Belle
Belle Today is my 16th sun cycle. The 1st of May. Beltaine. Today I’ve gained my first new tattoo. The hollow golden Sun on my forehead has gained celtic knots on either side tracing my eyebrows. I sit cross legged in my mothers room. We live in a tree. A giant sibhe tree close to the Hill of Tara. The floors are covered in moss and walls decorated with wildflowers, all my mothers doing of course. Little bushes of blackberries are throughout our rooms. We are the Tuathá de Danann. We are called this as we are the people of Danu. My Grandmother. Danu is the goddess of all creation The mother Goddess. Danus' partner is ‘The Good God’ The Dadga. My Grandfather. Danus' adopted sister is Rhiannon, ‘the night queen’, My grandparents' children are Ériu, Brigid and Bodb Dearg. We are the first Sidhe family to come to Éire. My land gained its name because of a battle my mother won. My mother is Éiru. The Goddess and patron of Ireland. She is our protector until my 21st sun cycle. Brigid is my godmother. She is the goddess of spring, Imbolc as we call it. She is the Goddess all the people of Éire create wreaths for. Many people leave cloth outside on her eve so as she passes she grants them healing. It is well known the people would leave out lemon loaf for my godmother as she passes each home. Bodb Dearg is the red crow. He was once due to be the king of the tuathá de danann, had he been the first born. My Father is Dian Cecht, the God of healing. He is known across Éire for his healing abilities. His Mother is Bec the goddess of great wisdom. She owns the magic well, one sip would give you wisdom, of the past, present and future. My Grandad is Lén the God of craftsmen, he tends to reside under a lake in Killarney. My Father has 3 brothers and 1 sister. Abhean is my uncle and poet of Tuathá de Danann. My uncle Donn, is the God of the Dead. Ecne is my God father and is the God of Wisdom and Knowledge.Boann my auntie is the Goddess of the river Boyne. Badb Catha, Battle Crow is the Goddess of War, she is known to convince soldiers fighting for the other side of a battle to come and work on our side. It’s pretty cool to see as she's literally in the form of a crow. I have many cousins. The youngest are ; Nemain. She is the Goddess of battle frenzy. She is a tornado. Tornados win battles. Neit is a young god of war. He has yet to see his capabilities. My sister is Airmed, she is the Goddess of healing and herbalism. She is known by many for her medicinal plants. My brother is Aengus Óg the god of love and youth He is known for the messages he sends by the birds .I have two younger brothers Miach and Cian. Brigids & Ceanunnos, her consort the Horned God. Known for his love of animals and his fertility. Their children and my cousins are the trio brothers of crafts. Creidhne the eldest is the gold of Goldsmiths. The middle child Goibniu is the God of smithing weaponry. The youngest male is Luctaine, a carpenter god. Their youngest is a girl named Artio. She is my goddaughter. Artio is the goddess of transformation and wildlife. I sit here on the eve prior to my feast day. My mother plaits half my hair into a Goddess knot and combs through the remainder of my sunkissed curls. My mother slides my orange embroidered bodice over my head and laces it up. I step into my skirt, as one would step into an upside down tulip. She places my cape around my shoulders, so it shows my golden bracelet and necklace. She lays my shimmering gold veil on my head and then my crown of red wildflowers which makes my curls bounce. I and the other Gods gather to travel to Grianan of Aileach - Grianan fort in Donegal. My mother calls on the clouds to carry us to Grianan fort. Once we land we are met by the other Gods and Goddesses. Artio, dressed in her finest violets, is the first to run into my arms. Then Luctaine in his beiges ran and hugged my legs. Her dark hair and his bright dance in the moonlight as they move. Danu and The Dadga came and greeted us. I bowed in their presence. Ériu, Brigid ,Rhiannon, Dadga and I stood on top of Grianan fort, facing the counties of Érie. We pooled our energies into one and willed the Sun to rise. As the sun was rising there was a dark energy to the sky. The sky instead of being a bright pink, it was a strong rose red. That’s when we saw him. Aed. The God of the Underworld, Faoin Domhan. Standing tall on a storm cloud. The Dagda went to face him alone as we brought the morning to light. The Dagda threw bright clouds of light at Aed. Aed used his Pooka - shadow horses to attack the Dagda. The Dagda fell to the ground. Aed smirked and winked directly at me. Once the Sun had risen. Danu ran first to Dagda. She stood back and called her sister, daughters and her only son. I could tell by the look on their face The Good God would not come back to us this time. I burst out laughing which then turned into hysterical crying. I could feel my heat slip from me. Airmed, Aengus Óg and all my cousins stood frozen. Artio and Luctaine dropped the dandelions they were wishing on. It had happened. Aed had finally taken one of us.
