7. Marcus Likes You

A/N: Hello everyone! I am so sorry if I didn't upload for a long time, it was because I cathed german measles which causes me to be bedridden but don't worry I am fine now and we're back to business! HARMONY’S POINT OF VIEW

While we are on our way to the university, I noticed that Genevieve is so strangely quiet and I feel like there is something off going with her right now so I decided to ask her what’s going on but she just speaks all of a sudden which made me looked at her.

“I am so sorry Harmony but, ahm let’s just talk about this later okay?” Genevieve said so I just nod at her while smiling and she just smiled back before grabbing my hands and squeezing them gently. I knew it! Something was off with her and I know that whatever is that thing that is bothering her, I have a feeling that I am involved in that. As we arrived at the university, Genevieve’s driver just opened the door for us so we immediately head outside the car and we started walking together towards our place.

“What’s happening Genevieve?” I asked her as we arrived at our place which is basically the hidden garden behind our department’s building and since there aren’t many people going here Genevieve and I decided to make this garden our place whenever we need to talk about something serious. 

“I’m sorry Harmony if I just drove by you earlier, I wasn’t truly intending to do that but my jealousy just keeps on consuming me,” Genevieve said while standing in front of me. I am just frowning at her because I didn’t know where is she coming from. 

“It’s fine Genevieve, you don’t need to apologize for that,” I said as I stand up from my seat and grabbed her hands while standing in front of her. As long as I can, I won’t let this tear us apart because Genevieve is so precious to me, she has been my best friend ever since I started studying at this university, and ever since that day, she has always been with me.

“But, but I purposely drove away from you Harmony,” Genevieve said which I didn’t expect. I just immediately smiled at her even though what she just said hurt my feelings. 

“It’s fine Genevieve, I know that wherever you are coming from, I know that it is something deep. So, please tell me about it so I know where you’re coming from.” I said while smiling at her and squeezing her hands gently. I heard that Genevieve took a deep breath first before looking at my eyes. 

“Well, I mentioned to you yesterday that I have a dinner date with Marcus, right?” Genevieve said so I just nod at her telling her to continue talking.

“And, last night after eating our dinner our parents told us to head outside the dining area first so I decided to head towards our balcony and I didn’t know that Marcus will follow me there,” Genevieve said. While looking at her, I can clearly see that something bad happened between the two of them last night. 

“And then, what happened?” I asked her while squeezing her hands gently. 

“Marcus mentioned to me last night about the girl she truly likes,” Genevieve said before letting out a heavy sigh. 

“And then, that girl. The girl that Marcus likes is you, Harmony.” Genevieve said before looking at me and smiling bitterly. I didn’t know what to say right now because I never expected this plot twist in my life. 

“Marcus also mentioned to me last night that he will start to court you and as your best friend I told him that I will help him,” Genevieve said which followed by a drop of tear from her eye. I immediately wiped the tears on her face and I was so surprised when Genevieve immediately hugged me so tight that I just hugged her back while caressing her back. 

“I didn’t expect that the man I love is in love with my best friend,” Genevieve said while she is sobbing.

“I am so sorry Genevieve if because of me you are hurting,” I said while caressing still her back. I feel that Genevieve shakes her head before she started to speak again.

“No, don’t apologize Harmony. You didn’t do anything wrong, Marcus fall in love with you because you are such a wonderful person Harmony.” Genevieve said which made me emotional. I never thought that she will still compliment me like this even though I am the reason why she is hurting so bad right now.

“I promised to myself that I won’t let our friendship gets ruined by something and I will fulfill that promise, Harmony. I won’t let this ruin us, I won’t let this ruin the friendship that we have had since we were a freshman.” Genevieve said which made me smile.

“Yeah, I also promised that to myself that no matter what happens I will stay by your side and always be your best friend. I promised that I will avoid Marcus, I promise Genevieve.” I said but she just shake her head before speaking again.

“You don’t need to avoid Marcus for me, Harmony. You are tutoring him and because of him, you didn’t need to overwork yourself so I won’t let you lose that because of this stupid feeling of mine. Please promise me that you will continue teaching him okay?” Genevieve said.

“But Genevieve, how about you?” I asked her.

“Don’t worry about me Harmony, did you already forget that your best friend is so strong!” Genevieve said while showing her arms which made me giggle. 

 “Hmm, if that’s what you want then I will continue teaching Marcus, but if he started to show me how he feels then I will immediately be declining him,” I said but Genevieve shakes her head again before speaking. 

“You should give him a chance Harmony, Marcus is such a nice guy and I think he deserves a shot to you,” Genevieve said while smiling at me.

“But how about you?” I asked her

“I told you about it, already right? Don’t worry about me, if ever you will like Marcus back then I am just here supporting the both of you.” Genevieve said which made me smile. 

“Thank you, Genevieve, but you know that Marcus is not the type of person that I like right?” I said and she just nods at me while smiling before speaking.

“I know, but please if ever he tells you about his feelings and asks you if he can court you then please give him a chance okay? I am telling you, Marcus is such a nice guy and I think you guys look so perfect and cute for each other.” Genevieve said while smiling at me. I just nod at her while smiling to end this argument because I know that she won’t stop until she hears what she wants to hear. 

“So, we’re fine now right?” I said as I stand up from the seat.

“Wait, did we fight?” Genevieve said as she stands up from her seat too.

“No, who fought? No one right?” I said which made her giggle. 

“HAHAHA, let’s go now I didn’t want to get let with our first subject with our most terror professor,” Genevieve said so I just nod at her before we started walking together towards our room. While we are walking, we are just talking about what happened to her dinner date last night and it sounds like it didn’t go well because of Marcus. Geez! What’s wrong with Marcus?! Why did he like someone like me, instead of someone like Genevieve? I don’t get it!

MARCUS’S POINT OF VIEW

“So, you are going to court Harmony?” My cousin Ethan said while he is chilling on our couch. I combed my hair first using my hand before looking at him with a smile on my face. 

“Well, that’s what I should do years before, so yeah I will start courting Harmony,” I said while smiling at him. Ethan just shrugged at me before biting his apple. Tsk!

“Then, I will leave now,” I said as I get my bag from our couch. 

“Yeah! Take care and good luck!” Ethan said before taking another bite of his apple. I was about to leave when he called my name which made me look at him while smirking. 

“What?” I asked him.

“I will come with you.” He said which made me grin.

“Wait, why? You don’t have morning class for this day, right?” I said but he just rolled his eyes at me before getting his bag on the couch. 

“I remember I have something I need to do.” He said so I just nod at him before we started walking together towards my car. While we are on our way towards the university, I noticed that Ethan is strangely uncomfortable. 

“Is there something wrong?” I asked him which made him look at me in surprise and he just shakes his head at me before speaking.

“Nothing, I am just thinking if you are truly courting Harmony,” Ethan said which made me frown. 

“Why?” I asked him which made him look at me. His eyes started to roam around which made it more obvious that he is thinking about some alibi.

“B-Because I am just checking if you truly like her,” Ethan said which made me frown even more. 

“Hmm, what if I didn’t truly like her?” I asked him and that question immediately changed his mood. Whoa! This is the very first time I saw him like this! Hmm, something suspicious is going on with this man.

“Tell me you’re kidding,” Ethan said in such a serious voice or more like a threatening voice. Geez!

“Yeah, of course, I am just kidding Ethan!” I said while raising both of my hands. 

“I truly like Harmony, in fact, I am truly in love with her. Harmony is so precious and I will be forever grateful to your dad because he helped me with my request. If it wasn’t for him, I won’t be able to get as close as this to her.” I said while smiling.

“You’re welcome, just don’t blow your chance,” Ethan said so I just nod at him before looking outside the window. Geez! I never thought that this day where I will tell Harmony about what I truly feel for her.

HARMONY’S POINT OF VIEW

“So, I will go ahead now,” Genevieve said as we head outside our classroom. 

“Hmm, take care okay?” I said and she just nods at me before hugging me so tight.

“I will see you tomorrow.” She said before kissing me on my cheeks and starting to walk away from me. When she is not in my sight anymore, I also started to walk towards the library where I will teach Marcus. As I arrived in the library, I saw that our table is still empty which means Marcus is still not there. I just decided to head towards our table and review the lesson that I will teach to Marcus this day. While I am busy studying the lesson, a guy sits in front of me which made me look at him while raising my eyebrow at him. 

“Ahm, excuse me,” I said while looking at the guy in front of me. He just looked at me while his brows were raising at me. 

“Yes?” He said while his brows are still raising at me.

“Ahm, nothing, nothing. I’m sorry for bothering you.” I said and he just nods at me before looking back at the book he’s holding. I just put back the notebook inside my bag and I was about to stand up from my seat when someone called my name. 

“Ms. Harmony?” Marcus said which made me look at him. 

“Marcus, you’re here,” I said while smiling at him. 

“Where are you going? I am so sorry for being so late.” He said but I just shake my head at him.

“No, no, it’s fine it’s just there’s this guy in our usual spot so I was about to find a vacant table then you arrived,” I said and he just looked at the guy behind me. 

“Ethan?” Marcus said while looking at the guy behind me. 

“You know him?” I asked him and he just nods at me before speaking again.

“Yeah, I know him because he is my cousin,” Marcus said which made me look at Ethan who is also looking at us, specifically at me before closing the book he’s holding and standing up from his seat before walking away from us as if nothing happens.

“Ahm, what is that?” I asked Marcus as Ethan walked away from us.

“Nothing, just don’t mind him,” Marcus said so I just nod at him before sitting back on the chair and I started teaching Marcus. 

“Yeah, you just need to add this to your initial answer and that will serve as your final answer,” I said while pointing at the problem I gave Marcus. 

“Wow! I finally get this problem!” Marcus said while smiling which made me smile too. 

“Thank you so much, Ms. Harmony,” Marcus said while smiling at me sweetly which made me smile too. 

“No worries Marcus if you have any questions just leave a message to me,” I said while putting back all my stuff inside my bag. 

“Wait, I can message you?” Marcus asked me which made me look at him while frowning.

“Of course! You already have my number so if you have any questions just feel free to message me. I will surely reply if ever I am still awake.” I said and then giggles. 

“Then, expect a message from me.” He said so I just nod at him while smiling. 

“Yeah, by the way, I will leave now, you’re sure you didn’t have questions?” I asked him before standing up from my seat. 

“Yup! Thank you again, Ms. Harmony!” Marcus said so I just nod at him before standing up from my seat. I was about to tell him bye when he speaks again. 

“Ahm, wait, Ms. Harmony,” Marcus said which made me look at him while frowning.

“Hmm, what is it?” I asked him.

“There is something I want to ask you,” Marcus said 

“Hmm, what is it?” I asked him. Marcus took a deep breath first before speaking. He was about to open his mouth when someone called him.

“Marcus!” Ethan said while he is walking towards here.

“Oh, my goodness!” Marcus whispered to himself before looking at Ethan.

“What’s wrong?” Marcus asked Ethan. 

“Come with me,” Ethan said and they were about to go when I stopped them because Marcus still have his question.

“Ahm, Marcus what’s your question?” I asked him.

“I will just ask you about it tomorrow, this looks like an emergency,” Marcus said so I just nod at him before they started to walk away. Geez! What’s wrong with them? I just shake my head before walking towards the president’s office to get my allowance for this day. 

“Hello, Ms. Ross!” President McMillan said as I head inside the president’s office.

“Good day President McMillan!” I said while I am walking towards him. 

“By the way, how’s your day?” He asked me while he is searching for the envelope inside his drawer.

“It went well President, as usual teaching Marcus is not hard,” I said while smiling.

“That is good to hear, by the way, I have something to tell you.” President McMillan said which made me frown. 

“What is it, President?” I asked him while frowning. 

“Well, I have talked with my son earlier and he told me that he is quite having a difficulty understanding one of your subjects this semester, so I suggested to him to have a tutor and he agreed with me.” President McMillan said

“So, you also want me to teach your son?” I asked him and he just nods at me. 

“Yup! If it’s fine with you but if it’s not then I will just go find another tutor.” President McMillan said which made me immediately shake my head. 

“No need President McMillan, I will accept that offer,” I said while smiling at him.

“That is good to hear then, so when can you start tutoring my son?” President McMillan asked.

“We can start tomorrow, the same time as Marcus,” I said and he just smiled at me before speaking again.

“Thank you, Ms. Ross, then here is your allowance for this day.” He said so I just nod at him before accepting the cash. After that, I just bid my goodbye to him before heading outside the office and heading home.
