Chapter Three: Princess Duties or Becoming A Badass?

1927 Words
I kneeled against the cushion as my eyes were on the scroll trying to figure out how to simply write down my answer. I wasn't really good at the writing down the symbols that were Chinese. I mean, yes, I was half Chinese, but my time and this time was so off and it was driving my head to have a huge headache. I groaned loudly, putting the quill down as I needed a break. Last night I fainted again as I was overwhelmed with everything happening. The doctor said it was normal seeing I was reborn and all that jazz. But was it really that? I feel it's my head trying to wrap around that I'm in someone else's body and I was stuck here. “Don't start slacking off.” The old woman said before hitting my hand with a ruler, I winced and glared up at her annoyed. How can they have this damn woman be my teacher when all she has been doing is criticizing me the whole time and hitting me when I made a mistake! I held back my mean words as I just nodded my head, picking up the damn quill and kept trying to copy the symbols on the scroll which only got me another whack to my hand. “Princess don't slouch, Sit straight when writing.” She barked at me. I stood from my seat frustrated as I smiled at her. “Yes please show me the correct way then.” I smiled at her as she nodded once as she sat down showing me the way to sit down correctly simply talking on what to do and not before looking at me. I took the ruler before hitting her hand as well as she looked stunned. “Major rule, never lose focus.” I repeated her dumb words to her and she looked angry standing up. “How dare you, that is not Princess like!” She shouted at me snatching the ruler from me and raising it to hit me, but my cat-like reflexes gripped it as she stood shocked again. I stared daggers at her. “Mhmm, I never once said I was Princess-like.” I said to her letting go and walking off Ai giggled following after me from behind. When I opened the door some people who were over watching quietly looked away as I sighed and walked down the steps irritated. The woman came to the door screaming about telling my father and I really didn't care, that teaching was hell and so not worth it from an old bat like her. It's not my fault she cant handle me. “If she tells your Father.. You might get in trouble.” Ai said afraid walking to my side now. “Don’t worry, I have that handled.” I assured her smirking as she shook her head laughing as we walked the court before spotting some of the men shooting some arrows, I suppose practicing. We walked over and stood watching them in secret. The boys were indeed attractive and you were lying if you said they weren't, different personalities but they were all drop dead beautiful. “Before I passed, Did I like any of them?” I asked Ai who looked taken back before she chuckled, nodding her head. “You fancied a Prince, Yes..” She replied to me. “Oh? Who?” I asked curiously as I watched them laugh with one another and teach some of the other men. I spotted my Father and some of his friends sitting and drinking as they watched, Why wasn't I allowed to attend things like this. Studying was boring while this looked more interesting to be around. Though, I didn't spot a single woman here.. “Prince Dajian, you two got along well…But then again, your mind always changed.” She told me honestly. “Well, I don’t have time for boy’s. Changing my future and becoming Queen sounds fun.” I told her, elbowing her with a smirk. “Queen?!” She almost shouted but covered her voice shocked. “That would be a first. I think it's an amazing idea. I shall help in any way I can.” She told me. I smiled at how loyal she was as I hugged her gently but focused back on the boys, before spotting a bow nearby as I made Ai go and fetch it. Let’s see if archery back in highschool will still have my back when it comes to right now, that or make myself a fool. I arched the bow back taking my aim at the large woven board with a large target that most of the newbies were missing but then you had the pro’s who were showing off. So why not join the fun, A smirk formed on my lips as I sucked in some air before blowing it out as the arrow slipped by my fingers and to its target, It flung by one of the Prince’s head as he froze while arrow hit the board with a thud splitting of the arrows in half. All heads turned to look at me, I smiled shocked myself as I lowered the bow. “If your going to train the newbies, you should stop showing off. Not one of you knew of my presence and my poor father, You’re King could have been targeted because of your idiotness.” I commented smiling sweetly as they stood there staring at me in full shock. “Měiyīng?!” My father stood shocked watching me. Crap Crap, I smiled at him and ran over casually before I pouted to see if he was alright. He laughed assuring me he was fine before he sighed. “You’re supposed to be studying?” He asked me. “Ah..I don’t like the teacher, She hits me.. Look!” I showed him my bruised wrist as I pouted. “How will I get a husband if she ruins my skin Father..” I pulled his sleeve like a child. He was shocked looking at the bruise as he looked to his guard who nodded and walked off. “Ok Ok Father will handle it, more importantly… How did you learn that?” He asked, pointing to the arrow. I blinked as I had no clue how to respond. Then I smirked. “I've been getting my memories back in pieces, and I remember we grew up together, yes me and the Princes? They showed me sometimes how to hold and shoot and I've been practicing ever since. I was shocked it stuck too.” I giggled and shrugged. “Ah..”He said, still wary about it but he smiled at me patting my head. “Ahh, Everyone this is Meiyoung, my daughter I've been telling you that was sick but the gods healed her thankfully.” He said holding my hand. I gave a small bow being polite. “Hello. It’s nice to meet my father’s friends.” “My My you never said your daughter was a beauty Emperor Ko.” The one man smiled at me nodding his head in a bow. “I agree, hiding her all these years so we wouldnt come in with our sons” Another laughed. A man stood up bowing lightly before speaking. “Emperor Ko, It would be my honor to invite you and your daughter to our residence for the Lantern festival. It's a beautiful festival and the Princes are invited with their father's invitation, it’s only natural you allow us the grace of your appearance.” He said bowing again, the other men stood up agreeing as they bowed. A lantern festival? Party? Oh heck yes! I thought before looking at my father as I tugged on his sleeve, he looked down at me thinking as he seemed worried for my sake. Only this house knew I was a reincarnation of the Princess as I had a lot of more training to go till I could fool anyone but I was doing a good job as these idiots were fooled. I nodded my head to him, almost begging with my big beautiful eyes as he smiled sighing. “It would be a great pleasure to join in for the festival.” He said, assuring them. The smiled looking at him nodding as they sat back down happily with the response before another one spoke. “Will the Princess grace us with her beautiful dancing everyone has heard so much about?” He asked, sipping the tea. My father looked puzzled and before he spoke I stepped forward smiling. “Of course, It wouldn't be a Lantern festival if I didn't bless it with my dancing.” I said as I eyed the one man who looked suspicious of me but just smiled nodding his head. I didn't back down. If I was gonna play this role I was going to do it well and my way. “Now if you excuse me, I should get some practice in..” I smiled bowing before turning on my heel acting cool as I walked off and eyed the Princes as they looked worried, I walked off holding Ai’s arm as we left the area where they were and I panicked immediately running full speed back to my room as she followed by shutting the doors behind me. “Oh my gosh, what did I do..” I whined out loudly. The door’s opened to my chambers as they boys bowed, excusing themselves before entering and shutting the doors behind them. “Are you trying to get us caught!” Haoyu yelled at me. His brothers smacked at him for yelling at me as I huffed crossing my arms annoyed. “No? But I had to say something… he has been watching me since I appeared and he seems very fishy, I had to agree!” I said, sighing heavily. “It is very rare for him to ask everyone to his establishment for the lantern festival…” Kai added, looking at his brother’s. “Maybe he is onto something with the Emperor and The Princess.” “Well her little arrow stunt did not help the matter.” Haoyu snapped, annoyed. “All you do is nit pick at what i'm doing wrong but never praise me for even taking in this damn role and not freaking out and leaving! Get out.. Get out all of you as I have to practice and I don't need distractions!.” I shout at them, turning my back towards them. It was quiet but soon their footsteps were heard leaving as I tightened my jaw sighing heavily. “They are gone, Princess.” She assured me. “Good, Now… I need pretty maids or women you know of around here who can learn a dance but also teach me of your traditional dance that I usually do but.. My style.” I told her. She looked worried but smiled at me as she nodded her head quickly leaving and shutting the door behind her as she went off with her task. I went to the small window opening it and looking out as I sighed. It was going to be a long night of practicing for tomorrow and It needed to be perfect as my life and my father’s were on the line… hell everyone living here was on line and I needed to prove I was this Princess but a stronger and wiser one
