Chapter Three

2198 Words
Cemil's POV   I waved at my parents and siblings as the car left the driveway. I was leaving home and I was not sure when I would be coming back. I hoped Roman would stay safe with his mate.   I'd been wishing for a mate for a while now but I still had not found him yet. Dad was right; I was losing hope. I would care at times but then sometimes I didn’t care about whether I was mate-less or not. I had a feeling that they were there though they were taking their sweet time to meet me.   "Hello," I answer my phone after collecting it from my bag where I left it.   "Hey baby," Liam greeted and I rolled my eyes. I'm not a baby yet he keeps calling me that. "I called your mother and he told me you are on your way already."   "Yeah I am."   "I will come and pick you up at the boarder."   "No Liam. Charles will pick me up and drop me at your house. I assumed you will be at work by the time I will be there, so I didn't want to trouble you." I informed him. I guess mother forgot to tell him that.   "Oh it’s okay then. I can't wait to have you here."   "Um, Liam?" I asked and he hummed a response. "Can I work in your school for the time I'm there?" Liam had a kindergarten school where he was managing. It was his own and he looked after it himself since he had nothing else to do at home. The idea of working there came up to me last night. At least working would keep me company and occupied.   "Yes you can if you want to. Miss Charlotte just left three days ago for a better job in a hair dressing salon. So I actually need someone to help." He replied and from the sound of it, he was happy I requested working at his school.   "Perfect. I will definitely work there."   "Alright, I will organize something for you."   "Thank you Liam. I won't disappoint you."   "I will see you when you get here baby."   "Okay. See you then." I said and was about to hung up when he spoke again.   "Oh, the keys still remain in the same place as last time. So you can use those."   "Alright, bye."   "Bye baby."   I ended the call and looked outside through the window. I noticed we were far away from home now. I couldn't help but wonder what mama was doing at the moment. I missed him already and I knew the feeling was mutual.   I picked out my iPod and put my headphones on. It would take us sometime before reaching the boarder, so I decided to spend the rest of the journey listening to music. I also couldn't wait to see Charles after a long time without him.   I pressed play and AJ McLean's - London, came on. I leaned back in my sit and closed my eyes comfortably, enjoying both the ride and music.   ** "Cemil get up."   I groaned as the intruder kept poking me. I removed my headphones and placed them in my bag. I turned around to see who was poking me but found no one.   "Was I dreaming that?" I mused aloud.   "No you were not. Your brother was waking you up." I looked at the driver who was looking at me in amusement. I groaned in embarrassment knowing I might have said something when my brother was waking me.   "Charles," I whispered as I got out of the car. I saw him packing some bags in a car and he looked up at me. He smiled and opened his arms after dropping the bags in the car. I didn't waste a second as I ran and threw myself at him. He laughed as he caught me and swung me around. I wondered how he could still do that; I'm a big boy after all.   "You might be big but you are still my little brother and you weigh nothing to give me a tough time to not swing you."   "No!” I wailed dramatically. “Not my thoughts, Charles!" I said and he laughed again. I smiled at him; it was actually good to be with him.   "That is all. I'll be heading back now." The driver, Nathan, said. He had just dropped the remaining bags of mine in Charles's car.   "Thank you Nathan."   "Have a safe ride back, Nathan!" I shouted as he turned the car around to head back home.   "You as well, sirs." He shouted back and I waved at him.   Charles led me to his car and opened the door for me. I got in and when he too got in, he drove off. This boarder marked the werewolf world and the human world. It was for protection of both human and werewolves even though most humans were not aware of it. Seeing as not all humans were aware of the existence of werewolves or any supernatural beings, it was better that way as long as the human leader knew about it.   "I didn't know you had company." I said as I looked at a boy sitting in the backseat.   "Oh that's Shane. He's my friend's kid."   "Hi Shane." I greeted and he shyly waved at me, so I waved back.   "He is mute and not so good with people. I told him I was picking up my brother and luckily he gave you a response by waving. I actually didn't expect him to do that."   "I guess it means he likes me then. It is an omega thing anyway, all children like us.”   “I wouldn’t believe that. Remember Abigail? I would have believed that if I didn’t witness her with children. I think it a mutual thing. You like them and they will in turn like you.” Charles said and I laughed as I recalled Abigail.   I stole glances at Shane when he wasn't looking. He was a beautiful child and I bet his parents were proud to have him as theirs. He was busy with a phone and my guess was he was actually playing games. I turned away from him and focused on the road ahead.   "I will be teaching at The Blue Bird." I murmured and when Charles didn't say anything, I looked at him and was about to repeat the words when he said something.   "That's good."   "Is that all you will be saying?"   "Yeah."   I sighed and looked away from him. I knew Charles enough to read in between his words and the frown on his face said it all. Was me working a bad thing for him to give me that attitude? He could have at least pretended to be happy for me. At least I won't be cooped up home and simmer in my thoughts.   "Charles, I want to be teaching there or at least helping out. I can't just be home the whole day, all alone. I want to keep myself occupied and staying home won't be it. I love children and being around them, so I know I will be fine. So-" His laughter made me stop and I looked at him wondering what was funny.   "I was just kidding around CJ; I am absolutely fine with you working there."   "Oh yeah I forgot; our one and only kidding Charles." I sarcastically said and he just laughed making me smile nonetheless.   We arrived in the big city and I kept looking out the window at so many fascinating buildings and things. Charles parked the car at a fancy restaurant, where he announced we will have our lunch. He helped Shane out and carried him there. We found a table and ordered our food. I had small talk with Charles and sometimes he would talk to Shane who replied by signing. I looked up from my plate when Charles received a phone call.   "Hello....yes I've picked him up...we stopped for lunch...right now?....okay...I'll be right there." He pocketed his phone and continued eating in silent.   When we were done eating, he told me he had to be back at work. I nodded and we walked back to the car. He secured Shane in his seat and drove off. I hoped I'd spend more time with Charles today but I guess that was impossible.   We reached Liam's house and he insisted on carrying my things inside for me. He found the keys and opened the door then carried my bags inside. I waited by the car as he got my things inside, just to keep an eye on Shane.   "Okay that's it." Charles said as he came back from dropping the last bags. "I'm surprised you packed a lot. What's with all the stuff?"   "Roman."   "Oh right. So you didn't want to leave anything of his behind?" He asked.   "Yeah; he gave me the stuff and I couldn't just leave them. They would get lonely."   "Roman indeed, I see he fed you some of his childishness. Stuff don't get lonely silly." He patted my head and I pushed his hand off.   "You messed my hair." I pouted and he laughed as he got inside his car. I waved at Shane but didn't get one back.   "Don't forget to call mother!" Charles shouted.   "I won't." I said and watched the car until it disappeared. I walked to the house and locked the door after I was safely inside. I went up the stairs to my room, the one I got from the last time I visited Liam and his husband.   I left the bags on the floor and took a seat on the bed. I picked up my phone and dialed Liam's. When he answered, I told him I was home and he promised to be back early to greet me. I dialed Ma's phone but he didn't pick up. I pocketed my phone and picked up my bags. I deposited my clothes on my bed, so that I should start packing them in the closet.   By the time I was done putting everything in its place, it was 16:43. I wondered what I'd be doing since Liam was not yet home. I went downstairs and poured myself a cup of water. I looked out the window at the neighbor’s house, wondering if Mary still lived there.   After sometime, I went up to my room and put on some gloves that Roman made me. I got a jacket too and made my way out. The bookstore will be closed at six and I had to hurry up. I planned to pick up a book Roman and I loved to read. We had one and I gave it to Roman yesterday.   I walked for a bit until I found a taxi. It drove me to the bookstore and I paid then ran to the building. I only had thirty minutes to spare before closing time. I quickly texted Liam of my whereabouts then got inside and walked around the store, searching for the book. I smiled when I saw it and was about to pick it up when someone else did.   "Hey!" I protested as I held on to some part of the book. I looked at the guy who held the other part of it.   "I got here first. The book is mine." I told the guy and he scoffed.   "Oh please, I don't have time for this. I got the book first."   "I got here first and was about to pick it up when your long arms took it."   "It sucks to be you then. It's not my problem you have short arms." The guy said and I gasped at his rudeness.   "Now if you don't mind, I'm running late." He said and tugged the book off my hold. He brushed past me and I stood there looking at his retreating back in disbelief.   "Hey, are you okay?" I looked away from the rude guy and turned to a girl who just spoke to me.   "Mary!" I exclaimed.   "CJ," she said in disbelief and hugged me. "I didn't know you were here. Liam didn't say anything."   "I just got here today." I said.   "What are you doing here?"   "I came to get a book but unfortunately I met this rude guy and he got it. It was the only book remaining."   "Were you looking for 'The Silver Chair'?" She asked as she brought forth a cart with lots and lots of books. The exact book I was looking for.   "Yes! Oh thank you Mary." I smiled as I took one of the books. Just then, my phone vibrated in my pocket.   "You are lucky they just got here." She told me as I read the text on my phone.   I'm outside the bookstore. Hurry up!   "So you work here?" I asked and she nodded.   "It was really nice meeting you, Mary but I have to go now. Liam is outside waiting for me."   "Okay. I will see you at home when I get there." Mary said and I hugged her then left her to pay for the book.   I left the store and immediately spotted Liam's car. I walked to it and got in. He took off right after and I looked at the book in my arms, remembering the rude guy from before. I wondered who he was getting the book for since he didn't look like the kind of guy to read such a book.   "How was your day?" I asked Liam as I erased the rude guy’s thoughts in my head. He was just an unfortunate soul I ended up meeting today.         -------------------------------------------
