Chapter 29 The next morning, Ronnie got up before daylight and went hunting. A fresh norther had blown in during the night and the temperature had dropped into the upper thirties. He found a good deer trail and waited. An hour after sunup a doe and her yearling meandered by closely followed by a young buck. He had no trouble bagging the six-pointer. When he got back to the house with his kill, Robbie was on the pier fishing. He’d already caught three by the time Ronnie arrived. His brother laid his pole down and helped him skin the deer, then got back to fishing. He caught two more by the time Ronnie finished processing the buck. Ronnie grabbed his pole and fished with his brother for a while afterward, but by this time the fish had stopped biting, so they gave up and went inside. Broo
