried shoving the man away, her actions infuriated him and he threw her down to the floor. My boys all gawked at their mother and wondered why she acted mad, they were too young to understand a thing. "Sit down and tell me how it happened" I gestured to the man and awaited the story he was here to tell. "Son, don't you think he might be lying?" I shot a deadly stare at my mum, causing her to keep mute and face the ground. My Dad held the boys and nodded at me to carry on, it was great to know that he was still supporting me despite his hatred for Julia and how I had disobeyed him by marrying her. "I'm Diego and Julia is my fated mate. I'm from an omega family in the Primal Shadows Pack. Julia happened to attend one of our inter-pack mating events, and that was where I found her" "Our wolves called out to each other and we mated but she just wanted more. She wanted an Alpha and she got you, but she always ended up coming back to me because of how I made her feel. She got pregnant for me three times and placed them on you but now, I'm tired of staying in the dark, I want my boys" I stared at Diego and the w***e I married. All these while, I had been raising and parading another man's children as mine. It hurt beyond measure but I was also happy that she was leaving my life sooner than I expected. "Julia, I believe everything he said and I know it's the truth. Thank you for keeping us in the dark" My mum was the first to speak up as she approached Julia and landed a slap on her face. "Bonita would have done better"
