Love is a present tense

As soon as I passed the gate of my school, my eyes started looking for him on its own. Not seeing him anywhere, I was somewhat relieved and sad? Its kinda best for us if we don’t meet after that awful incident. I sighed as all my thoughts were messed.  “Krisyyyyyyy……..” Julie shouted as I looked back. “Hey, what’s gotten into you? You literally disappeared for a whole damn week. Do you know how much Milie and I was worried? You didn’t call us nor did you pick up our calls. We thought you were dead.” She scolded me. Julie and Milie are twins and my best friends. I have known them from birth since our mothers are also best friends. They are really the best souls I have ever known. There’s no secret between us except one which I intend to tell them today. “Ok…ok…chill babe…don’t be angry. I will tell you everything.” I said as we started walking towards our class. Oh god, I really hope I don’t see him today. I’m not at all prepared for an encounter with him. We sat in our respective seats and as there was still some time left for the class to begin, we went to the restroom. We were passing through the corridor when I saw him… talking to a girl…ughhh…why do I have to see his face early in the morning? I was a bit sad seeing him so worriless like nothing ever happened. I decide to ignore him. Fortunately, we were not in the same class or it would have been awkward. It was the lunch time. We were in the canteen ordering our food in the counter. Suddenly someone tapped on my shoulder. When I turned around, our eyes met…yet I can’t figure out what was he thinking. We are friends for almost 5 years now but I still can’t even guess his exact thoughts. Sometimes he would treat me like a princess making me think if he likes me more than just a friend and sometimes he would flirt with other girls in front of my eyes. “Let’s talk.” He said. I was furious at the sight of him. “I don’t think we have anything to talk about.” I replied as I took my tray and went to find a table for us. The twins came running after me. I haven’t told them about that matter yet and I know being a gossip queen Milie won’t let me go without getting her daily dose of juicy news. “So what’s the matter?” Milie asked excitedly. “Just calm down Milie…I’ll tell you everything but first sit down please.” I said as I settled on one of the table. “So guys… I was gonna tell you anyway even if you didn’t ask… so the thing is….. I confessed my feelings to him.” “Whaaaaattttttttttt?” They shouted in unison gaining the attention of other people present there. “Can you guys please take it easy? No need to overreact. Calm down and listen. So it happened a week ago.”
