Destiny's POV
I head with Heavyn and our parents to help get our father the rest he needs and the treatment. We put him in an empty bedroom that is next to the ones we have.
"Dad, how are you feeling? Any better?" I asked. He grunted.
"Loves, I will be okay. Alright, go ahead and get some rest.
You both need it," he said. Heavyn and I just take a deep breath. We hug our parents gently and head to the rooms we were given beside them.
"Sis, can we talk?" I asked. Heavyn nods.
"Of course, what's going on?" she asked.
I sit her down on the bed in my room. "Um... well, I believe that Prince Rex had heard what we were talking about before we had left. He knows that I am starting to have feelings for him and he made sure to tell me that he knew," I said, worried.
"Oh dear. What do you want to do? Did something happen?" she asked.
"Nothing major. I just think that I should stay away from him so their family can get back together to where it should be. If you know what I mean? We shouldn't be the cause of their downfall," I said.
"Exactly. Same feeling here. I think it's best if we stay clear of the princes because they are going to destroy their families because of their so-called wanting to help us as they have been," she said. "Of course. How do you think we should help them repay their kindness?" I asked.
"We can ask the Head Maid to see about becoming maids here officially to repay what we owe to them," she said. I nod in agreement.
"Let's go see if we can find her," I said, getting up. Just then, the door opened wide, and in stepped the princes.
"Where do you both think you're going to? Didn't we say that you both don't need to repay us? And w meant that," Prince Rex said, heading towards me.
I see Prince Devin looking at Heavyn. Heavyn looks nervous, rubbing her arm.
"Why won't you both stop trying to repay us back when we said that you don't have to? It's not necessary for you to repay us, but our parents have something they would like to say to you both if you're okay with that?" Prince Rex said. We nodded. We follow them downstairs to the living room. Their dad and mother stand up and look at us with a sad look in their eyes.
"Please sit down, Destiny and Heavyn. We would like to talk to you both," the king said.
"Of course, Your Majesties," we said. We sit down together.
"First off, we want to apologize to the both of you for what we had said and thought of you both. We didn't want to see our sons get hurt, but in the end, they prevented us from inviting potential murderers into our bloodline and found others they wanted to be with. Other young ladies that fit the role of princesses more than those they had been arranged to wed, in every way imaginable," the queen said. I look at Heavyn with a shocked expression.
"We forgive you as we never really held any ill feelings towards you both. We understand the concern and safety from where you had been coming from. But, we have a question for you, on what you just said, if we may ask?" I ask.
"Of course, go ahead. What is it, my dear?" the queen said.
"What did you mean by what you said that they found other ladies that fit the role of princesses? We don't understand," I asked.
"It means that they want to ask for your hands in marriage and have you become the future rulers of this land," the queen responded. I see Heavyn get up quickly and curtsy and say, "Um, sorry, Your Majesty, I don't think that is appropriate for us to say yes to the proposal." I get up as she exits the room.
"Before I head to check on my sister, I feel that we can't accept the proposal because of who we are, what we've been through and they may just be doing this out of duty and gratitude or in their way that they still feel obligated to help us. So, as she said, we may not be able to accept this proposal, excuse me," I curtsy and rush out behind Heavyn.
Before I can get to my room though, I heard my name and quick footsteps behind me.
"Destiny, wait a moment! Stop right there!" I hear Prince Rex call out. I sighed and stood still.
"Turn around to face me," he said. I take a deep breath and turn to face him.
"Yes, Your Highness? How may I help you? Did you need something?" I asked.
"Yes, I did. I want you to give me the real answer to my proposal that I will ask you right now. Understand?" he said.
He gets down on one knee, pulls out a shiny diamond ring, and asks, "Destiny, will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?" I sighed.
"Please, don't make this harder than it needs to be because it will not result in me saying yes to you no matter what. Okay?" I said. He clenched his jaw.
"Why are you denying your feelings for me? Is it because I heard you both talking before? Oh and by the way, you're both still our dates to the Royal Ball tonight, so start preparing for that. We'll be picking you both at 7 pm to leave together. The medical team will be with your mother and father alright?" he said, getting up. He moves in closer, kisses me on the lips softly, and walks off.
I press my fingers against my lips where his lips were. Did he just kiss me? And did I just let him? What is he trying to do?
