Chapter 6

OLIVIA'S POINT OF VIEW Where am I ? The last thing I remember was going to sleep in my room last night and next thing I know, I wake up here in the middle of the forest. I know the Willowswoods Forest like the back of my hand so I'm pretty sure that's not where I am. This place is so unfamiliar and strange. How did I get here? It's so dark, I can't see anything. At that thought, a large moon appeared in the sky illuminating everywhere. It actually made the forest look less frightening and even... beautiful. Almost immediately, I hear snarling and growling. Next I saw them. The first thing I saw was a bunch of glowing eyes before their bodies followed. Wolves! Large wolves. I could see them clearly underneath the moonlight. They were all snarling at me and stalking towards me. I didn't have time to study them as I took to my heels. I had always been a fast runner, pretty light on my feet but it didn't seem like I was capable of outrunning these wolves. They were so fast and the trees didn't even seem to be a barrier to them. I wanted to cry for help but for some reason, I couldn't make words come out of my mouth. I was so scared. I didn't think I was gonna die from a wolf attack. I didn't know when tears started to form from my eyes. The tears blurred my vision and I tripped. The wolves were already too close now and I knew trying to run would be futile. I cowered away in fear and prayed for mercy. Suddenly, a guy appeared in front of me. He had his back turned to me so I couldn't make out his face but he seemed so familiar. He was facing the wolves who had basically gotten to me now. I dunno why but I feared for this guy's safety. Suddenly, he also turned into a giant wolf in front of me and to say I was frightened was an understatement. This wolf was larger than the previous ones and they all seemed to cower away from him. He growled loudly at them and they all dispersed. I was still stunned and in shock. The wolf slowly turned to me and I got a view of it's piercing violet blue eyes that glowed. I couldn't help but feel like they were familiar. They were comforting even. The wolf walked towards me slowly. A part of my brain knew that I should be scared and try to run but I knew it would catch me even if I did. The wolf got to me and brought it's head to my lap and dropped it. I didn't know what came over me but I began to pet it's fur. I knew that this wolf wasn't gonna hurt me. “Thank you for saving me", I said to it. I didn't expect any reply but I got one. “Anything for you", the wolf which had now changed back into a man said. I caught sight of the familiar face. Angelo?? And then I woke up. My body was drenched in sweat and the AC was on. It was only a dream, I kept trying to tell myself, a very weird dream. I grabbed my phone to check the time. It was 5am. I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep again. I considered going on an early morning hike in the woods but after my dream, I got rid of that idea. The dream felt so real but what did it even mean? Something like this has never happened to me before. All this weird stuff happened when Angelo got here. As his name crossed my mind, his image from my dream flashed in my head. What was he doing in my dream? I had only known this guy for a little over a week and I couldn't get him out of my head. He made me feel all weird. Gosh I wish he hadn't moved here. Even as I thought that I knew that I didn't really mean it. For some reason, the thought of never meeting him hurt me more than I can describe. I can't seem to imagine my life without him in it. I threw off my blankets and got off the bed. I needed some fresh air. I opened my balcony doors and walked outside. I stared at the outdoors. Everywhere was calm and beautiful. The moon was still up and it gave everywhere this beautiful ethereal glow. Looking up at the moon made me remember my dream. I shook my head to clear out the thoughts. I sat on the seat and took out my novel to read. When I raised up my head next, the sun had already start to come up. My phone alarm rang letting me know that the time was 6:30 which was the time I usually woke up. Today was a Saturday and I didn't have school but I still woke up early so I could get a workout done before the sun fully comes up. I walked inside my room and changed into a sport bra and some leggings. I tied my hair into a ponytail, grabbed my running shoes and headed out of the house. My house was on the edge of the forest and I spent a lot of time there which is how I know it so well. I had a path that I usually jogged every Saturday. I wasn't gonna let a weird dream stop me from living my life. I began the jog and in no time, my worries dissipated. The familiar trees, the familiar humming of the birds and all the animal sounds helped to comfort me and put me at ease. And then I began to wonder what made me worry in the first place. Most people usually jog with headphones in their ears so they could listen to music but I liked to jog to the sound of nature. I had been jogging for about an hour when I caught sight of something that made me stop in my tracks. At a distance were a pair of eyes, the kind that Angelo has. Almost as quickly as I saw it, it disappeared and I began to wonder if I had only imagined it. Seeing that made me realize that I had jogged enough for one morning. I made my way back home. Even before I got to the door, I could already smell the waffles and I knew that grandma was awake. My stomach growled, letting me know that it was empty. “Hey grandma", I greeted with a kiss on the cheek as I walked in the house. “Good morning". “Morning Liv", my grandma responded, “go freshen up and breakfast will be ready soon". “Thanks grandma. You're the best". I made my way up the stairs into my room and into the showers. Twenty minutes later, I came out and got dressed in a sundress with sandals. I wore my hair down and had my face completely bare of makeup save for lipgloss. I walked downstairs to find my grandparents sitting at the dining table eating breakfast. I greeted my grandpa good morning and sat down to join them. “Your dad called", my grandpa said causing me to drop my fork abruptly. I didn't have the best of relationships with my parents. They abandoned me here with my grandparents when I was a baby and they only ever come to visit once in a blue moon. My parents live in California. They run this big company and they're always busy. I don't even know much about their company because they're so secretive about everything. “What did he want?" I asked warily picking up my fork. My grandpa shrugged, “he wants to talk to you. He says he tried calling you but you didn't answer". I remembered that I put my phone on silent when I went jogging so I wouldn't be distracted. “He wants you to call him". I took a bite from my food. “Okay", I replied simply. “Liv you have to call him. He's your father", my grandma said. They know that I don't exactly like my parents. “I know grandma. I'll call him". She smiled at me. When we were done with breakfast, I cleared all the plates and did the dishes. Grandpa gave me the keys to the shop so I could go and unlock it. On Saturdays, me, Lila and Andrew usually work there. The coffee shop my grandparents owned wasn't too far away so I usually walk there. I love taking strolls and greeting the neighbors. When I got to the shop, I opened it and walked in. I began to start cleaning when the bell rang. By their footsteps, I already knew who it was. “Hey guys", I greeted without looking up. “Hey Liv" they greeted together. It's eery sometimes how they seem to be sharing a brain. “You guys grab a broom and a mop and get working", I said. Andrew went to go get the broom while Lila went to get the mop. We worked really fast together and in a short while, we had already finished cleaning. We set up all the pastries for display and officially opened up the shop. The rest of the staff arrived shortly after and soon business was booming. Later that day, when the store was basically almost empty, I decided that I had put it off long enough and I had to call my dad. I took out my phone and my finger hovered a little above his name in my contact list. I felt a hand on my shoulder and looked up to find Lila looking at me a bit worried. “Hey are you okay?" She asked. I nodded, “I'm fine Lila. I just have to call my dad". Lila sighed and gave me a sympathetic look. I always felt like Lila and Andrew knew something about my dad because they always acted strange whenever I brought him up. I dialed his number and he picked up on the last ring, just when I was about to give up hope on him answering. “Hey princess", he said. “Hey dad", I replied. “How are you?" “I'm okay. How are you and how's Mom?" “Your mother and I are both well". There was a little bit of awkward silence after that. That was the problem with phone calls with either of my parents, we never had much to say to each other. “So how are things with Damien?" my dad asked. I scoffed. I knew my dad didn't exactly like him but he made it a point to ask after him a lot. “He should be fine", I replied. “Should? Trouble in paradise?" “Yeah you could say that". “Don't worry baby. I'm sure you'll find someone better". “Yeah". After that, we made more small talk, he gave the phone to my mom and I talked to her and I learned they were planning on visiting me soon. Yay! When I was done with the phone call, I walked back to meet my friends. Just then the bell at the door dinged signalling a customer. A smile appeared on my face at who it was. “Hey Antonio", I greeted as he walked up to us. “Hey guys. What's up?" he asked. “What are you doing here alone?" Andrew asked him. “I'm meeting up with Emily here for a study session", he answered. “So a date?" I said with a raised brow. “Yeah pretty much". Antonio and Emily had been seeing each other for a while now. It's the longest Emily has ever been exclusive to anyone. Lila went to get his order while I stayed. Seeing Antonio made me realize that I hadn't seen Angelo today other than in my dreams. Speaking of that dream, when I told Lila and Andrew about it they acted really weird. Then Lila tried to blow it off by teasing me about being in love with Angelo. I knew I was starting to have feelings for him but love ? I didn't think so. I decided to text him. I brought out my phone. “Hey Angelo", I texted. He replied me almost immediately.
