CHAPTER 1
*FINN'S POV*
I opened my eyes and the first thing I saw was the flashing blue dot on my phone. Another notification. I rolled my eyes in annoyance and sat up, pulling the covers away from my body. I unplugged my phone and watched the screen light up with the messages I missed.
Two were from my friend, Jax, telling me to send him my notes and another was from Evan, telling me to not be late for soccer. The last notification made me pause. It was from her.
I pulled the notification bar down and read the message. "Hey Finn! How are you?" She was way too chipper on a Monday morning. I sighed and threw my phone back on my nightstand, heading towards the bathroom.
Her name was Tinsley. Always friendly and cheerful even when she probably shouldn't be. I remember when I first met her. I had just finished an extra long conversation with my professor that made me want to pull out my hair when Jax introduced me to her. I was in no mood to talk to anyone, nor meet some new girl Jax was fooling around with. I didn't think much of her; who knew when Jax would get bored of her and find someone new?
But it turned out, I was wrong. She started hanging out with us, eating with us at lunch, and talking with all the other guys. Ignoring her suddenly became much harder. And that wasn't just the weirdest part. Jax seemed to stop playing around with half the female population after Tinsley started hanging out with us.
Every day at lunch, I tried to ignore her cheery presence at the table. It was harder than it seemed. All the guys seemed to be intrigued by the short, over-energetic girl.
Her texts didn't start blowing up my phone until a week ago. My usual seat at the lunch table was taken by some dude I didn't know and Jax somehow managed to make room for me next to Tinsley. When I had slid in next to her, she had turned to me grinning. I still remember what she said to me. "Hey! You're Finn, right?"
I shook my head, bringing myself out of my daze. Why was I thinking of Tinsley early on a Monday morning? God. What was wrong with me?
I stepped out of the shower and put my clothes on, getting ready for another long day at school.
