Chapter 2

Landon's POV We were getting ready to leave for the Alpha ceremony and thankfully for once my father wasn't drunk. I only hoped that he stayed that way through the night. We climbed into the car with Beta Caden driving, my dad in the front passenger seat and Avery and I in the back seat. I was nervous about meeting so many Alphas all at once. Our pack was never invited to these events and we didn't have any alliances with other packs so I didn't know any of them. I knew of their reputations but I never met any of them in person. I looked over to my sister and she was fidgeting with her hands in her lap. "Are you ok?" I asked her. "Yeah. Just uncomfortable in this dress." Avery wasn't the girl that liked wearing dresses or dressing up. She was a leggings and sweatpants kind of girl. She was almost always in her training gear that sometimes it was hard to believe she had actual clothes. I had to admit though, she looked beautiful in her dress tonight. She wore a long black dress with a slit up it's left side. The straps on the dress were thin showing off her toned arms and unmarked neck. Her hair was pinned up in an intricate style with loose curls framing her face. I guess Camille wanted her to be noticed. I however went into brother mode and told her to change but Camille was having none of that. We were let into Hill Crest Pack's gate and I controlled my nerves as I climbed out of the car. I was in amazement at the sight before me. Their packhouse looked more like a small castle than a house. I knew that their land was massive which I expected from the largest pack but I never expected to see a castle. It had to be at least six stories and was massive in width. We walked inside to the ballroom and it was amazing. The size was massive and it was filled with people. The high ceilings had glass chandeliers hanging. The stage was set up with chair for the ranked member and I could see the Alpha and Luna sitting there watching everyone. Guests were seated at table being served food while some were walking and talking with others. The dance floor had a few couples holding each other closely and moving to the music. "I'm going to the bar," my father said once we reached our table. Why couldn't he just enjoy being here without drinking. I looked with pleading eyes at Beta Caden. He gave me a knowing look and followed my father. Hopefully he can prevent him from drinking too much. I looked over at Avery and she was still fidgeting. "What's going on with you?" I asked her. "Nothing," she replied. Her eyes moving around the ballroom as if she was looking for something. Her eyes got wide and her body tensed. I looked in the direction she was looking and could see a man walking in our direction with the look of amazement on his face. Could my sister have found her mate? Who was he? He reached our table and his eyes never left Avery's. Standing beside her, he let out a breath; "Hello beautiful." I waited for her to respond but she just sat there as if she had lost her voice. I had never seen Avery at a loss for words. It was amusing to me and any other time I would've made a joke but right now didn't seem like the time. He sait in the chair beside her and look her hand in his. "I am Alpha Jacob of Hill Crest Pack. Rather I will be after this ceremony. And the name of my beautiful mate is?" he waited patiently for an answer but Avery still said nothing. Alpha Jacob? My sister was mated to the Alpha who's ceremony we were here to attend and she was silent. Unable to take it anymore, I spoke up. "Hello Alpha Jacob. We are from Blue Crest Pack. I am Landon and this beautiful young woman that seems to have lost her voice is my twin sister Avery. Our father is Alpha Roman." "Avery," he whispered her name. "Well it seems that I have made my first alliance of the night. We are family now," he paused. "That is if my mate accepts me." He looked expectantly at Avery. "I accept you," she said lowly, her voice barely above a whisper. He smiled and his eyes became bright like she just told him the most amazing news. "You've made me very happy," he told her. "Is your father here with you? I'd like to introduce you to my family before the ceremony." "Our father and his Beta are here with us," I answered since Avery had become silent again. I linked Beta Caden telling his=m to come back over to the table. I spotted them walking back over to the table and my father didn't look happy to be pulled away from the bar. He had a scowl on his face and a drink still in his hand. "He wanted to continue drinking and talking," Beta Caden linked me. "Avery has found her mate," I told them. "She's mated to Alpha Jacob and he wants to introduce us to his family before the ceremony starts." "Congratulations on becoming Alpha," Beta Caden congratulated Alpha Jacob.  "And congratulations on finding your mate.  Our Avery is something special." "Yes, she's very special."  Alpha Jacob looked at Avery with a sparkle in his eyes.  I was happy for my sister.  Happy that she had found her mate.  Happy that she would be moving to another pack to find her happiness.  i would miss her but I know this would be a good thing for her. Beta Caden looked at Avery with pride. The type of pride a father should have for their daughter finding her mate. My father's scowl slowly went away before he opened his mouth to speak. "What do you know about the Rogue King?" He asked Alpha Jacob. Was he serious right now? He should be congratulating his daughter but instead he's thinking of his obsession with the Rogue King. "Now is not the time dad!" Avery glared at him. "We can discuss business later," Alpha Jacob said. "Let's go meet my family." We left our table and began following him over to the stage when the most amazing scent hit my nose.  I stopped in my tracks and scanned the ballroom.  Could it be?  Could I have found my mate here also? Avery's POV My wolf paced in my head the whole ride here. I asked her what was going on with her but she wouldn't respond to me.  Her pacing made me nervous about the unexpected.  My brother kept watching me and I knew he could probably feel my nervousness through our twin bond.  I just told him that I was uncomfortable in the dress which I was but that wasn't what was bothering me at the moment.  I didn't know what was going on because my wolf wouldn't tell me. When his scent hit me in the ballroom, my wolf purred in my head and I froze.  I took in his scent and was drunk off of it before I could even see him.  When he came into view, my heart started pounding, Princess stopped pacing in my head and purred, "Mate." He was breathtaking.  The most handsome man I had ever seen.  My eyes locked with his as he walked over to the table.  His tall frame had to be well over six feet.   His white button up shirt hugged his body giving me a peek at his defined muscles.  His eyes were a vivid blue that I got lost in.  He reached our table and spoke but I was at a loss for words.  All I could do was stare at him.  I can't believe he was my mate. I was never at a loss for words.  What was wrong with me?  He took my hand in his and my breath hitched when I felt the sparks. "Avery," he whispered my name. The sound of my name coming from his lips gave me butterflies in my stomach.  How could one voice be so sexy? "Well it seems that I have made my first alliance of the night. We are family now," he paused. "That is if my mate accepts me." He looked at me for an answer. "I accept you," I answered finally finding a bit of my voice. The look on his face when I said those three words were enough to make me melt in my seat.  I could see so much love and happiness in his eyes. He wanted to introduce us to his family.  All I could think was that I hoped they liked me and I hope my father doesn't embarrass me.  My heart swelled when Jacob said that I was special.  For a moment he was all I could see and his voice was all I could hear until my father spoke. "What do you know about the Rogue King?" my father asked. "Now is not the time dad!" I glared at him.  I knew this should be expected but I still had a little hope that he would be happy for me finding my mate.  But who was I kidding?  My father wasn't going to change.  Ever since my mom dies all he cared about was revenge.  He stopped being a father a long time ago. I planned to tell Landon that I would be leaving after our 21st birthday to try finding my mate but now I didn't have to.  My mate was right in front of me.  I couldn't be happier to leave my pack even though I would miss my brother.  But I could no longer be around my father. "We can discuss business later.  Let's go meet my family."  I stood from my seat and we followed him over to the stage where his parents were waiting. From the look on his mother's face I could tell that she could already sense what was happening when she noticed us holding hands.  Unexpectedly, she pulled me into a tight hug before his father did the same. "My baby has found his mate," his mother said.  "We must begin planning the Luna Ceremony soon." "Congratulations son," his father said.  "She's beautiful." "Thank you," Jacob said.  "This is my mate Avery of Blue Crest Pack.  She's here with her father Alpha Roman, his Beta Caden and her twin brother Landon...where's Landon?" Landon was right behind me. I turned around to look but he wasn't there.  Where did he go?  I scanned the room looking for him when I noticed a gorgeous girl quickly heading our way with Landon following right behind her looking as if he'd seen a ghost. Who was this girl and why did my brother look like that? Sabrina's POV The next day I stayed in my bedroom until it was time for me to go.  I didn't want to risk the chance of running into Derek.  I knew I would have to see my father before I left.  I slipped on my silver, strapless, floor length dress and headed downstairs.  I kept my blonde hair straight and put only a small amount of gloss on my lips. "Are you ready for this?"  I asked Melody. "Yes.  Let's get out of here." My father was waiting for me at the bottom of the stairs. "Remember the plan," he said.  "This is the beginning of our future.  I'm counting on you." "I got it dad." I didn't feel bad about betraying my father.  He was a ruthless selfish man and I needed to get away from him.  I kept reminding myself that I was doing the right thing as I climbed into my car. "I'll see you soon mate."  I heard Derek's voice before I closed my car door.  Yes I was definitely doing the right thing.  I'd rather die before I mate with Derek. The drive to Blue Crest wasn't as long as I expected.  I sang along to the music on the radio and talked to Melody during my drive.  I needed to keep my nerves at bay.  I didn't know what to expect.  Would they believe what I have to tell them?  Would they throw me in their dungeon or would they let me go? "Don't worry we are doing the right thing,"  Melody told me.  "Everything will work out." I pulled up to the Blue Crest Pack territory and waited behind the other cars waiting to get in.  I pulled up to the gate and told the warrior the name of the pack my father told me to get in.  I pulled up the the packhouse and it was beautiful  I would love to live in a place like this and not be a rogue.  Why couldn't I have been born a pack wolf? I walked into the ballroom full of people.  They all looked so happy.  I imagined what it would be like to attend events like this without an ulterior motive.  To be like the girls here laughing with friends.  To not have to worry about anything.  I pulled myself out of my thought and scanned the room for the Alpha of this pack.  He would be somewhere that made him stand out.  I looked to the stage and saw him and his mate coming down from the stage.  I needed to get to them before they walked away.  I quickly walked in their direction  when the smell of cedar wood and fresh brewed coffee hit my nose.  It smelled amazing and made me weak at the knees.  Where was the small coming from.  I noticed a handsome man scanning the room and the scent was coming from him.  "Mate," Melody whimpered in my head.  My mate was here.   Anyone else would be happy but Melody and I didn't know how to feel at the moment. This wasn't a good time.  I can't deal with a rejection right now,  I need to get to the Alpha.  I felt his eyes on me and I quickly looked away and masked my scent hoping he didn't catch my scent yet. I sped up my pace heading over to the Alpha.  I could feel my mate behind me but began walking quicker.  I guess he caught my scent before I masked it.  He could reject me if he wanted to but not until I do what I came here to do. Finally I was in front of the Alpha and Luna.  I kept my eyes on them and pushed myself to say what I needed to. "Alpha, Luna," I bowed respectfully.  "I am sorry for interrupting you but I am here to inform you of a threat.  Your pack and everyone here is in danger.  Can we speak in private?" "Who are you?" the Alpha asked me. "My name is Sabrina and I am the daughter of the Rogue King."
