Vanessa just led her hamster into an open area. Dead bodies were simulated everywhere. Clearly, they had been blown up.
Hakim kept himself at a distance from them, "Jeff! The titan is an actual assassin"!
"Like... A real assassin or a norm-"!
A card smashed into Vanessa's barrier. A few others shattered it with an extra one to kill her hamster.
She and Jeff fell off, facing the card-wielding titan.
"What is it?" he shouted.
Hakim answered, "Likely a gambler! Either way, we can't get killed by that thing, or else we're do-"!
Vanessa sprinted towards the titan, flipping out her shotgun. Cards reappeared, orbiting the titan.
"Vanessa! Get back!" shouted Hakim.
He turned towards Jeff, "Shoot it"!
As Jeff pulled out his rifle, Hakim noticed not a single mine was going after Vanessa.
"Orion Ice!" called Hakim, immediately before firing an icicle at a mine approaching Jeff.
Likewise, Vanessa shot an ice-enchanted bullet at the titan. It countered with a card sticking the bullet.
The clash exploded, with a large break of ice-fog covering the area.
A second card, enchanted with lightning, flew at Vanessa. She shot it with an ice bullet right when a third card flew past her.
Hakim pulled Jeff onto the hamster, "Run"!
Vanessa watched as many cards flew at the two boys. Good thing Hakim was able to counter the cards with a heavy barrage of ice spells. Otherwise, they would've been dead.
Not a second later, she enchanted her blade with wind and blew out the nasty smoke. The titan was further than before and already summoning more cards.
The titan swung its arm, shooting out five cards at once. Vanessa held her ground, trying to figure out a way to get close.
The cards froze in midair. Each shattered like glass. Echoes of Hakim shouting for her to run pulled Vanessa's body to sprint away.
Jeff fired his rifles at the titan as a giant wave of glass flew down towards them. Vanessa hopped onto the hamster and cast a magical barrier around them while Hakim steered the hamster through an alley.
The barrier cracked by bits with each mine the hamster ran on. Glass shards were heard ripping through the alley. Hakim knew it'll be a while before the titan caught up.
Vanessa held her blade directly back, allowing ice to pour into a burst throughout the alley. The chilling wall froze all of the glass. Yet the mines were still coming in.
Coming out of the ally, the barrier broke. The hamster kept running past further mines. There were very few around, leading Vanessa to believe they were safe.
As soon as she stopped her companion, Hakim began explaining, "Vanessa, these aren't normal assassins".
Vanessa twitched her head, "Eh"?
"He's right," said Jeff, "In the game, you can place bounties on players. Kinda like what happened to us in November. That's normal, there's nothing wrong with that".
Hakim rubbed his head, "This isn't normal though".
"Whaat do you mean?" asked Vanessa.
Hakim looked around, "The game has this stupid... thing where basically you can kill a player and have them removed from the game for a period of time".
Vanessa's confused expression clearly needed a better explanation.
Hakim fumbled his hands around, "Look, most players don't do this. But there is a very hard and expensive way to get players banned for months at a time. And whoever this or these people are, appears to be targeting Jeff".
"Who the hell would be targeting me though"?
"Have you pissed anybody off lately?" asked Hakim.
"Not really," he answered.
The hamster jumped in the way to take a direct hit for Jeff. It was an arrow that would've pierced his heart if it wasn't for the rodent. A light sparkle faded from the arrow that Hakim knew was the banning spell.
Jeff shot at the top of the building where the sniper shot from, but nothing was returned.
Hakim grabbed Jeff's shoulder to run, "That's definitely an actual assassin class. We need to go. By the way, the actual banning attacks are pretty weak and hard to hit. It's typically preferred to weaken the opponent first for an easier ban".
Vanessa remained ahead, listening to Hakim's gaming lesson, "So why has no one told me about this"?
Jeff yelled out, "I never even heard of anyone getting banned".
Hakim added, "It's really stu-... wait... Vanessa! Lookout".
A perfect kick to Vanessa's thyroid sent her flying back. The assailant wasn't seen, but that didn't stop her from firing her shotgun while falling back.
Hakim blew out a fireball in the general direction. The assassin created an ice wall that blocked both of their attacks.
A c***k and smolder hindered sight a little. But Hakim took advantage to blow out a gust of frost.
The assassin's silhouette was clear. Vanessa shot a lightning disc at him while scurrying up. It hit straight across his torso, knocking him back a few feet.
The assassin rose up, now fully revealed. He was fully covered in dark green attire with a giant tear in his chest from Vanessa's attack. Blood seeped out that he ignored to take a firm widened stance.
His hand seals were many in a matter of seconds. Before they could react, the ninja shot out a giant firebomb. The entire wide-open area was covered in flames.
Vanessa jumped in front of Jeff to create an ice wall. But the ninja countered with a gust that sent the flames spiraling in.
They remained trap, burning in the fire with nearly no vision. Hakim sensed out the assassin coming to their flank. It was clear they were both sensors.
"Orion Ice!" called Hakim.
Ice spheres swirled around him without hitting his comrades. He stood in the assassin's trajectory to protect Jeff. Not once did it take a shot.
A swirl of frost from Vanessa uplifted the flames. Hakim noticed that the thing he sensed was only a decoy.
An arrow struck towards Jeff's heart but was luckily hindered by Vanessa's icy gust to fall on the ground.
Jeff shot the assassin. The guy took many wounds. And by the time he looked up, Vanessa slice off his head.
