Jordan Rivers is not your typical girl. Strong, independent, and unapologetically boyish, she’s spent her life rejecting anything that even remotely resembles romance. A tomboy who thrives in the outdoors and prefers the company of her guy friends, Jordan has long convinced herself that love and relationships are for others—something she could never be bothered with. Yet, hidden beneath her tough exterior, there’s a quiet longing for the kind of love she’s never known. She just doesn’t know how to find it.Enter Zane Steele, the powerful and enigmatic alpha of a werewolf pack who has little patience for weaklings. When fate brings them together, Zane is immediately captivated by Jordan’s strength, but she’s not interested in falling for a man—or for a werewolf, for that matter. Zane’s world is one of power, instincts, and loyalty, and he quickly realizes that Jordan is no ordinary human. Her unyielding independence and resistance to his charms only serve to draw him in further. But as their paths intertwine, Jordan’s carefully guarded emotions begin to crack, revealing a vulnerability she never allowed herself to show. With Zane pushing her out of her comfort zone and forces beyond their control threatening them both, Jordan must decide if she can accept the one thing she’s spent her life avoiding: love.

chapter 1
--- Chapter 1: A Storm Brews Jordan Rivers had never been one to back down from a challenge. Whether it was a fight, a race, or simply proving that she could outdo anyone who doubted her, she had always been ready. Today, the challenge was the thick woods surrounding the small town she had grown up in. The trees were dense, the underbrush a mess of tangled roots and leaves, but to her, it was nothing more than an obstacle course. Her boots stomped through the damp ground, the rhythmic sound of her steps drowned out by the distant thunder. Dark clouds loomed overhead, signaling an incoming storm, but Jordan didn’t care. She wasn’t the type to run from a little rain. In fact, the heavier the downpour, the better she liked it. It made everything feel more alive, more intense. She swung her backpack higher on her shoulder, adjusting it as she moved, her movements fluid and confident. Jordan had always been a tomboy—more at home in the woods than at a shopping mall, more likely to be found playing football with the guys than gossiping with the girls. She was tough, never afraid to get dirty, and she liked it that way. Romance? That was for other people—those who had time for emotions and weakness. Jordan didn’t need anyone but herself. But even she couldn’t deny the feeling that something was different today. The wind howled through the trees, the leaves shaking in the intense gusts. Her breath quickened, but not from the exertion of her hike. No, there was something else—something almost electric in the air. As the storm began to break, the first raindrops fell, large and heavy, soaking through her worn hoodie. It wasn’t the rain that caught her attention though. It was the sound. A rustling from deeper within the woods. The unmistakable sound of something—or someone—moving quickly through the undergrowth. Jordan froze. Instinct took over. She crouched low, every muscle tense, her senses sharpened. The rustling grew louder, closer, until it was right behind her. She whipped around, her hand instinctively reaching for the hunting knife she kept at her belt. Out of the shadows, a figure emerged. It was a man—no, not just any man. His presence was commanding, even in the dim light of the forest. Tall, broad-shouldered, with a dangerous aura surrounding him. His eyes gleamed a bright amber, almost glowing in the fading light, and his jaw was set in a grim line. The sight of him should have made her recoil, but instead, it did something else. It made her pulse quicken, an unfamiliar heat rising in her chest. “Who the hell are you?” she demanded, her voice steady despite the adrenaline coursing through her veins. The man took a step closer, his movements graceful and calculated, like a predator sizing up its prey. “Does it matter?” His voice was deep, rich with authority. Jordan’s grip tightened on the knife. “It matters if you’re trespassing.” He smirked, and in that moment, Jordan felt an odd mix of annoyance and intrigue. “I’m not trespassing, little one. I’m just passing through.” There was something in his voice—something that made her realize he wasn’t just any stranger. The confidence, the power in his words. There was something more... primal. Something she couldn’t quite place. The storm raged overhead, the rain coming down in torrents now. Thunder rumbled in the distance as the man took another step forward. Jordan’s muscles tensed, but she didn’t retreat. She was ready for a fight, but something told her this wasn’t a fight she could win. Then, without warning, the man lunged. His speed was unreal—before she could even react, he had her pinned to the ground, his body pressed against hers, his breath warm against her ear. “Careful, Jordan,” he whispered. “You don’t want to get yourself killed.” Her heart slammed in her chest, the strange, confusing emotions swirling within her. Who was this guy? And why did she feel a pull toward him, despite the danger? Before she could respond, he was gone, disappearing into the woods as quickly as he had come. Jordan sat up, breathless and confused. The storm continued to rage around her, but the encounter left an eerie silence in its wake. She didn’t know who the hell that man was, but one thing was clear—her world was about to change. ---
