April holiday

April holiday was just normal for Evana, same routine, waking up making breakfast for the family, then going to the river with Lisa and Joe, later going to the farm to attend to crops, coming back home most often they had to prepare or just warm Githeri, tend to the animals. On Saturday’s they had to go to the river and wash clothes. washing clothes for such a large family was not a joke, mostly thy would spend the whole day there, after which she would give her younger sibling a bath there, as their brother Joe often would hide in order to swim.

However, for Jersey, the holiday seemed exciting, she amazed not just her mother but brother when she volunteered to attend her brother holiday classes. Her mother saw maturity improvement in her, as she never accepted to attend those classes before, despite always performing poorly in school. As expected on the first day of tuition, Larry was present, but what amazed everyone was that Jersey came too, everyone who use to go for the lessons knew that she was never serious with education, therefore seeing her was a surprise. The school had given Ken one of the classes near the gate and for him it was okay for all he needed was a convenient place to do his tuition, he also had prepared all the require material.

In class no one saw it being odd when Jersey went to sit with Larry as far as everyone knew they were school mates so it didn’t bring any unwanted attention. But that simple act made Larry, feel like changing his sitting position, what he witness on closing day came back in his memory he felt disgusted that she was shameless even after the incident to try get his attention.

Throughout the two weeks of tuition, Jersey tried her best to impress Larry, it even became obvious to everyone, a rumor even started that they were dating, Larry could not take it anymore, and he had heard enough, this is Naishi where gossip spread like wild fire. What will Kerry think or feel if she happen to hear the rumors, he was now sure that he liked her, and he did not want anything or anyone to jeopardize that, not even her best friend in that case, he made up his mind to deal with the issue. 

He waited as they were doing their last assignment, “Jersey, can we talk after the lesson?” he asked her.

In her heart she was impressed, she was sure by now he may have heard the gossip, waoh that was a great move on her side, she thought.

Pretending not to care, “and what makes you think I will want to have a talk with you after someone started the rumor that we are dating?” she asked him.

“You can play mind games with fools like Sam, and your two friends but not me, we both know, you started the rumor,” he told her looking into her eyes.

Jersey, felt fear and at the same time cold deep down her bone marrow, it’s like he could see all her lies and sins, that look scared her, but she was not ready to give up, she gathered her courage, “what do you mean I started the rumor….

Before she could continue talking, Ken got in the class and saw that they were talking, “Jersey and Larry are you done with your assignment?” ken asked.

“No, it just that Jersey here say there is a question she doesn’t understand,” Larry replied, Jersey looked at him, but he shrugged his shoulders, as if he was saying, he is your brother deal with it.

Larry and Jersey met after the lessons, their meeting took place behind the class.

“Hey, do want to prove to everyone that we are really dating?” Jersey asked

“Hmm… which part did you not understand when I told you am not Sam or any of those people you take advantage of…” Larry asked.

Jersey realized that the chance she have been looking for to turn the tables against Sam, and clear her name had come, with a sad face and teary eyes she looked at Larry.

“Please…Larry why do you judge me like that, am sure you were hurt when you saw me with Sam that day…..actually I have been planning to thank you, if you never appeared, am sure he would have r***d me. I really trusted the wrong people, he told me there was a shortcut there….” to make it real she let tears flow from her eyes, as she finished talking.

Larry was mesmerized, she was a true actress, she didn’t need any training, just a script, and a set and cameras will roll without interruption.

“Listen here as much as I was not there as the two of you started what you were doing, I can clearly say, you two had a deal but you wanted out the last minute.” Larry told her with no sympathy. “anyway am not here for that, just know my patience has run out, and please clean the mess you have created, I know I look soft but when someone presses me as you doing am way ruthless, so behave and this your last warning.” He said his piece and wanted to leave, but Jersey held his arm. Larry almost lost control, to him she was filthy, “say whatever you want to say and take your filthy hands of me,” he said those words through his teeth.

“I know you have feelings, for me that why you saved me that day, and I too have feelings for you, and am willing to do anything to have you,” she spoke quickly without thinking, she told herself she had nothing to lose anyway, it was her last chance.

“Hehee…what did you say, listen, stop building castles in the air, me and you together never, and I know all you did to be my deskie, and me saving you I did it because of my relationship with Ken, one more thing I know, of your little transaction with Sam, hmm… poor Sam, he really believed that you would date him after one year..” Larry started to laugh.

“Did he discern that to you?” Jersey was angry.

“Noo my dear Jersey, just remember this darling walls have ears and eyes,” he winked at her and smile and started to leave “oh one more thing I have more cards under my sleeves than you can imagine, so behave,” he left.

Jersey was in shock, she wanted to hate him but she feared him, that feeling of fear was stronger than hate, “I have to watch my back from now forward, I think I underestimated my opponent,” she told herself, it was game over for her dating him, but one way or the other she was Jersey the mother of all sort of revenge.
