A soft breeze hit my face, waking me up. My eyes fluttered open looking at the odd ceiling above me alerted I shot up, ignoring the spinning in my head as I looked around, scared, confused about where the heck I was. Then I remembered last night, my computer was flashing. Before I knew it, I was falling from the sky and landing in some weird man's arms.. My head was killing me as I frowned at the sudden sharp pains. Flashes of someone else’s memories filled my head of a girl who looked alot like me..But way more beautiful. I watched her lying on a soft-looking bed as she took her last breath surrounded by many people whose faces were blurry.
A girl entered the doors as she smiled, walking over and placing the tray beside me, I looked at the tea and fruits.
“Where am I?” I asked as she looked confused before she spoke.
“Shen Dynasty, Well a little bit from the main village.” She replied, handing me the glass of tea.
Why did that sound familiar? The man last night said the same damn thing and I didn't have a clue what it meant. Soon, like a light bulb , I got it. Shen.. Shen Dynasty. My book! But how in the heck was this my book? There was no way? Was someone playing an evil prank on me? Did I die and get reincarnated ? Nothing was adding up.
The doors opened again as a beautiful woman entered with a smile as she got teary-eyed and ran over to hug me. Shocked, I patted her back.
“Are you okay?” I asked why she was hugging me so suddenly like this.
She pulled back embarrassed before she smiled at me, she sat beside me and held my hand.
“This is probably all confusing, so sorry. My emotions got the best of me. I was..well, I am your handmade Ai, I will help you with things you need..You just reminded me of someone.” She told me.
I nodded my head and understood she was my hand maiden but in my time that was more like a butler type thing, I remained quiet as I looked around.
“My head is a little fuzzy remembering all this but you say I remind you of someone..Who is it?”
“The Princess.. Though the King is calling for you to come to the palace today so he can see for himself, rumor has it.. That they did some sort of ritual for the gods to bring you back that is probably why you stand in front of me.” She told me smiling as she stood to look around for some clothes for me to wear.
“Ritual..sounds odd.” I mumbled to myself as I watched her look for my clothes.
If what she is true, then my fate lies with the King. I have to pretend to be the reincarnation of his beloved daughter, and if I didn't play the part god knows what they would do to me.
I walked over as her and some other woman came over to help me get dressed for the day, but also to impress the King. I was quiet and in my head when I finally blinked when she was speaking to me. I looked at her as she smiled.
“What do you think? I did light makeup as you always liked and pretty hairpins”
I raised an eyebrow, looking at myself, like I was indeed beautiful but this wasn't me as I smiled at her.
“The makeup is beautiful but I want to do my hair if I may?”
The woman looked confused for a second but nodded in reply as I took the pins out my head and started to braid my hair as that's how I liked wearing my long hair, I smiled adding some flowers to it for some pretty effect before looking at the woman who looked amazed and were smiling, I blinked thinking this was wrong or something.
“It’s so pretty..Definitely teach me onward on how to do this and ill do this for you instead.”
I nodded my head, smiling as I stood up, and we left the room I was in and the manor. I was shocked at how pretty the place was. She walked me around a bit showing me different places that the “Princess” would love to go when she needed some air. I smiled, thinking this girl must have really wanted some alone time away from people as she had many spots in the manor.
“Can I ask..How did she pass?” I asked her gently while looking at her as we walked.
She nodded her head. “Illness I'm afraid, she was very sick since birth..and it soon ended her life.”
I thought about it as I was also born sick, but it wasn't as serious as they explained. I nodded and didn't ask anything further about it, we passed by some maids as they bowed but gossiped how pretty I was. I couldn't help but feel somewhat shy. I gave small smiles to them walking by but kept my hands in front of me folded as that was the right way to walk.
I kept trying to think about how I was going to do this, act? But that would be weird and wrong if I acted as his dead daughter.. But what if I was indeed reincarnated as her..which would also make this weird.
Two large guards were standing guard outside the double doors before one spoke up loudly and announced my arrival. I swallowed hard and tried to keep myself from a panic attack. The door slowly opened, and I walked inside while loads of faces turned to look in my direction. The four boys from last night were there sitting down as well. The man who I would guess was the King. He stood in my presence as he stared deeply at me and I couldn't help but give a small smile as I stopped a certain amount away.
My hand maiden looked at me and whispered. “Bow..” She said.
Oh crap right, old school stuff. I slowly got down on my knees and bowed respectfully to him.
“Rise.” His husky voice said as he walked to me and helped me up off the ground, he slowly reached forward and cupped my cheek. I looked into his eyes and you could see he was a good father to this girl and I felt bad he thought I was her.
“You look so much like her..” He whispered.
“She does sir, Though her manners are a tad off and she doesn't seem to remember a thing, I'm sure I can help her learn such things.” She reassured him by bowing.
“I..I've been told I have been reborn, and I'm your daughter. Forgive me, but I don't remember anything.” I said lying through my teeth as I played the role.
He nodded his head rubbing my cheek. “Sadly that's one of the side effects of being reborn I've been told…But don’t worry these four will protect you no matter what.” He said as he raised his hand as the four males rose.
I looked over at them remembering their faces but also the male who dropped me on my ass. I gave him a little glare which he noticed before I smirked and looks to him.
“Thank you…Father.” I tried to say as it almost made me choke just saying that was weird but the man’s face looked like it meant everything to hear me say that.
“Anything you keep you safe. Now lets get you set up in your proper room and you can start your studies again…” He nodded to my hand maiden as he turned away and went back to his chair as I bowed once more before turning and walking past the boys and out the doors. As they shut behind me I groaned out loudly finally breathing.
“That was so scary..” I whined to Ai who giggled and rubbed my back.
“I know but it will get better if and when your memory comes back.” She assured me gently.
“Yes, so let's not waste our time babysitting you hmm.” A voice said from behind us.
I jumped as it did indeed startle me, I turned to see the four of them as I sighed, not realizing they followed us out.
“Oi.. Trust me I don't want you following me around like a dog either, especially since you dropped me when we first met.” I glared as he glared back.
One of the boys laughed before smiling as he bowed. “Should we properly introduce ourselves hmm? I’m Kai. The youngest of the four..”
“Hello Princess, I am Dajian. The smartest of the four.” He smirked, bowing to me.
I nodded my head. Great, I had to remember faces and names. I gave a fake smile to him as I looked at the other’s.
“I’m Kai, the youngest, sadly..but the most loyal out of them.” He snickered as his brothers gave him a dry expression which made me laugh.
“Hello Princess, My name is Tao. I'm the eldest brother of the bunch. This is the second eldest Haoyu who dropped you on your butt when we first met.” He smirked, bowing his head as he grabbed his brother by the back of the neck and made him bow to me.
I nodded, smirking.
“It’s nice to meet you all, even though I'm sure we met, but I’m sorry If I don't remember your names or anything. I'm trying.” I lied, frowning.
“Don’t worry about it, Maybe it will come back to you eventually.” Tao smiled at me, reassuring me.
I nodded my head, smiling at him. Honestly, I didn't think that would happen as I'm not the person they think I am. I'm playing a role to stay alive and to figure out what exactly is happening to me, or was I that person who died and got reborn into a whole new life to fix this person. My head spun, and before I knew it the floor was the last thing I saw before passing out.
