Out of all the crazy things Loki had done, moving absent-mindedly when, Loki, his wolf, had instructed him to, was the craziest. He hadn’t thought about what he was going through, he had no plan or abilities, he just ran. And funny enough, it was the best decision of his life. He sprang forward with incredible speed and in just a little above 4 seconds, he had reached the woman and shoved her aside, watching as she flew and landed with a thud on the other side of the road. He didn’t have enough time to get out of the way. He stared at the incoming car as its headlights flashed repeatedly at him. Completely controlled by his instincts, Loki shot his hand forward and grasped onto the bonnet of the car, it reeled him back for about 5 meters, but Loki was still on his feet, and to the awe of the woman, the driver and a few pedestrians who had been fortunate enough to witness the scene, Loki brought the screeching car to a stop with his bare hands.
He was breathing heavily and his arms were still on the car. The woman had gotten to her feet and she was gaping at him in disbelief, so was the driver of the car who revealed himself to be himself of not more than thirty years, with a full beard plastered on his chin and q few strands of hair dangling hopelessly from his almost bald head.
“You…you just stopped a speeding car.” The driver had gotten out of the car and was staggering towards him. “With…with your bare hands! That’s not humanly possible.” The man stammered.
Loki backed away from the car, and suddenly took his hands off the bonnet as though he had touched a fire. The realization of what had just happened hit him fully. The first thing he did was to check if his hands had transformed, but they were normal. Everything was normal!
“I’ll leave now,” Loki said, and disappeared at a brisk walk.
He held his breath as he finally neared the restaurant where the rest of the pack were hanging out. Oh what a story he had to tell! He had moved so fast! Covered about 50 meters in three seconds! Who would believe this? He couldn't even!
“Loki! Can you believe this?”
“Yes.” His wolf’s reply was calm. “I told you it was coming.”
As he was about to push open the doors of the restaurant, an icy hand grabbed his. The hand was cold and unfeeling, the grip was papery but firm. Loki turned slowly and a faint glimmer of recognition flashed through his eyes.
“You saved me.” The baffled expression was still in the woman’s eyes even as she stared at Loki now.
She was a burnet with beautiful, long hair that fell almost to her waist, she had brilliant blue eyes, a perfectly-shaped upturned nose and full red lips. The rest of her wasn’t visible as she was clothed in a gown and had a brown coat on.
“Yeah, you’re welcome,” Loki said briefly, and tried to walk into the restaurant, but she was surprisingly strong.
“You didn’t only save me, you stopped a speeding vehicle.”
“I did what I had to, I’m that strong.” He replied, desperate to get away from the beautiful lady.
“You moved like lightning, you appeared from no where and shoved me out of the way.” She was still saying, it was as if she was replaying the scene in her head and saying it out loud. “How?” she c****d her head and stared up at him with addled eyes.
“I did very well at sports in school, now, bye.”
“A drink, how about a drink? I owe you something for saving my life. A drink is nothing but it would mean a lot to me if you accepted my offer.”
“I don’t remember the last time a woman asked you out on a date. You have a sad life.” Loki, his wolf, remarked.
“Shut up Loki!” Loki regarded the woman, the genuine and hopeful look on her face made him give into her request. “Alright.”
“Tomorrow, at the Coffee Palace downtown. I’ll be waiting.” She said and finally released her grip on his arm.
Loki was more than elated, he was the happiest man in the world! He was grinning from ear to ear by the time he got to table 12,
“You’d never believe what just happened!” he started as he stared into their eager faces.
He could hardly contain himself as he told them the good news.
"Guys, you won't believe what just happened," he exclaimed, his green eyes sparkling with excitement.
"What is it, Loki?" asked his friends, looking up from his ale.
"I finally asked out the girl of my dreams, and she said yes!" Loki exclaimed, his smile growing wider.
"Congratulations, brother!" His friends said, raising his mug in a toast.
"Who's the lucky lady?" asked by his friends.
"She's beautiful, kind, and incredibly smart," Loki gushed, unable to hide his enthusiasm.
His friends smiled and one of them said; "I've seen the way you look at her, Loki. I'm so happy for you."
Loki laughed, feeling relieved that his friends were supportive of his new relationship. "I know I can be a bit of a trickster, but she sees past all that. She's really special."
One of them on table twelve then asked a very jovial person, who raised his bushy eyebrows. "So, when's the big date?"
"Tomorrow night," Loki replied, feeling a bit nervous for the first time.
"Don't worry, Loki. Just be yourself," his friends said, clapping him on the back.
"And make sure you bring her some flowers or something," they added.
Loki nodded, feeling grateful for his friends' advice. "Thanks, guys. I'm really excited for tomorrow."
As they continued to chat and drink, Loki couldn't help but think about how lucky he was to have such great friends. With their support and her by his side, he knew he could conquer anything that came his way.
