Doris POV
The sound of my phone alarm woke me up and the time was 6am. I remember setting the alarm for 5:30 because of the great event I need to do today.
I dashed into the bathroom and took a bath that lasted for 5 minutes. Coming out of the bathroom with a towel around my body, it came to my awareness that I didn't have any other clothes apart from the one I removed.
On perceiving the smell on the clothes, I almost fainted because of the odor.
"I need to wash and drain these clothes or I would be smelling like a Tasmanian devil among people" I mused while I tightened my towel around my body and went outside of the room.
"Good morning Miss Doris" Johnson's loud voice resounded in my ears as I stepped out.
"Morning. Please where is the washing machine?" I asked.
Johnson directed me there and I quickly washed and drained my clothes then walked back into my room.
On my way my towel loosened and I was only in my underwear. I quickly tightened back my towel and looked around to see if anyone saw me.
" Nice color of pants Doris!" Gabriel said as he walked down from the stairs dressed as if he was going for a meeting.
Feeling ashamed, I shot him a disgusted look, muttered "Good morning," and hastily fled into the room.
I quickly got dressed because a black Lexus jeep was waiting for me outside.
"Good morning, Alex!" I greeted as I entered the jeep.
Alex has been my bestie since college days. She always helps whenever I call for her help. She is doing quite well in her career because she has both parents and they were both successful and responsible.
" Hey girl! What were you doing in that Mafia boss house?" Alex replied looking surprised.
"Mafia boss?" I gasped. " I had no idea".
"I've always told you to be careful" Alex reprimanded and gave me her usual look.
"I'll tell you about everything later. Let's just hurry to the bank", I replied.
After having a tough time yesterday, I decided to call my bestie, Alex, to help me make some arrangements in the bank.
"You're borrowing a loan of $50,000?" Alex surprisingly asked.
"Yes. I need to pay my mum's surgery bill and that's what they requested for".
"$50,000 is a lot of money to borrow from the bank" Alex said while she picked up her phone.
Alex received and made some calls, after that she requested for my bank details.
Alex dropped her phone and said,"I've just credited you with $30,000. I would have given you everything but I'm currently experiencing some downfall in my business".
I was so excited when I received the message notification from my bank, "Thank you so much Alex. I'm really happy".
"What are friends for? So now you have to borrow $20,000 only" Alex smiled and we hugged each other.
Few minutes later , the driver informed us that we've arrived at the bank.
"Okay, let's go in fast so you can go see your mother in the hospital" Alex said.
We entered into the large commercial bank and immediately Alex was recognized. They directed us to an office where we signed the necessary files and documents.
"Hello Mom." Alex said as she answered her incoming call.
As the conversation ended Alex stood up, " I have to leave now, it's urgent. Guess we'll catch up later", she said as she used the exit door.
"Okay, Be safe," I said, wondering why she left suddenly.
After the bank credited my account, I called a cab, "Pacific International Hospital". I notified the driver as I hopped into the cab.

The driver pulled up at the front of the hospital and I swiftly ran inside.
I was so excited that my Mom would be hale and healthy again, after so many years.
"Hello! I've got the money for the surgery," I said to the doctor while sitting across his desk.
He was amazed. "How's that possible? Did you rob a bank?"I heard him whisper.
"Excuse me!" I said, waiting for his next words.
"Pay the fee at the payment desk. We'll start the surgery as soon as you do?" The doctor informed me while picking up his telephone.
"Okay I'll do that. Please, can I see my mother?"
"Yes, you can," the doctor said and gave me directions.
I followed the doctor's directions and saw my mother sleeping on the hospital bed.
On trying to hold back my tears they fell, "Don't worry mum you will be fine. I promise!".
My phone began to ring and it was a private number. I didn't want to answer it, but when my phone kept on ringing I had no option.
"Why are you not at work? You have just 30 minutes to meet me in my office or you are fired,"the person said and hung up the phone.
That must be Mr. Ronald. I need to get to the office as fast as I can. I can't afford to lose my job.
I hurried to the payment desk and promptly settled the surgery fee then navigated to the office.
** In My Boss office**
"Why weren't you at work at the due time?" Mr. Ronald yelled in anger.
"It was because of an unforeseen circumstance but I sent an email to the company"I said with fear of losing my job.
"We'll come back to this. We have an important meeting to attend to now" Mr. Ronald said calmly." A meeting with the most successful businessman in Alaska, Mr. Gabriel".
"Okay sir. I'm ready" I said and took a deep breath.
Upon arriving at the conference room, I encountered unfamiliar faces, including members of the media.
"This man must be quite important" I thought to myself, surprised.
A few minutes later, a man accompanied by three bodyguards, one leading and the other two following behind, all impeccably dressed.
He wore sunglasses and a nose mask, concealing his face from my view. As the meeting was about to begin, he took off the nose mask and sunglasses, revealing his face, which left me shocked.
