“Oh for god's sake, Willow. Please spit it out!” I blurted out, rolling my eyes at the tall redhead in front of me.
She only rolled her eyes in response.
I flopped down onto the bed as she looked through my closet, “Looking for something in particular? I mean, it’s my closet you’re going through after all.” A smile spread across my lips.
Willow and I met during my third year at Yale. She transferred from Harvard when she decided that law school was no longer in her future. She quickly, and I mean quickly became my closest friend. I guess that happens when you meet another she-wolf, especially in a school full of humans. Mostly humans, anyway. There were some wolves, even a few witches. A few vampires on the staff too.
Willow was from a Canadian Pack, her father was the Delta. He was thrilled when she decided to go to an Ivy League school. I’ll admit, at first that made me envy Will, just slightly, but then I met her father that year at Thanksgiving, and he made me feel welcome. I felt at home.
I’d been a Rouge since leaving the Crescents. Technically, I still was, but her family and pack always welcomed me for holidays and gatherings.
“I have big news to share with you tonight! I need a great dress, and your closet has designer clothes galore. I’ve never seen anyone with such a posh closet, well besides my Luna. She doesn’t count though, she’s the Alpha’s wife. She gets sent things nonstop.” Willow flipped her red locks over her shoulder and held up two different dresses.
“Which one, Dee?”
One dress was a deep emerald cocktail dress, with small, intricate beading on the bodice. The other was my brand new black, Dior dress.
I tapped my chin to feign thinking, “Emerald dress with my black bottom Louboutins. Where are we going?”
Willow tossed the Dior dress towards me and told me to get dressed, that we were going out to dinner.
“I have somebody for you to meet! He’s from New Orleans too!”
“Oh goody.” I rolled my eyes so hard they almost fell out.
I pulled on the dress she tossed at me, and glanced in the mirror. The deep V of the halter flatter my busty top half and hugged all the right curves on the way down, leaving my back fully exposed. The skirt fell just below my knees and clung to my skin, giving it a pencil effect. It was a sophisticated kind of sexy. I grabbed a pair of Louis Vuitton stilettos from my closet and slipped them on, giving myself and approving wink in the mirror.
Being a female on Wall Street was all about the look. I was a damn good financial advisor, with an impeccable college record, and even graduate work, but if I didn’t dress in a certain manner, it wouldn’t matter. Most of my wardrobe consisted of form fitting pencil skirts and tight business dresses.
Keeping up my physique was another important part of my business world, so hitting the gym, and jogging were a regular event for me. I like to think I’m in fairly good shape, at least my human half is anyway. It’s been nearly four years since the last time I shifted.
I scrunched my face in the mirror and pulled my hair out of the low pony allowing my kinky black curls to cascade over my shoulders. While I fluffed out my hair, I grabbed my conditioning spray to smooth out the rats nest my head was becoming.
“Davina? Are you ready?” I heard Willow call out.
“Yeah, coming!”
I stepped out of my room to see Willow working the hell out of my emerald dress. Her straight red locks fell over her shoulder, making her look demure while the dress hugged her thin frame beautifully.
“Wow, Will. You look great in that dress!” I gawked at her, admiring how gorgeous she truly was.
“Oh! You’re just saying that because it’s your dress!” Her cheeks reddened at the comment.
“No, I’m not. It’s definitely your dress now! I never pulled it off quite like that!” Winking at her, I turned to grab my pearled clutch.
“Where are we headed, Willow?”
I turned to see her applying a pink shade of lipstick, before she offered it to me.
“Wolf, it just opened last week. It’s owned by the Alpha of the Blood Moon pack.”
I sighed slightly, “Adam Rossi.”
“Yeah! You know him? He is so handsome. I mean, seriously his blue eyes make me wanna swoon.” Her giggle was child like, and sweet.
I rolled my eyes at her and pulled out my own lip color, Rouge Volupté. Classy.
“I know him, I’m his financial advisor. Which is why I’m a little shocked to know he opened an entire business without me knowing.” My voice was slightly clipped in tone.
I was rather annoyed that I didn’t know he was opening a restaurant. We met a month ago, and he never said he had any interest in such things. I sighed again.
“Hey, it’s gonna be a great restaurant. Maybe you can guilt him into giving us some free dessert!” Willow winked at me, and I let out a breathy laugh.
“Yeah, maybe.” I finished applying my lipstick in the mirror hanging by the front door. “You ready? I called my driver, he should be here soon.”
She nodded enthusiastically at me, and we headed out the door.
