Chapter 5

ANGELO'S POINT OF VIEW The bell rang. It was the end of the school day and all five of us were walking on the hallway. Olivia, Lila and Andrew were gonna give us a tour of town. I was actually excited. I wasn't usually the kinda guy to be excited about being with a group of friends. Hell, I only had two friends. But I'd do anything to be able to spend time with Olivia. My phone rang and I sighed already knowing who it was. Aria had been trying to call me ever since we arrived in the US. I haven't had the interest to answer her calls or to return them. Aria was Antonio's twin sister and she was my only other friend. She's still in Italy. She, Antonio and I were basically inseparable. Back home, people used to jokingly call us the holy trinity. Aria and I have something going on. Or at least we did till I met Olivia. Aria had crushed on me since forever and I kinda liked her too. We knew we weren't meant to be though, when we hit 16. 16 is kinda like the age of puberty for werewolves. It's the age when they can begin finding their mates. Some werewolves are lucky enough to have been friends for years and to finally hit 16 and realize that they were mates. Some wolves however don't find theirs for years; my aunt Elena for example. Aria and I used to date but we knew it wasn't gonna lead to anything because we knew we were gonna find our mates sooner or later. I just didn't know mine would be sooner. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad I met Olivia. I can't imagine my life without her now but I still care about Aria and I know she'd get it and be happy for me but she'd still be hurt. I'm already sure that Antonio has told her about me finding my mate. I just haven't discovered the courage to talk to her yet. I'm such a p***y. “Hey aren't you gonna answer your phone?" Olivia asked me after I still didn't pick up. Antonio gave me a knowing look guessing who it was. I sighed. I was gonna have to talk to her eventually. Might as well get it over with. “Yeah I kinda have to take this. I'll be right back", I said answering the call just before it dropped and walking away. “It's about time you answered", Aria said over the phone, “I was starting to think you were ignoring me". “Hey Aria", I said simply. “Antonio told me what happened, about finding your mate. I figured that's why you were ignoring me", she said. “I knew Antonio would tell you. He can't keep his mouth shut". She laughed. “You can't blame him. We're twins. We have no secrets. So what's she like? Your mate?" I smiled at that. “She's the most wonderful person I've ever met. I never knew I needed her till I met her. She's perfect". “Tony said she has a boyfriend", Aria said teasingly. I let out a growl. “Please don't remind me. She's unaware of what she is. She's dating this scumbag who has no idea what a gem she is. But that's not a problem. She belongs to me. I'll have her soon. We were meant for each other". “I'm really happy for you Ang. But you really don't have to ignore me. It hurts. We're still friends you know". “I know. I'm sorry Ari". “I forgive you. When do I get to meet her though?" she asked sounding excited. I was really happy about her reaction. Aria can tend to be a bit stubborn about stuff especially if things don't go her way so I'm glad she's being chill about this. “Soon. Right now, I'm keeping her to myself", I replied. She laughed, “Okay then I shouldn't keep you away from her. Call me whenever you want to talk to anyone other than my brother. We both know that he can get annoying sometimes". We shared a laugh at that. “I will. Bye Aria". “Bye". Then the call ended. I walked back to the group with a load lifted off my chest. I found them all clustered around the two cars that we owned. “Ooh you're back", Olivia said looking happy. That made me and my wolf pleased. “I'm back", I said smiling to her. “Great so how are we going?" Andrew asked. “How about the tour guides stay in one car and the visitors in the other and you can drive behind us", Olivia suggested. Everyone shrugged while I tried to keep from sulking because I wouldn't be able to be near my mate. They nodded their agreement and we all entered our respective cars and drove off. “So how did things go with Aria?" Antonio asked me as soon as we hit the road. “She actually took it a lot better than I expected" I said shrugging but not taking my eyes off the road. “By that you mean, she didn't go off yelling and swearing in Italian?" he asked causing me to laugh. Aria always went off swearing and cussing in Italian whenever she was pissed. Usually, the three of us spoke only in English, which is why we speak so well but we have the occasional Italian conversations. “No I mean she completely understood. She wasn't angry at all. It makes sense if you think about it really. I didn't choose to find my mate now although I'm glad I did but the same thing could happen and will happen to her so there's no need for her to get angry". “When I told her and she was calm, I kinda thought she was saving her anger for you. It's nice to know that my sister can be rational when she wants to be. So when are you gonna tell your parents?" I groaned and dropped my head on the steering wheel. We were currently at a stop sign so we weren't moving. “Not yet. My dad is gonna want her to move and mum is just gonna overwhelm her. I'm just gonna keep it to myself for now". The light changed and I started driving again. “Are you sure?" “Yeah. Positive". “Okay then". Eventually, we arrived at the first place of the tour which was a pizza shop that was the most common student hangout in town. I walked in step with Olivia, with Andrew and Lila holding hands in front of us. Antonio had gone off to go flirt. “It must feel nice to have the attention of millions of girls", Olivia said putting a strand of hair behind her ear. I detected a hint of something in her tone. Jealousy? Frustration? I bet it was the former. “Why do you ask Olivia? You jealous?" I teased her smirking. She sputtered and coughed and she couldn't make any coherent sentence for the next couple of seconds. When she was finally able to get a grip on herself, she scoffed and said, “I am not jealous. I don't get jealous". Then she proceeded to cross her arms across her chest. I looked at her. She was definitely jealous and that thought pleased me more than anything. I didn't even notice that girls were staring at me till she mentioned it. I knew that I was handsome and I knew that I usually held the attention of girls but right now, the only girl's attention that I wanna hold is Olivia's. “Luna, you don't need to be jealous. The only attention I need is yours and I'm glad I already have it", I said staring at her intensely. Then I walked away not giving her the chance to reply. I smiled to myself knowing that I had left her speechless. I walked to the counter along with Andrew to go place our orders. I was gonna order mine, Antonio's and Olivia's. I caught sight of Antonio saying something to this girl that made her giggle. I rolled my eyes, he had always been a charmer. I had gotten to the counter when I realized I hadn't asked Olivia what she wanted. I debated just asking Andrew to order since he was her best friend and he most definitely would know what she likes but I cancelled out that thought.. Olivia was my mate. She was the second half of my soul which meant she was basically an extension of me. I should be able to make a correct guess of her favorite. I rattled out our orders and saw the impressed look Andrew gave me. We walked back to the booth the girls had chosen and I slid in next to Olivia. I noticed that she unconsciously leaned into me. Soon, Antonio returned with a big smile on his face. He took a seat still looking like he won the lottery. “Looks like someone's having fun", Olivia teased, “we just saw you flirting with the most popular girl at school". “Who?" I asked confused. “Emily Evans", Lila replied, “head cheerleader, prettiest most popular girl at our school and also the school's queen bee". I looked back at the girl again. She had strawberry blonde hair that she wore in curls, bright green eyes and smooth skin but that was it. I didn't see the appeal to her. She definitely didn't hold a candle to Olivia even with all the make up she had on. “She only ever talks to the hot guys. And I'm guessing she gave you her phone number so she definitely likes you", Lila continued. Antonio smirked at her and from the look on his face I knew he was about to say something stupid. “So you think I'm hot?" He teased and Andrew let out a growl. I face palmed. Antonio should know better than flirting with a mated female. Weirdly enough if it came down to a fight, it'd be an even match. Andrew might be a Delta but he's mated which makes him stronger. Antonio might be a rank higher as a Beta but he's unmated which makes him a match for a mated Delta. Just like a mated Omega is a match for a mated Delta. Also, a mated Beta is a match for an unmated Alpha. Which is why it's unadvisable to have an Alpha that hasn't been mated, it gives room for coups. Luckily for Antonio, he raised his arms in surrender and muttered a quick apology to Andrew. The situation was quickly diffused and I didn't have to use my alpha powers. Lila looked completely unbothered and Olivia just looked confused. She was about to say something when our table was called to come take our order. Andrew and I stood up to go get them. I dropped hers in front of her because I wanted to see her reaction at the pizza. “Oh s**t, I forgot to give you my order", she said. I mentally rolled my eyes. “Just open it". She looked suspicious but she did as she was told. The smile on her face was priceless. “How did you know?" she asked looking excited, “Andrew ordered this, didn't he?" I scoffed, “Please, I ordered it myself. I guess it was a lucky guess". “Very lucky", she said with a smile on my face directed at me. I was pleased with myself for getting her order. I noticed that she was no longer staring at me and I saw the smile on her face drop. I looked behind me to see her boyfriend Damien laughing it up with some girl. I looked back at her and I saw Olivia fight back tears and I lost it. All I could see was red, I wanted to rip this guy to pieces. I wanted to destroy this human boy who not only dated my mate but made her cry. I started to get up when I felt her hand on mine. I looked at her. “Don't", she said simply. I knew that she was trying to stay strong for me. I could see the tears threatening to break free and my heart broke. I wanted more than anything to go and tear that bastard apart limb from limb but I knew that Olivia needed me here more. I wrapped my arms around her and felt her cry into my body. From the corner of my eye I saw our friends look away as if to give us some privacy. “It's okay piccola (baby) I've got you". We stayed like that for a while till she pulled back. I noticed that her eyes were now considerably dry. “Thanks Angelo", she said. “Anything for you", I replied. After that, all of us talked and hung out like friends, we completed our tour. The only place we hadn't gone was the Willowswoods Forest that was famous for camping and hiking. Olivia promised to show me that later. We dropped Olivia home and I walked her to her front porch. “Thanks for the tour", I said tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. I saw her unconsciously lean into my touch and I felt content. “You're welcome Angelo. And thanks for what you did back there at the pizza place". “Anytime Luna". “Are you ever gonna tell me why you call me Luna?" I chuckled, “Soon mio amore". I had already said it out loud before I realized I just called her my love in Italian. I had only known her a couple of days and I was already in love with her. I saw her biting her lip in confusion. I had to drag my eyes back to hers so as not to seem weird. I opened my arms for a hug and she ran into them filling my nose with her scent. I pulled back reluctantly. “Goodnight Olivia. See you tomorrow". “See you tomorrow Angelo". I walked back to my house with the biggest smile on my face.
