CHAPTER 31Coming down the stairs Abby heard the soft tapping of keys, and after a few steps could see Jasper seated back at the desk, with his fingers flying across the keys. He wore a pair of headphones and his head rocked slightly side-to-side as he worked. Abby bounced down the stairs, maybe a little harder than necessary, just to see if he would look up. Right before she reached the bottom of the stairs, he did look up and smiled warmly at her.
Jasper reached up and dragged the headphones down around his neck. "Hey there. How're you doing?"
Abby leaned against the desk. "I'm fine. How's the work going?"
"Great! I think I might actually be able to finish the book on time, plus I'm having fun again." Jasper reached up for his headphones and paused. He looked around. "Are you closing?"
