Chapter 15

Jersey and Sam

The term came to an end, the students were really happy they will have a break from school, but not all of them as April holiday involves a lot of farm work. Closing day is one of the most fun days as students, can leave school early and go to their friends’ homes just for fun, because after that they will stay a month without meeting.

The ceremony was really good, as in every class the top ten students were called upon and they were appreciated, and luckily Evana, Larry and Kerry happened to be among the top ten students in form one. That really reminded Jersey that all her life she is always the stupid one when it comes to class performance, she wondered why she never gets good grades despite having evening tuition, “am I really a stupid girl who will never be good in education?” she wondered.

Jersey looked at how Larry clapped when Kerry’s name was called for position ten, she could see the guy really admired her, she loathed that look, Kerry too smiled back at him. “Anyway schools are closing and my brother Ken will be home too, and during holidays he normally tutor students at Kiriri primary school, and Larry have always been his student. Am sure this holiday he will attend and I think it’s time I start attending too.” She came up with her plan, she always gets what she wants. Even Larry the colder he gets the more determined she is to win, she can lose in education but not any other thing which does not involve remembering formulas.

Form one class after school had organized to visit, their friend Mitch who had an accident, and his leg was injury, everyone was hyped as Mitch home happened to be far from school and it took the class like two hours to walk to their destination.

Couples in class were really happy, they walked holding hands, and those who had extra money after the contribution could buy refreshments, for their girls. Larry walked with some loners in the class as he was considered one too but his attention was towards Kerry, every time they came across a kiosk he would ask the girls what they want but his aim was to buy Kerry something. 

Jersey was making note of all the happening, and she was planning her revenge, because according to her Kerry didn’t deserve a fine guy like Larry, if she can’t get him no one can, either she have’s him or destroy him.

Mitch was excited when he saw all his classmate, especially when he saw Evana, he thought she won’t came, he thanked the boys for planning the visit.

Mitch home was located at a very beautiful place, where one could see the beauty of Lare in its glory, one side the Mau ridges, looked magical, with Karogoe hill on the northern side, the southern side was Lake Nakuru National park with its breathtaking beauty. The place looked like a heaven, Evana wanted to capture each and every feature in her memory, and also Mitch smile was just waoh. After meeting their friend, the student scattered to look around, and most wanted to go to a valley called Kihuru, which goes as far as the game park and true to the stories, there are a lot of monkeys there. 

Sam saw this as a chance to be with Jersey, all the way here he noticed how she was looking at them, and he really wanted to buy her refreshment as Larry was doing, but he didn’t have enough money to buy for all the three of them. So he called her behind the house, but Jersey was not happy, but she knew based on how she has been ignoring him, it was best she play a long, so they decided to go on their own without the gang.

Evana really wanted to go, but she was checking on her time, she didn’t want to face her angry mom, so after they had looked for Jersey and could not find her the two decided to go back home. Larry had thought that the girls will came along but it was too late when he noticed they were not there, when he asked Mitch, he told her that they had to go back early because Evana, had some work at home.

Unknown to Jersey, Sam had some alcohol with him, and he wanted to share it with her, so as they went deep into the Valley, Sam called “hey Jersey, what the craziest thing you have ever done?”

“Hmm….sneaking home to go for wakes, ha-ha I have done that several, lol my mom is a heavy sleeper.” She answered.

“Like you have never been caught?” he asked.

“Never,” she answered.

“Which other crazy thing have you ever done?” he asked.

“Ha-ha lying and never been caught…..” Jersey said.

“Oh really that’s no fun,” he told her.

“Hey what about, you tell me your crimes,” Jersey asked, their conversation was getting exciting.

“hmm… I have taken alcohol, not once and no one ever noticed me being drunk,” he told her.

Jersey was surprised, “for real, have you ever come to school with a hungover?” she was really curious.

“What do you think baby girl?” he gave her an evil smile and then asked her to close her eyes. He took his bag and took out a 250 ml Napoleon bottle, which was sealed, then “tadaa..., you can now open your eyes girl.”

Jersey was surprised, “you mean you had this in school jeez,”…. “Hey no one knew about it just me and my loyal bag, you want some?” he asked.

“Hell to the no, I have never tried any alcohol,” she refused.

“come on there is a first thing for everything, so come on, you not a baby like your two little friends, you can do whatever you want, to me you are brave than any of those girls.” He encouraged her.

“How drunk can I get from this alcohol?” she asked.

“I won’t let you get drunk, you will just taste I will drink the rest, and this stays between us, okay!” he assured her.

At this point she forgot all about Larry and she accepted, the alcohol little did she knew that, whatever will happen next will only create a bigger distance between them, despite all her plots.
