Chapter One: Tick Tok Like A Clock
I groaned loudly while chewing on my pencil in class. I heard my teacher clear her throat at me making loud noises while we were taking a test. I smiled sweetly, nodding my head as an apology as I looked back down at my paper cursing in my head, as I totally didn't study this. Last night I was so worried about getting a few chapters uploaded to my personal site. I wanted to give the audience the drama and romance they needed but, of course, one chapter turned to another and by the time I realized it I was tired, it was about one in the morning and I called it a night, not even remembering about this damn test today. I looked around the small college class as everyone was focused. I noticed my best friend looking at me as she snickered before looking at her own paper, as she knew I didn't study and that was my fault. I sighed and slammed my head on the table…I'm doomed.
It was about noon when I finally finished the test and packed up my things, handing the paper in before leaving the class and school for the day. Of course, I was the last to finish, so my bestie had already been home.. The teacher seemed annoyed about taking my paper because she had to stay behind till I finished. Damn, I felt so guilty, but hopefully, I'll get a good grade in the end, that will please her.
I walked down the long path to get home as I kicked some stones on the way and waved at some old couple who were too sweet to handle. I loved helping them on Sundays when they needed to go grocery shopping in town. They were the cutest little old couple who owned a sweet shop everyone loved dearly, and I didn't mind one bit helping them when I could.
I made it to the apartment as I climbed the stairs and went to my apartment door, unlocking the door and entering. Sighing out heavily as I closed the door, I kicked my shoes off and went straight to the kitchen to grab a snack and drink before going straight to my computer and opening it to read the comments on the chapters that were uploaded last night. Loads of positive comments, some sad sappy ones and, of course, a few negative ones. But I didn't care much about those and deleted them as I saw them.
I tied up my long black hair in a messy bun as I snacked on some chips while reading the comments and casually zooming on my phone at the texts from my mother and bestie.. My mother basically wishing me luck on my test and then there was my friend laughing about me not getting any studying done. My mother wanted me to be this big shot with a big fancy job, but I didn't want that at all. I loved writing and that's what I wanted to do, so I was going to school for it behind her back, knowing she would be super upset hearing I did those courses instead of the big ones.
It was just me and my mother, as my father walked out on us when I was about ten, he found someone else he loved and decided he wanted to move on, leaving us behind. My mother made it known he would never see me anymore, and he didn't seem to mind about that as it was the last time I saw him.
By the age of fourteen, I had a part-time job helping my mother. It pained her to see me so young, working on my studies but also working to afford things we needed to survive. But I did it, I graduated with top grades, and now I was in my first year of college doing what I wanted, but I couldn't speak to my mother about what my dream really was.
Hours had passed as I sat there in the same chair talking with my small growing followers as we chatted about some teasers and characters I had coming soon about the upcoming chapters of the book. I smiled happily that I had many people who loved the book and the plot of the book. We loved romance but also needed some splice of drama as well. Just a boring romance book isn't fun nowadays. Let's be honest, we need that thrill of drama to get the crowds wanting more.
While I was typing back to my mother over text, I noticed the flicker of my computer as I froze in my chair hoping it was just my eyes playing tricks on me, but it wasn't. I made a small noise before saving all the work that I was currently working on just in case the whole computer shut down on me which would only make me cry, and I had to save up to buy another one which I really couldn't right now with rent and things.
“Don’t do this to me!” I cooed at it like a human speaking to their newborn.
There was another flash before the screen turned so bright white. I shielded my eyes with my arm. It was so bright I couldn't even open them. Though when I felt a breeze against my hair, I opened my eyes to see a blue sky and clouds. Sky? Did I die?! Did the computer like explode or something in my face!?
So many questions were wrapped in my head, but soon I realized around me, I was falling, I was in the sky falling to my death!
I screamed out loudly, shutting my eyes, terrified, but I didn't feel the ground even impact me, instead I felt arms around my body holding me. I opened my eyes to look up at an unfamiliar pair of eyes. His dark, mysterious ones were staring down at me confused as he held me in his arms before landing on his feet. It felt like a sappy drama where neither one of us spoke to each other but our eyes spoke instead. Until he dropped me on the ground on my butt and I huffed angrily, standing up and brushing myself off.
“That was rude!” I yelled at him before I froze, looking around at the crowded area, loads of people surrounding the small area which was set with shops and food places, even stalls to shop, confused. I kept looking around like a lost puppy before looking back at those eyes as he looked down at me crossing his arms.
“Haoyu? Who's this?” Three males came from behind the other one standing in front of me as they were all dressed in traditional Hanfu, the colors all different and unique.
“No idea, I thought it was a noisy bird.” He commented, rolling his eyes.
I glared at him.
“Where am I?” I asked, confused as my heart was racing, and my head was pounding at the sudden fall and air that lacked my lungs.
The four boys looked at one another before one spoke up.
“Shen Dynasty Village”
My eyes widened hearing such words leave his lips. What the heck was happening? Did I really die? My eyes became heavy before I knew it. I swayed to the side, collapsing as many arms came out to grab me before I hit the ground.
