Getting To Safty

Zak's P.O.V After leaving my mate with my beta, Trever, I made my way to the tree line with a few pack warriors and my gamma Lucius. Once we made it to the front of the pack house, we threw smoke bombs through the windows and stormed into the pack house, knocking as many wolves out as my gamma and I could before the smoke cleared. Swiftly making my way to the kitchen where the five warriors we left previously three months ago had already taken out the wolves who were blocking our path to the basement. I made a promise to my mate, and I intend to keep it. As I ran down the stairs, I could smell fear and blood. I could hear Kara yelling and screaming, "Stop! Please! Please! Get Off! Help!" I darted to the cell she was being held in and kicked the door in. The scene before me shocked my wolf with pure fury and pure sorrow. My warriors moved like lightening and took out the three wolves who were beating and torturing Kara. I mind liked Ana: "We found Kara, but you need to be prepared, she is in terrible condition. I want you to rethink coming here, or if you want to wait until she is in the hospital being treated and cleaned up." I didn't get a response and thought maybe, just maybe she chose to stay and wait. But I knew it wasn't that lucky when we tried to pick her up and she screamed out in pain. I felt my mate before I saw her. When she reached the cell door, I tried to stop her from seeing Kara's state, but I was inches too late. When I felt the pain and sorrow radiating off my mate, I knew I needed to move fast. Ana pushed past me with a strength I didn't know she had. "Oh Kara, please Goddess no. You promised Kara, you promised me you would hold on. I'm here. We are here to save you." Ana cried out with tears flowing down her face. "Kara please, you have to stay with me. I fought so hard to get back to you," Ana screamed at Kara's almost lifeless body. " You have a niece or nephew on the way, please Kara," she pleaded. "Lucius, you and Trever take Kara and load her up in the med van. Dr. Bift is waiting for you," Zak ordered. Zak grabbed Ana by the arms and pulled her into a tight hug. He brushed her hair and calmly told her, "Everything will be okay, but we need to leave right now. If Kara has any chance of surviving, we have to get her back to our pack hospital." Zak slowly walked Ana back to the car where they met up with Trever, who stayed back to update them with information on the situation. Once updated, Zak helped Ana into the back seat, then climbed in behind her, while Trever climbed into the driver's seat. The car roared to life and Trever shifted it into driving, slowly pulling away. They all heard a loud ear-piercing howl letting them know it was time to speed out of the area. Their parents now know that both of their daughters have escaped. Zak held Ana close to him, rubbing circles on her side with one hand while holding her head to his chest with the other. Soon after they left, he felt her breathing shift to slow shallow breaths, indicating she had fallen asleep. Zak turned his attention to Trever, who was driving. He said, "Trever, we have to make sure patrols are doubled, and the pack hospital has everything it needs by the time we arrive." "Yes, alpha," Trever replied. "Oh and also make sure you have dr. Wringe to check the luna when we get there. It's been a stressful day for her today," Zak quickly said. "Yes, alpha," Trever replied. Trever handed me my laptop and I opened it and dove into some work while Trever drove and Ana slept. The long five-hour drive seemed to fly by because, before I knew it, Trever broke the silence: "Alpha, Luna, we are five minutes away from pack land. Lucius just linked and said Kara is in surgery now. She's not doing good." "Thank you Trever. When we get there, will you go to my office and grab the four bags and two boxes sitting behind my desk?" Ana asked in a small voice. "Yes Luna, would you like me to grab you dinner as well? You haven't eaten since breakfast luna, that's not good for you or the future alpha," Trever asked. Before she could respond, Zak interjected and swiftly said, "It doesn't matter if she does or doesn't just have the omegas bring dinner over for all of us." "Yes Zak," Trever said. Pulling up to the pack hospital, we hadn't fully stopped before Ana took off out of the car and burst through the front doors. Running up to the counter and asking for an update on her sister, "Please, is there any word on Kara? Is she okay, what's going on with her?" she asked. I rushed in behind her, motioning for Dr. Wringe and the nurse over and pulled Ana to a bed. "Please get checked out first. I'll go check on Kara. Ana, you and our pup have to be okay," I pleaded with Ana. She sighed and climbed onto the bed. I kissed her and said, "Remember Ana, our promise, I'm holding up my end. Now it's time you hold up your end. I love you Ana, I'm going to get your update." "I love you too, Zak, I'm just worried about Kara," she replied. I pondered for a few minutes, then slipped out of her room to look for a nurse as I reached the nurses' station. A surgical nurse came rushing out, saying they needed o negative blood for Kara. I quickly mind liked the pack: "Your luna's sister needs blood o negative. Your luna is counting on us." Within ten minutes, pack members started flowing in to donate blood. As I turned to return to Ana's room, I saw Dr. Wringe waiting for me by the door. "Dr. Wringe, how are they?" I asked. "She will be fine alpha, she is just shaken up and in shock over the sight of her sister. The baby is just fine, strong too. Just bring her by next week, and we can find out what the pup is," Dr. Wringe's replied. I finally felt a weight lift off me. Now we can focus on Kara and me and not be worried about Ana and us as much. I walked back into Ana's room and saw she was eating her dinner steak Mac n cheese and spinach. I sat at the foot of her bed and grabbed my food the omegas delivered. "Ana... about the update on Kara. With you being with the pup, I had to call in pack members to donate blood. She's lost so much that what the blood bank had wasn't enough," I said as I ate my food. "Nine..... Nine hours, that's how long it took for Kara's surgery. What if something is wrong? What if she doesn't make it? Wha.." Ana was stressed rambling. I grabbed her hand and pulled her in tight, shushing her "Ana, calm down, there is no what ifs. We have the best Dr's. in the wolf community. Please relax Ana, I will go get an update," I said, kissing her head as I stood up. As I turned to leave, Dr. Bift walked in with a smile on her face. "Dr. Bift, I hope you're bringing good news. How is Kara? How is or did the surgery go?" I asked before Ana could start worrying again.
