HARMONY’S POINT OF VIEW
“Do you think Professor Hue is already there?” Genevieve asked me when we are a few blocks away from our classroom.
“I don’t know, but don’t worry President McMillan gave me a letter in case Professor Hue is already there so we’re safe,” I said while smiling at her. As we arrived in our classroom, thank goodness Professor Hue is still not there so we immediately head towards our seats. After a few minutes of waiting, Professor Hue has finally arrived with his significant ‘raising brows’ while looking around as if he is scanning our souls.
“Ms. Ross, will you please lead the prayer for this morning?” Professor Hue said while he is looking at me. I immediately stand up from my seat and head towards the middle of our room and started to lead our prayer.
“Thank you.” He said after our prayer so I just bowed at him first before heading towards my seat.
“Geez! He truly likes to pick you for leading our prayer huh?” Genevieve whispered at me as I sit beside her.
“Let’s just let him do what he likes,” I whispered back at her while looking in front of us.
“So! I will give you 5 minutes to review your notes, I repeat your notes which means you can only review your own notes from our discussion we had yesterday. You cannot borrow from your seatmate and you cannot also use your book. So, 5 minutes starts now.” Professor Hue said so I immediately get my notebook inside my bag and started to review my notes. While I am busy reviewing my notes, I noticed that Genevieve looks so anxious while looking around and there I saw that she doesn’t have her notes.
“Genevieve,” I whispered so our professor won’t notice it. Genevieve slowly looked at me using those anxious look on her face.
“Why?” She whispered back at me.
“Wait,” I said before putting down my notebook on my table and get another notebook inside my bag.
“I will drop this notebook and then you must get it okay?” I said while referring to my notebook that is laying on my desk. Genevieve just nods at me so after that I let my notebook slip on my desk that made a kind of loud noise that catches the attention of some of our classmates including our professor.
“What is that noise?” Professor Hue asked while looking at me.
“Ah, I am so sorry Professor, my notebook just slipped from my hands. Ms. Ross doesn’t have anything to do with the noise.” Genevieve said which made Professor Hue look at her.
“Just make sure to hold your things tight so it won’t make a distracting noise. Okay! 3 minutes left!” Professor Hue said as he started to walk away from us.
“Thank you.” Genevieve mouthed at me so I just nod at her before looking at my notebook for another subject. Geez! Thank goodness I listened very well to yesterday’s discussion.
“Okay! Time is up! Let’s start our graded recitation.” Professor Hue said while he is connecting his laptop to the projector.
“I will use the same old method on picking who is going to answer my question. Look thoroughly at the monitor because the moment the wheel stopped spinning I need you to immediately stand up whoever is going to get call, understand?” Professor Hue said.
“Yes Professor.” We answered altogether. After Professor Hue is done setting up the ‘wheel of fate’ on his laptop he immediately clicked the start button and the virtual ‘wheel of fate’ started to spin.
“Ms. Sutherland.” Professor Hue said which made me automatically look at Genevieve as she stands up from her seat.
“Okay, since you are already a graduating student your question is what are the 7 P’s of marketing and explain each of that P.” Professor Hue said which surprised me because that question was not discussed yesterday.
“Ms. Sutherland?” Professor Hue said when Genevieve is still not speaking for a few seconds after hearing the questions.
“Oh, it looks like Ms. Sutherland cannot answer my question. Tsk, tsk, tsk okay you may sit down now.” Professor Hue said before clicking the start button again on his laptop.
“Ms. Ross.” Professor Hue said so I immediately stand up from my seat and wait for my question.
“Same question as Ms. Sutherland. What are the 7 P’s of marketing and explain each of that P.” Professor Hue said. I took a deep breath first before I started speaking.
“The 7 P’s of marketing are product, price, promotion, place, people, process, and physical evidence. Product refers to the products and services a business is offering, price encompasses the entire pricing methodology for products and services and how customers will react to it. Promotion is essentially the act of marketing directly to the customers, place encompasses many locations, it is also where the product is made, viewed in ads, distributed, and sold. People are not just those who you are selling and advertising the product, it is also the staff, salespeople and such as. Process refers to the delivery of your product or service to the customer and last physical evidence it is the something that our customer receives in order to validate their purchase.” I said which made Professor Hue smile.
“Very good Ms. Ross, you are truly showing to us that you are truly using the opportunity that this university has given to you. Keep up the good work.” Professor Hue said which made me smile.
“Thank you, Professor,” I said as I bowed at him. After that, the graded recitation continues until everyone got called.
“Okay, that’s it for today. See you again at our next meeting.” Professor Hue said before heading outside our classroom.
“Geez! I truly hate that professor. Imagine we are the only one whom he asked about that lesson and everyone was asked about the lesson that has been discussed yesterday.” Genevieve said while she is putting all her stuff inside her bag.
“Yeah, that was so unfair. You know you can tell the president about this issue right?” I said before standing up from my seat and putting on my bag.
“Even though I wanted to do it I am still thinking about his profession that he have for years now. I am aware that once I told about this to Uncle Mike, I know that he will immediately fire that professor in our university.” Genevieve said which made me smile because even though Professor Hue treats her like that, she still cares about him and his reputation.
“You know what, since I am already resigning from all my part-time jobs today do you want to come with me and after I am done with my business we can eat somewhere together?” I said while we are walking here in the hallway which made her stop.
“Wait! Did I hear it right? You are asking me to go out?” Genevieve asked me so I just nod at her before speaking.
“Yeah, you heard me right. I just realized what you said and it kind of hit me, you are right we have been best friends since we were freshmen and we only managed to bond for one time.” I said while smiling at her.
“Oh, my goodness Harmony! Thank you so much, you didn’t know how much you make me feel better now.” Genevieve said as she hugged me so tight.
“Hmm, no need to thank me Genevieve I just did what I need to do. So, let’s go to our next class now?” I asked her and she just nods at me with a smile on her face before we started walking together. That day just passed by like a flash and as I promised to Genevieve earlier we are going to eat outside for tonight’s dinner.
“Yes mom, Harmony is here with me,” Genevieve said while we are walking towards the parking lot.
“Okay, mom,” Genevieve said before handing over her phone.
“Mom wants to talk to you.” She said so I just nod at her before getting the phone from her hand.
“Hello, Auntie,” I said as I put the phone on my ear.
“Hello, Harmony it has been a while ever since I talked to you. How are you doing honey?” Aunt Liana asked me.
“Ah, I have been doing well Auntie, how about you?” I asked her with a smile on my face. Ever since Genevieve became my best friend, her parents started to treat me the way they treat Genevieve and I am so thankful for that.
“We are also doing good Harmony, by the way, Genevieve mentioned to me earlier that you already found a new job and she also told me that you are going to leave all your part-time jobs. Is that true?” Aunt Liana asked me which made me look at Genevieve but she just avoided my gaze which made me shake my head.
“Yes Auntie, that’s true,” I said while smiling.
“Aw, finally! Congratulations my dear.” Aunt Liana said
“Thank you, Auntie,” I said
“So, because of that I am inviting you here to our house and have dinner with us okay? You cannot reject my invitation I will get sulky over this.” She said which made me giggle.
“It looks like I have no choice but to accept the invitation,” I said while smiling.
“Ah! Finally, then we will be expecting you to be here at exactly 7:00 in the evening?” Aunt Liana said.
“Yes Auntie, we will be there,” I said while smiling.
“Then I am going to hang up now okay? See you later my dear and congratulations again.” Aunt Liana said
“Thank you, Auntie,” I said before ending the call. After that call, I just give back the phone to Genevieve who is currently smiling so wide.
“So, you already told Auntie huh?” I said while looking at her.
“I have to do it, Harmony! That was such a piece of big news for us!” Genevieve said
“But you know Genevieve, I am so thankful because if it wasn’t for you I won’t be able to have an Auntie and Uncle like your parents. They always make me feel like I am their own child.” I said while smiling.
“Well, you know the reason behind that right? My parents are both an orphan when they were little so they know how it feels to grow up under someone’s care instead of their own parents.” Genevieve said while smiling at me.
“Ahm, Ms. Harmony right?” I was about to speak again when someone called my name while blocking our walkway. This guy looks so familiar to me but I couldn’t remember where did I saw him.
“Ahm, may I know who you are?” I asked the guy in front of us while I am frowning at him.
“Ah, I am Marcus McMillan.” He said while smiling at me. Marcus McMillan? Marcus… McMillan?!
“OH! You are the president’s nephew right?” I said in a high-pitched tone while pointing at him.
“Yup! I am that Marcus, it was nice to see you here. My uncle mentioned to me earlier that you already accepted his offer on tutoring me and I am here right in front of you to personally thank you for accepting that offer.” Marcus said as he bowed in front of me. I immediately make him stop bowing at me because there are a lot of students walking around and some of them are looking here.
“Ah, you don’t need to be so formal towards me Marcus. Let’s build a comfortable and friendly air between us since we are going to work together for about a month okay?” I said while smiling at him.
“Of course, of course, but I just cannot help to adore you Ms. Harmony since you are a top-notch student here in our university,” Marcus said which made me blush.
“Oh my goodness you are making me blushed Marcus. Ah by the way I forgot to introduce you to my best friend Genevieve Sutherland.” I said and Marcus just nod at her before looking back at me.
“By the way, it was so nice meeting you again Ms. Harmony I need to go now. So, see you next week?” Marcus said while laying his hand in front of me.
“It was also nice meeting you Marcus,” I said as I grabbed his hand and shake it. After that, we just continue walking towards the parking lot and then I noticed that Genevieve’s mood kind of changed.
“Genevieve, is there something wrong?” I asked her while we are walking together.
“Nothing.” She said which made me frown. I knew that there is something wrong with her so I blocked her walkway first which made her look at me.
“What’s wrong?” I asked her while looking at her face.
“I told you, nothing’s wrong okay? I am fine.” Genevieve said while looking at me and a faint smile is flashing on her face.
“Are you going to keep it a secret to me Genevieve?” I asked her.
“It’s just, ah! Fine, I am going to tell you now. I am jealous!” Genevieve said which made me frown.
“Jealous?” I asked her and she just nods at me while looking at her feet.
“Yeah, I am jealous because of the way Marcus talked to you earlier. He is so jolly and it looks like he is truly having fun talking with you.” Genevieve said which made me smile.
“Don’t worry Genevieve, I don’t like him and I am not going to like him,” I said while smiling at her.
“But what if he falls for you?” Genevieve asked me.
“But I won’t fall for him so you don’t need to worry okay?” I said while smiling at her.
“Are you sure you won’t fall for him?” Genevieve asked me like a little girl.
“Yeah, I won’t fall for him. I promised.” I said as I lay my pinky finger in front of her.
“Hmm, I believed in you, Harmony,” Genevieve said which made me smile. After that, we just continue talking about Marcus and she told me that she knew Marcus ever since she was little. Her family and Marcus’s family are business partners and they often see each other at the party. That’s kind of cute!
