The Dinner Guest

Parker's POV “I hate ties, man.” I looked over at Xander, who seemed to be more interested in his phone than anything I’ve had to say all night.  “Hello. Earth to Xander!” “Huh?” His head snapped up to me, a small blush on his cheeks.  I rolled my eyes, “It’s a girl, isn’t it? That’s why you're dragging me to some god awful restaurant.” A smile grew across his face, “Yeah, but it’s not just any girl Park. She’s my mate.” I felt a happy laugh bubble in my throat, “No f*****g way, man! Congratulations! Where’d you meet her?!”  There was a small pang in my chest. I was thrilled for Xander to meet his mate, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t jealous. I was twenty-five, and I had yet to find my mate. Plenty of hook ups, yeah. No mate though.  “Dude, I met her at Starbucks. A f*****g Starbucks of all places. I never even go into those places. She’s from the Highland Pack, so she’s Canadian. Honestly I can’t believe I met her, such a fluke. Good thing Alpha Emmett sent us this week, huh?” His grin only seemed to grow. It was sweet, really. He was right, we had lucked out when Emmett sent us. At least he had, anyway.  “We have a meeting tomorrow afternoon with the Alpha of the Blood Moon pack, I think Emmett said his name is Adam Rossi.” I pulled out my phone looking at the time.  Xander looked up, “Yeah, man. I know. Hopefully he will agree to helping the pack. Goddess knows we’re gonna need it.”  I nodded my head and looked down at my phone as did Xan.  The cab driver cleared his throat causing us both to look up. We had arrived at the restaurant, unfortunately we arrived fifteen minutes late.  The maître d’ informed us that our guest had already been seated. He turned to usher us to a private table towards the back, when an overwhelming scent hit my nose. It was familiar, and erotic. As we moved closer to the back the scents continued: vanilla, sandalwood, and is that pumpkin? My thoughts were interrupted by a rather excited red headed woman, “Xander! Oh, I missed you.”  Xander wrapped the gorgeously lanky woman into a hug. Her emerald dress made her Snow White skin look luminous. She had gorgeous features, and cognac brown eyes. Her red hair laid beautifully over her shoulder.  Her eyes lit up when she looked at him, a true mate.  “Xander, you didn’t tell me she was absolutely stunning.” I teased.  She playfully pushed his shoulder, “you should be ashamed of yourself,” she winked. “I’m Willow Robinson. You must be the Beta, Parker.” She extended her hand for me to shake.  ‘Oh so polite, Xandy boy.’ I accepted her hand, and placed a small kiss on the back of her hand.  Xander shot me a warning look, ‘Just because you’re my beta doesn’t mean I won’t kick your ass.’ I laughed quietly.  “Willow, love. I thought you were bringing a friend?” Xander placed his hand on the small of her back while pulling out her seat.  “Oh, I did. Dee is right over there,” my head followed her finger to a woman in the corner. She was talking to a man, an Alpha? Her Alpha? Her back was facing us, her bare back. She had tattoos lining her spine, of what looked to be the moon phases. I couldn’t quite make out the small one of her left shoulder, but it was golden.  Man, did she have a nice ass. Round.  I heard Xander let out a low whistle through our link, ‘Your mate is right here.’ My eyes snapped to his.  ‘I’m mated, not blind. She’s hot. At least from behind.’ “Is she a wolf?” I turned towards Willow. “Yeah she is, she’s talking to Alpha Adam, of the Blood Moon pack, he’s her client.” Willow took a sip of her wine, locking eyes with me. “She’s not mated you know.”  I looked back towards her, trying to hone in on her conversation with the rather attractive Alpha. The one whom I have a meeting tomorrow with. Interesting.  “You can’t hear her.” Willow jutted.  “Why not? She’s not an Alpha.” I countered. “I mean she’s with an Alpha, he probably doesn’t want prying ears to hear.” Xander inputted.  Willow shrugged her shoulder, “Nah, I’ve never been able to hone in on her conversations.” She turned to Xander.  I looked back towards the bronzed woman, she flipped her black curls over her shoulder and I got a whiff of the scent I smelled earlier, it was her. Her golden skin looked dewy, almost iridescent. Her head was full of curls that looked silky, and laid just below her shoulder blades. “You said she’s unmated? Is she in the Blood Moon pack?” I kept my eyes towards the soft arch on her back where her tattoos lied.  “Uh, no.” Willows hesitancy made me look towards her, “Dee is a Rouge.” She took a large swig of her wine before meeting Xander’s wide eyes.  “She’s a Rouge? Does your father know? Surely as a Delta himself he knows the repercussions of befriending a Rouge.” Xander spit out everything I was thinking. Consorting with a Rouge was dangerous, forbidden by most packs.  “My father loves her. She was exiled at eighteen by her alpha. We met when we were twenty-one I’m college and I took her home that Thanksgiving.” She looked towards me, “He says she has the heart of a true Alpha. Even the Highland Alpha loves her, he offered her a place in our pack. She turned him down, though.”  I once knew a she-wolf with the heart of a true Alpha, loved her even.  Xander commented on Willows affiliation with a Rouge, and I turned back to see her throwing her head back in laughter at whatever Adam had just said. The Alpha motioned back towards our table, and she nodded at him. She placed a kiss on his cheek, and hugged him. His hands wandered a little lower than her waist before she pulled his hands away. He threw his hands up, showing his palms in defeat.  ‘You can’t f**k a Rogue, dude.’ Xander snapped at me.  I turned my head towards him, ‘Who said anything about f*****g her? I’m just curious about her. Two alphas think she’s great company, that’s odd for Rogue wolf.’ “Okay, the mind link thing. Cut it out, it’s rude for a dinner table.” Willow scolded us. “Sorry.” Xander and I muttered.  I looked down towards the ground to see a pair of black stilettos walking towards us, the scent of her coming closer made my nostrils want more. Her legs looked silky smooth. She was short, but her legs were long. Damn. My eyes shifted up to her waist, her hips were swaying seductively. She had a perfect hourglass shape and that dress did her all sorts of favors. My eyes traveled up to her chest and, sweet mother of Jesus. Her breast were on full display, a tastefully full display. Her honey colored skin looked like it tasted of sweet morsels. I wanted nothing more than to taste her.  ‘f**k, I might retrack my earlier statement.’ I looked over to Xander, who also was gaping at her. Her presence was commanding, almost like an Alpha. I turned back to see her standing by the chair next to mine.  “Davina! This is Xander, my mate. Xander, this is Davina Doucet.”  Willow exclaimed.  Davina?  My eyes snapped up to her. It couldn’t be. She was shaking hands with Xander, looking at him with warm eyes. “So nice to meet you, Xander! I’m thrilled Willow has found her mate.” Her grin was wide, genuinely happy. ‘Dude, her eyes. They’re so familiar.’ Xander snapped in my head. Her gaze turned to mine, and I met her emerald green eyes.  “Parker.” My name rolled off of her full red lips before I could register who she was. My jaw fell open. She turned towards Willow, looking as flabbergasted as I felt.  “Uhm, so. Xander, your last name it’s Forrester, correct? As in Delta Ryan Forrester.” Her voice was so matter of fact.  My mind was still battling with how this was happening.  “Yes, how do you know my father?”  “Ah, well this will be a rather interesting night, Willow.” She laughed.  She was laughing? Then it clicked for Xander. “Davina? Like Davina LeBlanc? As in Alpha Eric’s daughter, Davina?” Xander seemed confused. Rightly so. No one, not even myself, had seen or heard from Davina since she boarded that plane seven years ago.  I looked up, still processing. Davina has taken her seat, and signaled for a waiter.  “Yes, in the flesh.” She looked towards Willow, who also looked confused.  “You’re an Alpha's daughter? I’ve known you for four freaking years. How have you never told me?!” Her voice shrieked.  “My father exiled me. He said I was never welcome back. I took that at face value.” She shrugged. The waiter made his way to the table, and she ordered a MacAllen 17 year.  “You took your mother's maiden name.” I finally managed to get words out of my mouth.  Her head turned to me and she nodded. Her eyes rolled over me, as if she were appraising me.  ‘Didn’t you have a thing for her?’ Xander bellowed ‘Xander, shut up.’ “Yeah, he did. I had one for him too. Truth be told, I hoped he was my mate.” She looked back to Xander, then to the freshly made scotch. She took her drink like a shot, and set it back down before waving it towards the waiter.  “How the f**k?” I whispered.  Willow spoke up, “So you two,” she gestured between the two of us, “you guys dated?” Davina gave a half smile, “No, not exactly. We just… hazed together. We were best friends.” She met my eyes.  “How did you hear that?” Xander blurred as he stared at her. She stared back. “Honestly, I have no idea. A few days after I turned eighteen, I started hearing other wolves links, even their thoughts.” She looked towards Willow, who’s eyes had widened, “Never yours, Will. I blocked yours out as soon as I met you, I would never invade your privacy like that. Same with your pack.” Her voice was authentic, she was telling the truth.  Davina cupped her hand on Willows, who blew out a sigh of relief. Willow gave Davina a small smile, and gave her hand a squeeze.  The beautiful she-wolf in front of me, the only woman I’d ever loved. I barely knew her anymore, she never called me when she landed in Connecticut. Not a text, call, or email.  “You never called me, Davina.” I hated the sound of sulk in my voice, but I was hurt by it. Her eyes softened at me, and she took a deep breath before meeting my gaze.
