Chapter 4

Rogue King POV Tonight was the night.  I have 800 of my fiercest fighters coming with me while the other pack up for our move.  Some of them will be hidden in wolf form while the others will be in human form with me waiting for Sabrina's signal for us to invade the pack.  This was the big move.  Once I have them in my control, I will be one step closer to overthrowing the Wolf King and taking everything I deserve. I've been planning this for years and it was finally time.  My time.  We were waiting a good distance away waiting for the signal from Sabrina.  I could go closer to their territory with my scent masked and they wouldn't know I was there but my fighters can't.  They haven't mastered the skill of masking their scents. The party should be winding down soon and then we should be able to move in catching them off guard.  Everyone that doesn't want to stand by me will die tonight.  I will be the King.  I am the true king and all wolves will bow down to me.  The thrown is rightfully mines and they will all find out soon enough. "Boss it's almost time," Derek mind-linked me.  Derek was my right hand man and had been with me since the beginning.  "It's almost 1 am.  The party should be dying down soon." I got excited thinking about how I will rule soon. It's been a long time coming and I will finally show them who I was meant to be. Flashback Rogue King Age 21 "What do you mean I'm not taking over after you?" I shouted at my father. "I'm the oldest." "You're not fit to rule," my father said plainly. "What do you mean not fit?" "You want everyone to fear you, which they do.  But none of them respect you.  That is not a leader." "I will make them respect me." "You cannot force anyone to respect you.  Your tactics are horrible and your mother would be very disappointed if she were still with us.  The she-wolves here are afraid to be around you.  I've received reports of you assaulting them and forcing yourself on them.  You've killed multiple wolves for no valid reason.  You're lucky you haven't been banished.  Your brother will take my place.  He will keep things as they should be.  You would just run everything into the ground." "You can't do this." "It's already done." I stormed out of my father's office in a rage.  He has taken everything from me.  I wouldn't let this stand.  My brother will not take my place.  I will take what is rightfully mines.  I saw my brother standing beside his mate as I was on my way to my bedroom.  Just one more thing to piss me off about him.  I ran over to him and punched him in the face.  He fought back but I was stronger than him.  I kept punching him while throwing off those that were trying to break us apart. "What have you done," My father growled. Everyone froze and looked over at him.  He was on the floor kneeling beside my brother's mate.  In my rage I must have hit her or something but I didn't care. Take him to the dungeons," my father shouted. Before I could move silver cuffs were on my wrists and I felt a piercing pain in my neck.  They had to weaken me to take me to the dungeons.  I fought my way there.  It tool ten of the strongest warriors to get me there.  My rage helped me to fight through the pain of the silver and wolfsbane. Three weeks my father had me down there before Derek came down there to see me. "Boss I'm going to get you out of here.  It's been hard trying to get here. Your father has you heavily guarded but I'm working on a plan." "Just get me out of here.  Gather those we trust and tell them to head to my safehouse.  My father and brother will pay.  Everyone will pay." End of Flashback I've been trying to mind-link Sabrina for almost an hour and still have yet to receive a response.  I didn't feel the parental bond snap so I know she wasn't dead.  I trained her very well so I know there was no way she was captured.  If she was she would've let me know so  that we could go in.  "Boss should we just go in?"  Derek  asked. "Not yet," I told him.  "Give her a few more minutes.  I'll keep trying her." Sabrina's POV It took everything in me not to stare at his handsome face. I could feel his eyes on me but I forced myself not to look.   He's everything I'd imagine a mate would be but I never even thought I would have a mate.  Rogues never find their fated mate but here I was standing in the same room as mines.  I looked at his father from the corner of my eye and there was nothing but pure hate on his face as he stared at me.  It would never work.  I don't know what my father has done to him but me being his son's mate would never work.  I could never come in between a family.  I would never want or expect him to choose me over his father.  Hopefully I get out of this alive and then I can leave here and find a life of my own somewhere else. "We're going to do the Alpha ceremony now and then we're going on lockdown," said the Alpha.  "Noone will be leaving here tonight.  Patrols are doubled and after the ceremony all women, pups and elderly will go into the safe rooms for added safety.  We'll speak to all of the Alphas here and inform them of what's going on." "What about the Rogue King?" my mate's father said.  "And what are we going to do with her?" he said with disgust. "She'll stay with me," my mate said. "You can't be serious," his father argued.  "She is his daughter.  I say we hold her in the dungeons and force him out of hiding for her.  Then we kill him." My mate growled.  "She will not be put in any dungeon.  My mate stays with me." All eyes turned to me waiting for a response.  "As I said, I'm here to help but if it makes everyone more comfortable I will sit in the dungeons." "No!" my mate shouted. "I believe her," said the Alpha.  "I see no reason for her to sit in the dungeon.  She can sit with her mate while we finish up.  Let's get this done so we can get everyone to safety." We all headed out of the room and back into the ballroom.  My mate grabbed my hand and the sparks when we touch startled me making me look up into his eyes.  I had never felt anything like that before.  I had never known anyone who did.  He smiled at me making my insides melt.  I wanted to look away but I couldn't.  The intensity of his eyes staring into mines had Melody purring in my head. "Give mate a chance," she purred. "I want to but I can't.  Staying puts him in danger." "We can protect him."  She huffed and went to the back of my mind. "Are you ok?" He asked me. I nodded in response unable to find my voice.
