5. Problem Arises Pt.2

HARMONY’S POINT OF VIEW

I woke up in this unfamiliar room while my head feels so heavy. Argh! What happened to me? As I sit down on the bed, I let my eyes roam to help myself recognize where I am right now. Oh! I am at the university’s clinic?!

“Oh! You’re already awake Ms. Ross how are you feeling now?” My head immediately turns to my left when I heard someone’s voice. 

“Ah, my head just hurts a little but I feel fine now. By the way, Nurse AJ what happened to me?” I asked the nurse of this university while he is walking towards me. He just handed the glass of water and medicine to me before he started to speak.

“Well, Marcus and Genevieve brought you here earlier and you were unconscious. I asked them what happened to you and they just told me that you just fell on the ground all of a sudden and lost your consciousness.” Nurse AJ said while he is walking back to his table. 

“And I found out that the reason why you lost consciousness was because of over fatigue. I know that you have been overworking yourself a lot and I also know that you need to do that so you can support yourself, but Ms. Ross you know you can always ask the university for some help.” Nurse AJ added while he is searching for something in his cabinet.

“Thank you so much for your concern Nurse AJ. Ahm, may I know what time is it?” I asked him while I am fixing myself as I stand up from the bed.

“It’s already 1:00 in the afternoon. Do you have an afternoon class for today?” Nurse AJ said.

“I don’t have afternoon class for this day,” I said while smiling at him. 

“Then, go home now and take these.” Nurse AJ said as he handed over a small bag that contains a different kinds of medicines.

“What are these?” I asked him.

“Take that medicine after every meal which means you cannot skip your breakfast, lunch, and also dinner. That will your body to fully recover.” Nurse AJ said while smiling at me which made me smile.

“Thank you so much Nurse AJ, ahm I guess I better get going now,” I said as I picked up my bag from the floor.

“Yeah, take care on your way home.” Nurse AJ said so I just nod at him before heading outside the clinic. Right at the moment, as I head outside the clinic, I saw Genevieve and Marcus walking together towards here. As Genevieve saw me, she immediately run towards me with a relieved look on her face.

 “Oh, my goodness Harmony! Are you okay now?” Genevieve asked me while she is still hugging me so tight.

“Yeah, I am fine now. Thank you so much for bringing me here.” I said while smiling at her.

“Are you going home now? Then I will take you home okay? You made me so worried about you a lot! I cannot focus on the discussion earlier.” Genevieve said as we started walking. 

“You don’t have to worry about me a lot Genevieve! I am strong remember?” I said while smiling at her. Genevieve just nods at me with a smile on her face before looking at Marcus who is currently beside her.

“By the way, Marcus carried you earlier towards the clinic. Thank goodness he was on his way to our classroom to tell you that he cannot attend the tutor later since their family is invited to our family’s dinner later.” Genevieve said which made me look at Marcus. I smiled at him first which made him smile too before I started to speak.

“Thank you, Marcus, thank you for helping us,” I said while smiling at him. Marcus scratch his head first before looking at me and started to speak.

“Nah, you don’t need to thank me I just did what I must do. By the way, I got to go now see you later Genevieve, and see you tomorrow Ms. Harmony!” Marcus said so we just nod at him before he started to walk away from us. As Marcus disappeared from our sights, Genevieve just screamed all of a sudden while holding my hands and jumping in front of me.

“Oh, my goodness Harmony! Marcus asked me to be his date for our family’s dinner later!” Genevieve said while smiling at me ear-to-ear which made me smile too. 

“I am so happy for you, by the way, I better get going now. My body still feels heavy and I think I need some rest.” I said and then smiled at her faintly.

“Okay, then let’s go I will take you home okay?” She said but I just shake my head before speaking. 

“I will just take the bus okay? I know you need to prepare for your party later.” I said while smiling at her. Genevieve just looked at me using those sad eyes before she started to speak.

“We are okay right?” Genevieve asked me.

“Of course, Genevieve! Of course, we are fine, I just want you to take a rest and get ready for your date later with Marcus, that’s all you don’t need to overthink okay? We are fine no matter what.” I said while smiling at her.

“Are you sure Harmony?” She asked me so I just nod at her while smiling. I grabbed her hands first before looking at her eyes and started to speak.

“I am sure Genevieve, so go and head towards your car and I will go to the bus stop,” I said while smiling at her.

“Hmm, okay, okay then see you tomorrow?” Genevieve asked me so I just nod at her before letting go of her hands as we parted ways. While I am walking towards the bus stop, I just cannot remove Genevieve’s face from my hand while she is telling me about the dinner date, she has with Marcus later. I know that nothing is going on between me and Marcus but knowing what happened to us earlier I know that something is going on with Marcus. I am not dumb to not realize that Marcus has a special feeling for me. I know and I can feel that Marcus likes me the moment he approached us to say hi and introduced himself.

“Ms. Harmony, I thought you are going to ride with Genevieve? Why are you here?” I only came back to my senses when Marcus just stopped beside me all of a sudden. 

“Ahm, I decided to take the bus instead since she told me that you guys have a dinner date later. So, I let her go and prepare herself for your dinner later.” I said while smiling at her and walking away from him a little because he was so close to me.

“Oh, is that so? Then can I just take you home instead?” Marcus asked me with that usual smile on his face.

“Ah, no thanks,” I said and then I started to walk away from him.

“Harmony please wait for me!” Marcus said while he is chasing me so I started to run faster towards the bus stop. Thank goodness as I arrived at the bus stop, there is already a bus so I immediately head inside. I am so sorry Marcus but I need to do this, I need to stay away from you because my best friend loves you. As the bus started to move, that’s when the only time I was able to breathe in relief.

GENEVIEVE’S POINT OF VIEW 

“Aw, you look so gorgeous my darling.” My mom said as she heads inside my room. I put down my earrings first before standing from my seat and heading towards her to give her a tight hug.

“Thank you, mom, you look so gorgeous too,” I said while smiling at her after unclasping the hug. 

“By the way, I came here because I want to give you this.” My mom said before handing over a small pink box with a cute ribbon on it.

“Thank you so much, mom! What is this?” I asked her excitedly as I get the box from her hands.

“Open it.” She said while smiling at me so I just nod at her before opening the box. As I opened it, I saw this pretty necklace and a pink gemstone as the necklace’s pendant.

“Oh, my goodness mom! This is so beautiful!” I said while holding the necklace my mom gave to me.

“I know and the moment I saw that necklace in the shop, it immediately reminded me about you. Give it to me, I will help you wear it.” My mom said so I immediately give her the necklace and turned around so my mom can put the necklace she bought for me.

“Done! Let me see.” My mom said after putting on the necklace so I immediately turned around and the moment she saw the necklace hanging on my neck she smiled at me so sweetly.

“I knew it, that necklace fits you perfectly. By the way, I will go now because your father might be waiting for me. See you later okay?” My mom said so I just nod at her while waving my hand at her. As my mom head outside my room, I head back to my seat and started to put on my earrings and some other finishing stuff before heading towards the party.

“Good evening Ms. Genevieve.” One of our maids greeted me while I am walking towards our dinner area. 

“Oh, she’s finally here!” My mom said as she saw me walking towards them.

“Sorry for taking too long,” I said as I kissed her on her cheeks as well as my father before sitting beside them. 

“Genevieve, you look so gorgeous!” Marcus’s mom said as I sat in front of her.

“Ah, thank you so much, Mrs. McMillan,” I said while smiling at her. After that, I secretly took a glimpse at Marcus and it looks like he is not in his mood.

“Ahm, kids can you leave for a while? We just need to talk about something.” My mom said which made me look at Marcus for a second before looking back at my mom.

“Hmm, sure mom,” I said while smiling at her and then stands up from my seat.

“Excuse us,” I said before leaving the dining table and heading towards our balcony to spend the time there since I know that they will call us back again.

“Hey!” I almost jumped off of my feet when all of a sudden Marcus speaks from my back.

“Ahm, hey!” I said while smiling at him.

“Please, please, take a seat.” He said so I just nod at him before sitting back on my chair.

“Would you mind?” He asked me while pointing at the seat beside me. 

“Ahm, no, no you can sit beside me,” I said while smiling at him so he just smiled back before sitting on the vacant chair beside me.

“Hmm, you look gorgeous by the way,” Marcus said after a few seconds of silence between us which made me smile from ear to ear.

“Thank you so much, you too, you look so good. Your suite fits you perfectly.” I said while smiling at him which made him smile and scratch his head while looking at his feet. 

“Thank you, Genevieve.” He said while smiling at me.

“By the way, I never thought that you are friends with Ms. Harmony,” Marcus said which made me look at him while frowning. 

“Ahm, what are you talking about? Harmony is such a nice person.” I said while frowning at him. Marcus just scoffed at me as his face turns bland and looked at me straightly.

“You know what I mean Genevieve, you don’t need to act like a good girl right now since there is no one around here except us,” Marcus said which made me smirk at him. Ah! He still truly knows me. I stand up from my seat first before walking towards behind him and holding his shoulder from his back. 

“Ah, Marcus. You still know me, you know that I am not the kind of person that befriends with that kind of person. But Harmony is different Marcus at first I hate her because she is our university’s scholar and she needs to work after classes so she can have the money to support her everyday needs.” I said before I started to walk towards the chair in front of him. I looked at Marcus first before I started to speak again.

“But as time passed by, I realized that Harmony is different. She is not the type of person that will take someone’s kindness for granted, in fact, she will always refuse when someone wants to help her.” I said before letting out a sigh.

“So, you truly see her as your best friend?” Marcus asked me which made me look at him while my brows were raising at him.

“Of course! I truly see her as my best friend! In fact, I love her so much like my own sister.” I said which made Marcus smile.

“Then that is good to hear, I can trust you with my plan,” Marcus said which made me frown.

“Hmm, what plan are you talking about?” I asked him which made him smile even more.

“Well, it’s just our secret okay?” Marcus said so I just nod at him.

“Ahm, this is too embarrassing to tell you but here it goes. I like Harmony, I mean I like her for real and I wanted to court her but she just kept on running away from me.” Marcus said. I didn’t know how to react right now because the man I love just confessed to me that he likes my best friend. But how did Marcus fall in love with Harmony if he just met him recently? Do they know each other way before the tutoring stuff?

“Genevieve, are you okay?” I didn’t know that I am already spacing out while thinking how and when did Marcus fall in love with Harmony.

“Ahm, yeah, yeah, I am fine!” I said and then smiled at him awkwardly. I am trying my best right now not to cry right in front of him and it was so torturing!

“So, what do you think?” Marcus asked me.

“What did you say again? I am so sorry, I am kind of still surprised about you liking Harmony. How did it happen?” I asked him which made him smile. 

“Well, it all started when I am a freshman. Yeah, I have been liking Harmony for 2 years now.” Marcus said which made my eyes widen.

“Wow! You have been liking her for a long time now, so how did you know her?” I asked him again.

“Why are you so interested in knowing about it?” He asked me which kind of took me aback but I immediately cope up and smiled at him before speaking.

“Of course! Harmony is my best friend and it is just normal for me to protect her and know the background of the man who wants to court her.” I said

“Ah, is that so I thought there is something else,” Marcus said which made me frown.

“What do you mean by ‘something else'?” I asked him.

“Nothing, nothing. By the way, back to your question well, as I said earlier I have met Ms. Harmony when I am still a freshman that day was the day of the awarding of the university’s honor students.” Marcus said. Yeah, I remember that day.

“I was immediately captivated by her beauty and also because of her intelligence. Imagine, she was just a sophomore student that time and she already got the number 1 spot for our university’s all-over ranking. I fall even harder when I knew that she is our university’s scholar and how she was able to balance her time for university and also for her work.” Marcus said while looking at the sky. While he is telling that story about Harmony, I kind of envy my best friend because she has this man who clearly loves her for who she is.

“I will help you,” I said which made him look at me.

“I will help you confess to Harmony and I will help you until you get her okay?” I continued before standing up from my seat.

“Good luck Marcus!” I said before leaving the balcony and heading towards my room. I can still hear Marcus calling me but I have pretended enough that I am fine and it’s too much! Hearing the man, you love to tell you about the other girl he loves kills me so much inside and it kills me, even more, knowing that the girl he is talking to is my own best friend! I want to get mad at Marcus and also, I want to get mad at Harmony but I can’t because they didn’t do anything wrong to me especially Harmony. As I arrived at my room, I just locked the door and cried all the pain I am feeling right now. I never thought it would hurt me like this.
