Landon's POV
"My name is Sabrina and I am the daughter of the Rogue King."
Those words stunned me. My mate was the daughter of the Rogue King. The man that my father had been obsessed with for years. Before any of us could say anything, my father was in front of her with his hand wrapped around her neck. Her feet were lifted from the ground.
"Where is he?" my father growled.
She began scratching at his hands but with his adrenaline pumping, he was too strong for her. On instinct I punched him hard in the face making him release her.
"MINE!" I growled at him. "Don't touch my mate!"
All of their eyes went wide when I said this.
"I can help," my mate said after catching her breath.
"Where is he?" my father scowled at her getting up from the floor.
"Leave her alone," I shouted at him standing in front of her blocking him.
"I promise this isn't a trick," Sabrina said. "My father sent me here to help take over the pack but instead I want to help you. I just want to be free of him."
"How about we go in the back and talk," Alpha Jacob suggested. His parents and I nodded in agreement.
We followed him to a back room but I stopped my father before he could walk in. "You cannot come in if you are going to threaten my mate or put your hands on her," I told him.
"Your mate," he growled at me. "Her father killed your mother. How can you stand in front of me and defend her? She needs to die along with her father."
"She is not her father and I don't care that she is a rogue. She's my mate and I'll kill you before I let you hurt her."
He looked at me in a shocked expression. Shock that I was accepting a rogue as my mate? Shock that I was accepting the daughter of the man that killed my mother? Shock that I was defending her against him? Maybe all of the above but I didn't care. She was my mate and now that I have found her, I wasn't going to risk losing her.
"Let's just hear what she has to say," he said before pushing past me and going into the room where they were waiting for us.
"Ok now that we are all here I'd like to hear what Sabrina has to say," Alpha Jacob said.
"And hopefully we can come to some type of plan so we can get the ceremony completed," his mom said.
I looked over at Sabrina and she wouldn't meet my eyes. Did she not want me as a mate? Did she not want a mate at all? The melodious sound of her voice brought me out of my thoughts so I could listen to what she had to say.
"My father wants to be the king of wolves," she started. "He's been taking over smaller packs to help build an army. The plan tonight was for me to come in and watch everything that is going on and then send him a signal once everyone has gone down for the night so that his army can come in and take over. With there being so many Alphas here he figures it was a great time and place to take everyone down at once."
"How does he figure this will help him become the king of wolves?" Alpha Jacob asked. "And what type of signal are you supposed to send him?"
"With a big enough army, he feels like he can defeat the King and take his place. He's been obsessed with taking over for as long as I can remember. I've been training for a war my whole life. I'm supposed to mind-link him once the party dies down and everyone is down for the night."
"He wouldn't get the link unless he was close enough to the territory and our guards would spot him," Alpha Jacob said.
"He doesn't have to be as close as you think," Sabrina said. "My father and I are able to mind-link each other from a further distance."
"How is that possible?" Avery asked.
"I'm not sure," Sabrina said. "Its just something we've always been able to do."
"Do you know how many he has with him?" I asked.
"I don't know how many he's brought with him tonight but he has over 2000 wolves on his side."
Avery's POV
"My name is Sabrina and I am the daughter of the Rogue King."
My eyes immediately went to my father upon hearing this. My father was unpredictable and the only thing ever on his mind was finding the Rogue King.
"Where is he?" my father growled. attacking Sabrina and grabbing her neck. I watched as she began scratching at his hands but he was too strong for her.
"MINE!" I heard my brother growl catching everyone by surprise. "Don't touch my mate!" He punched our father in the face making him release his hand from Sabrina's throat.
What?! The Rogue King's daughter is my brother's mate? This was totally unexpected.
"I can help," Sabrina said trying to catch her breath.
I watched her staring at my brother before looking back down at her hands. She looked like she was having an inner battle. I could tell that she had demons of her own that she was fighting. I could also tell that she was strong. She had to be strong to defy her father and come here to help those that she didn't know while putting her own life in danger. There was something mysterious about her that I couldn't put my finger on but I wanted to know more about her. I kept my eyes on her, not paying attention to the conversation going on around me.
"How about we go in the back and talk," my mate suggested putting his hand on the small of my back directing me to a place we could all talk in private.
"Are you ok?" I mind-linked my brother on the way to the back room
"I'm not sure yet," he replied. "But I know I don't want to lose her."
"Then fight for her," I told him.
We walked into the private room and a few minutes later my father and Landon walked in. I could tell that my brother was already infatuated by Sabrina by the look in his eyes. She kept her head down trying not to look at him. Rogues didn't usually find their mates so this must have been hard for her. I listened as she explained what her father's plan was. He seemed to be as crazy as my father. The Rogue King had an obsession with the Wolf King.
"Why didn't you try running away before if you wanted to be away from your father?" I asked.
"I ran away before," Sabrina said. "But my father found me and brought me right back. I've been trying to find a way to leave again ever since. He has wolves all over and has been keeping a close eye on me. I knew that it was a risk coming in here telling you all what he planned on doing. Maybe I should have just driven off to another state but I couldn't live with myself if he found another way in. I had to come warn everyone even if it meant putting my life in danger."
"What's to stop him from finding you this time?" I asked.
"I don't know honestly," she said. "But I'd rather die than do what he wants me to do if he finds me."
"What is it he wants you to do?" I asked.
She looked at me and then glanced at my brother. "He said that after tonight I will be mated to his right hand man."
A loud growl from my brother shook the room. "MINE!!"
