Chapter 14
By midnight, all was still quiet. Ronnie and Florence grabbed a couple hours sleep, then Robbie and Brooke. After that, both the boys stayed awake while the girls got several more hours sleep.
At first light, the boys got the girls up and they all ate a snack. When it was just light enough to go without the night vision, everyone swapped back to day gear.
Robbie stepped out onto the porch and got behind the barricade he’d constructed. He looked over to the turret near the corner of the stoop. Then his eyes fixed on the horizon to the south.
If they come with the plane, it has to come from the south. It will take Sandra’s men a couple hours to get here from the highway. Maybe a little longer before they all find their positions, or they can be here now.
