- Excited to be ours? -

Devin's POV I see Heavyn's face and smile. She didn't expect us to announce this out loud as we did, huh? Well, we did. I see Rex head over to Destiny and say something to her, and they head outside to the balcony. Heavyn tries to follow them but I grab ahold of her hand and pull her back gently. She glances at me and asks, "What do you want? Let go of my hand." I shake my head No. "Do you want to make a scene here? In public? In front of all these people?" I asked. She sighed.  "What do you want from me? Why did you do this? Why did you both pull this stunt?" she asked. "We want to be with you both and we want to show you what a good life should be like; not like the ones you have had with those people in your past," I said. She sighed. "Why does it have to be us? How do we even start being royalty when there are other royal ladies who fit the role rather well?" she asked. I sighed. "Because if we wanted them, we would have chosen them and you saw what could happen with them," I said.  "Follow me, our parents want to speak with us," I said. He stretches out his hand and wants me to take it. I take it only because of us being in public and not wanting to embarrass him. The other princesses are staring, more like glaring, at Heavyn and whispering to each other. I heard one of them say, 'They chose them? Heard that they are abused women and they feel pity for them and they are obligated to be with them.' I glared and clenched my teeth. My grip tightened on her hand and she felt it as she looked at me in shock.  'Sorry,' I mouthed and loosened my grip on her hand. She sighed. We stand in front of my parents and greet them. "My son, what a huge surprise announcement! You took us all by surprise! Why didn't you tell us that you had both been planning this?" my dad said. I chuckled. "Because, dad, you know that the two of you, cannot keep a secret. So, we kept it to ourselves until tonight," I said. We all laugh. The Queen, my mom, asked, "Can I speak to my future queen real quick?" I see Heavyn gasped.  My mother smiled and held her hand out for Heavyn to grab onto. Heavyn hesitated for a moment but she took her hand and they walked away from us to another part of the hall. I wonder what they are talking about. I see my dad trying to get my attention. I cleared my throat and looked at him. "Yes, dad? Sorry for that, I was not in the zone. As you can tell," I said.  He shook his head. "No worries. So, how are we feeling? What are your plans with Heavyn? And what is Rex's plans with Destiny? I know they are good, right? And no feeling of pity or obligation with this?" he asked. I asked, "Why does everyone think this? I also heard other female guests whisper this to one another as we were coming over to you two." "Really? Because that is what the newspaper had portrayed and I know we didn't raise the both of you this way," he said.  "The news? We will officially announce our engagement on the news Monday bright and early, to clear this misconception they all seem to have," I said. My dad nodded. "That's a great idea to clear this up once and for all. We know that you both have strong feelings for the both of these beautiful women, even through all their past troubles. You being there has no obligation behind it and they will understand this once and for all," he said.  Heavyn and my mom are being hassled by other princesses. I see this in the corner of my eye and this is the last and final straw. I stormed over to them and they see us coming towards them. "What is happening over here? Why are you useless women harassing my mother and fiancé? What did they do to you?" I asked, angrily. "Why are you marrying these nobodies? They are just people you are pitying and feel obligated to marry, right?" a princess yelled. "Exactly. You could have had any one of us but you decided to choose them," another one said in agreement.  I laughed. "You think I would want to marry you now even based on your attitude? This is why we didn't pick other sets of royals to fill these roles and also love," I said. They gasped. "You don't mean this? You actually love them? These non - royals? Wait until the news hears this joke," the instigator said, laughing. Her name was Princess Sophia. I smirked. "Sophia, you better watch your tone of voice with me. Because I don't take lightly with threats of any form. Do you understand me?" I said. She backed up a bit as I said this.  Finally, I see Rex and Destiny heading over to us after heading to the balcony about an hour ago. They see the commotion and rush over to us. "What the heck is going on over here? Is there a problem here?" Rex asked. "Yes, these so-called princesses think that we are marrying these two beautiful ladies due to pity and obligation, and I find that totally absurd. Don't you think so?" I said. Something Rex did shocked everyone standing there. He lifted up Destiny's hand and showed everyone her engagement ring.  "This ring right here means the world to my family and both of these ladies are going to be the only ones to wear them until the end of time. Understood? We will never be obliged to wed for pity and I know we have made this clear, plus you all here are not those we have to have justification for. So, if you can please do us a favor, mind your own business and head your own way. Got it?!" he shouted. They all gasped, yet nodded in agreement. "Now, scram before I lose my temper fully with you all!" he yelled. They scurried away like the scared people they were and we all laughed.  Should be the end of this for the night, right? If only that had been the case.....
