EPISODE THREE. It was a common incident for people to be robbed and cheated but it was the first time I had to experience it in reality. Standing before me were four heavily masked armed men. The cold atmosphere was suddenly very toxic for me. I couldn't process what they were up to or what they wanted from me. My moment of joy had been cut short and turned into a bag of fear. "Please, what do you want from me?" Although I tried not to show my fear, deep down, I was already frozen with fear. I didn't know what to expect exactly from my unexpected and unwanted visitors, but I had the idea that their coming was never a good omen. "What room is this?" The tallest man in a mask whom I presumed to be their gang leader asked with his deep baritone voice. "Room 49.. Apartment eight..." It took me a long while to complete the statement because I was waiting for the worst to happen. I didn't know what to expect exactly as I was at the mercy of the hoodlums. "Wrong room." The masked men muttered among themselves inadubily and shortly afterwards, they left my room. I let out a loud sigh of relief and I dashed to lock my door properly. "Phew! That was freaky.." I blurted out, relieved. My celebration had been cut short as a result of the incident that had happened earlier. Right from childhood, I had always dreamt of becoming a powerful lawyer because of the rapid increase of insecurity and immoral vices. My passion is borne out of extreme love and patriotism for my country. In the ghetto area I come from, it is very common to meet illiterate women. It is considered a waste of time and resources to train women in school. I jolted back to reality the moment I began hearing noise from the down part of my apartment. The armed robbers had abducted my apartment neighbor and her lover. She was a human rights activist who mainly fought against social injustice and bad governance. The wave of shock hit me because I realized that my journey to be a lawyer had just begun. "Oh God, help me!" I cried in prayer, as I didn't know what to expect. It had occurred to me that one day, I could be the one. My desire to fight on behalf of the helpless had just begun. ****** "Oh God, I slept so late." I had woken up almost around past seven and I needed to get to work before twelve. It was my first day at work and I needed to make the best and most formal first impression as a diligent staff member. As a result of the constant traffic jams in my state, it was always the most important game plan to leave your home at least three hours prior, especially if you have an important schedule to meet to avoid stories that touch the heart. In less than five minutes, I took my bath and brushed my teeth, I headed to my wardrobe and took out my neatly ironed Italian suit which I planned to wear. I massaged my whole body with my cream and soon enough, I was on my way to work. Just as I least expected, my journey was very clear and the road was serene, which was very unusual. I couldn't help or explain, so, I asked the driver for clarification. He further informed me that the deputy governor of the state had been abducted by unknown men along side some prominent persons on the evening of the past day. I was thrown into utter confusion as I tried to maintain my composure, especially because of the fact that it was my day one at work and I didn't need to ruin it with emotions. Just then, a call came to my phone. It was an unknown caller. "Hello, good morning. Who is on the line please?" "Good morning Anna, it's your boss, Peter from the office. That is the office's phone line. I just called to congratulate you on your appointment and I hope that you are giving you way beyond what we expect. We anticipate!" He was the last person I expected to call me. It came more like a shock to me and I had to comport myself. "Sure, thank you sir. I'm really passionate about this job and I promise to give my best wholeheartedly. I'm on my way to work already." I spoke to him sincerely. I couldn't have prayed or wished to get a better job than this. I just hope that I experience good luck and outstanding success in my new job. My ride was smooth and in no time, I was in my office. I can't tell the exact reason I felt nervous but I could understand that it was because I was scared. Yep, I was scared because I couldn't tell what the future had in store for me, so, my earnest prayer was to become great. THE FEDERAL COURT OF APPEAL. THE OFFICE OF THE CHIEF JUSTICE OF THE FEDERATION. I had a whole lot to think about. My new house and official cars are going to be handed over to me today. When I look back at my past, I understand that I've come really far as a young lady. The time was roughly after ten already and the environment looked quite serene. The Uber driver stopped me just close to the avenue and I walked through the hallway to the reception. From there, I was directed to see my boss, Chief Justice Peter Den, in his office. Being a federal government official building, every part of the office looked exquisite and rich. I could tell that the direction and location of the main office of the chief justice was different from the office I was interviewed at. Seating in front of me undoubtedly should be listed as the most handsome man on earth. Sir Peter looked extremely handsome and classical. "Welcome to work, miss Anna." He said to me with a warm smile. My thoughts had slowly drifted away earlier to the extent that I forgot I was in the presence of my boss. I slowly found my voice and I returned the greetings. "Thank you sir." I replied, almost stammering. "The secretary would take you to your office and brief you on everything you need to know. I look forward to seeing you work amazingly for the growth of our beautiful country. Have a nice day." The dawn of reality hit me the moment the secretary came to pick me up. She took me to my office and then, I realized that I had become a boss of my own. Slowly, my goals in life were being actualized earnestly. My office looked exquisite. I had an air conditioner, a television, a couch and lots of other things. Occasionally, the secretary and other staff come into my office to welcome and put me through some things I need to know. I was already enjoying the serene atmosphere until a brawl broke out between a client and a defendant. The client's phone went missing and he went wild about it. I became more alert after I heard the sound of people's footsteps running across my office. Just then, a call came in. It was from the chief justice and it was an emergency call. He asked us to shut all of doors and lock up our doors so that the thief can be apprehended. After what seemed like an eternity, the management decided to track the phone and, to the utter amazement and shock of everyone, especially me, the phone was found in my office.
