Chapter 1
"Sierra, are you sure about this?" Gama asked softly, his eyes reflecting sadness and hope. However, Sierra remained steadfast. "Yes, Gama. Maybe this is best for us," she said hesitantly. Gama nodded, accepting Sierra's decision, but he could not hide the pain in his heart. Audie, satisfied with Sierra's answer, handed the agreement to Gama. "Sign it. Let's get this over with quickly. I have plans for Sierra, and we no longer need to delay. I will marry Sierra off to Jordan, a man of high status, worthy of our family, not to a useless man like you, a lowlife who has nothing to boast about and only brings dishonor to the family name." Gama let out a long sigh, picked up a pen, and intended to sign the agreement. The room fell silent as the ink almost touched the white paper. "Stop it!" the voice startled everyone. Gazes were full of question marks. "What's wrong, Sierra?" Audie asked. "I don't want a divorce," Sierra took the agreement and tore it up. "Sierra, what are you doing? Why are you tearing it?" Audie looked angry. "Mom, I did it for Grandpa. I couldn't break it," Sierra said as she stood up and walked up the stairs. "Sierra, are you out of your mind? Did you maintain your marriage relationship because of Grandpa's request? Come on, even if you break it, Grandpa will not rise from the grave and demand justice from you!" Said Barbara, Sierra's older sister. That statement made Sierra stop her steps. "That's precisely why I didn't do it; if Grandpa could live again, I would have done it long ago. But, divorced or not, Grandpa will never live again. Do you understand that, Sis?" "Sierra, come on, don't joke." "Who's kidding? I'm serious. If you don't know anything, just shut up, don't interfere, it's none of your business!" Sierra looked angry. "I'm doing this for your good, the good of our family, what. You should know that, Sierra!" "Which good are you talking about?" Sierra's emphatic statement shocked Barbara again. "You molded me, Sierra? I'm an older sister, and you shouldn't be doing this to me, let alone defending this useless man." Barbara said with some nervousness. Hearing that, Sierra let out a long breath. "Before you talk, you better look at yourself. Your husband is no better than Gama!" Barbara gave a sarcastic look at that. "Don't be crazy, Sierra. Are you comparing my husband to Gama? That's inappropriate, my husband is not worthy of being compared to Gama," "Then prove it! Your husband, Giorgio, has a good job and a high position and should be able to give you a house and a car, but what do you get? Nothing. So, what can you be proud of?" Sierra said, causing everyone to fall silent, looking at each other. A proud smile formed on Gama's lips. Seeing the woman she married six years ago defend her for the first time in their lives, Despite Sierra's haughty demeanor, Gama observed that Sierra genuinely valued her, leading Gama to remain committed to the marriage. "Sierra, why are you finding fault with us? Your husband is at fault, not us. Everyone knows he's much better than your stupid, uneducated husband, so stop saying things that aren't about Gio!" Barbara barked, angry and starting to cry at Sierra's words. Sierra walked quickly down the stairs, approaching Barbara. "You're angry? Can't accept everything I say? Then what have you done to Gama? You're always putting my husband down, criticizing, denouncing, and insulting him. Was I ever angry? No, I never got angry at all. So, now, why are you angry?" Sierra spoke right in front of Barbara. "Well, because she deserved it!" "What angle do you see it from?" Sierra asked sternly. "Sodori Barbara, Gama may look bad in front of you, but do you know who has been caring for me? Who has kept me patient and mentally strong since Grandpa died? Gama! Gama has always been there for me. Not just for me, she also takes care of everyone in this house, including you, your husband, and your son. Do you see her? You don't see it. You are blind to it. Nadat is blind to everything Gama does. Who prepares the work you take for granted, from making breakfast every morning to lunch and dinner? Is it Mom? Or you, Barbara's sister? No, Gama does it. Who washes and cleans the house? The maid? Do we have a maid? No, we don't have a maid. Gama does all the housework. She takes care of the house every day without complaining or getting paid. Do you think that's easy? It's not easy." "Of all the things Gama does, what do you and your husband do? You guys keep demeaning and insulting her. Is he angry? No, he doesn't get angry. Gama never gets angry. He remains silent. just like you, mom, and your husband say, stupid!" Sierra spoke with emotion in every sentence. Siaeet sighed again and said, "Just imagine what would have happened in this house if Gama was not around. I'm not sure this house is worthy of being called home; it would probably be more worthy of being a garbage dump. Like you and your husband, trash that screams trash!" Sierra continued. And this time, Sierra's words made Audie angry. "Sierra!" Audie yelled. Plak! A hard slap landed hard on Sierra's cheek, leaving regret on Audie's face. "Si-Sierra..." Gama was quite surprised to see her. She wanted to go over to Sierra but decided against it when she saw Sierra speaking again. "Slap! Slap Sierra again, ma'am! And hopefully, your slap will make me realize that my and Gama's marriage is a mandate from Grandfather. It's a big sin if we break it. Grandpa is your father-in-law, Mom. He loved you very much during his lifetime, so please honor his last words as a sign of respect for you one last time." Sierra pleaded with tears streaming down her face. Audie was silent, as were Barbara and her husband, Giorgio. "Stop the commotion, Gama; take your wife to her room!" Maheswara ordered loudly, and Gama immediately complied. "Let go of me!" Sierrt snapped. Sierra's emotional distress intensified. "I don't want to be touched by someone like you; you're always causing trouble. I'm tired of all this, Gama!" With tears streaming down her face, Sierra hurriedly retreated, climbing the stairs to distance herself from the volatile situation. ** "I swear on your behalf, Sierra. These are the last tears of sorrow you will shed for me, and the next tears will be tears of joy," Gama said. Gama followed Sierra, who was now on the balcony of their room. Gama walked over to Sierra, standing at the edge of the balcony. She turned Sierra's body towards her. Then she wiped Sierra's tears from her cheeks, and without disgust, Gama swallowed the tears on her fingers. Gama's aura suddenly dominated, making Sierra attracted to Gama's handsome face. Thick eyebrows, a sharp nose, and a firm jaw dominated Gama's thin-haired face. Her brown eyes made Sierra not want to look away. They had been married for six years, but only now did Sierra realize her husband's good looks. "W-what are you saying, Gama? Don't-" Gama cut off Sierra's words by placing her index finger on her lips, silencing her sentence. Those round blue eyes blinked repeatedly, and Game couldn't resist kissing them. "Everything is right, baby. Just by saying, Yes, I'll change your whole life. I'll give you anything you want, even the world." Sierra stared in awe and replied. "I don't want anything, Gama. I want to be respected by everyone. Not be belittled and made fun of by everyone. I'm tired, I'm tired, Gama. I want everyone to bow down and obey us. I want them to know we don't deserve belittling." Sierra's voice sounded hoarse, as if she was carrying a burden in her heart because of the insults of the people who had belittled her for the past six years. "Alright, I'll grant all your requests. Give me some time; it won't take long, but I'm sure I can put you on top of the world." Gama replied with confidence. "What are you going to do, Gama?" "I will do something that will change our lives how you want." "What does that mean?”
